Galadriel is an approximately 8000 year old High Elf who was tutored by a Maiar(angel). She was alive before the first dawn. She is also Arwen's grandmother and Elrond's mother-in-law. The time span in Tolkein's world is crazy long.

She’s Older than the sun & moon, learned all from ALL the Valar (beyond angels), that was possible to be taught from them. she always knew there was more to know, to learn and more to create and had a drive to visit the homeland of her forefathers. To the hitherlands. Middle Earth. Where the elves truly were meant to live and mentor mankind for thousands of years so men could be fully ready to take the reigns in being the stewards of the world. she’s mainly Vanyar+Teleri. Galadriel is one of the Calaquendi, meaning "Elves of the Light" in Quenya. Some of the earliest Elves to come into existence, the Calaquendi dwelt in Valinor with the gods during the halcyon/zenith Years of the (Two) Trees, which predate even the First Age of Middle-earth. Highly synonymous with the the Vanyar Elves. ❤️ they are closest and most trusted by the Valar. They are the epitome of the truest exalted potential of ElvenKind. There is an entire set of clans of elves with variously different histories depending on when they branched off from the main three. Noldor, Teleri>Sindar (and Vanyar (of which Galadriel is of this branch more than her Noldorin side.) She is of the Calaquendi. Means The elves of light in Quenya. Some of the earliest Elves to come into existence, the Calaquendi dwelt in Valinor with the gods during the halcyon/zenith Years of the (Two) Trees, which predate even the First Age of Middle-earth. They are the exalted living ideal version of what the elves were meant to be like in this version of the world before Melkor/Morgoth’s poisonous malice poisoned and damaged the world to where it’s been slowly bleeding it’s magic away for thousands of years. It’s why everything is dying outside of Lothlórien & Rivendell. The rest of the elves are Nandor, Silvan, Falathrim which I think are those of the Falmari… Umanyar, & Avari & more. Moriquendi are the original elves long before ever living in Valinor. Waking to the stars by the Cúivienèn River. The elves origins is shrouded in mist. Just like their ethereal existence that’s connected to the earth itself and its fate. Oromë (one of the Valar.) called them Eldar, that means "People of the Stars", the Elves that chose to follow him, because when they awoke the stars were the only lights in the sky and for this reason they loved Varda and her creations. The stars were in their eyes. Much like the lady of light!

1:53:18 I like to think it's not melting at this point is because it still has a hold on Frodo. Like a "If I'm going down, you're coming with me!" moment. It's only when Frodo decides to take Sam's hand that it melts because Frodo doesn't let it influence him anymore. By his own choice, he takes Sam's hand and lives, thus the Ring is destroyed as the two it had it's tightest grip on are out of it's reach, Gollum because he died holding on to the Ring as it fell into the Fire and Frodo with Sam's help.

Before you ask: To be near a Nazgul is to fall into terrifying dreams. It's called 'the black breath'. To touch one is to come very near death and to actually die without almost magical healing, which Aragorn has finally come to possess. Also, several days pass while the army of Gondor marches toward the Black Gate and Faramir and Eowyn slowly come to know each other.

Frodo never fully healed from his wounds, which means he could never stay happy in Middle-Earth. He, Gandalf, Bilbo, and the rest are going to the undying lands (Elf heaven essentially), where mortal beings usually aren't allowed. An exception is made for Frodo and Bilbo because they were ring bearers. In the appendices we learn that Sam becomes mayor of the Shire and lives a long and happy life. After his wife dies, he also sails west to the undying lands because he was briefly a ring bearer. So Frodo and Sam do meet again. Merry and Pippin spend their days with Aragorn in Gondor, and when they die they are buried next to Aragorn's grave. Legolas and Gimli remain friends, and their friendship heals the rift between Dwarf and Elf. When they reach their end, they also sail to the undying lands together. It's a massive honor for Gimli, being a dwarf, and never a ring bearer. Once they leave, the fellowship is gone from Middle Earth forever.

Elves and Dwarves have long-standing beef. The ring BEARER was given the decision about Moria. Before you ask, Gimli is from another mine entirely, far north and east of Moria, the Dwarves ancient kingdom. Some of his kin set out thirty years ago to retake Moria (that they call Khazad-Dum). Gimli's people haven't heard from them since things were going well early on.

About the Witchking: He was the king of Angmar, an human realm on the cold north during the 2nd age (which ends with the defeat of Sauron in the 1st movie). After he took his place as a Ringwraith, an elf prophecized "not by the hand of a man will you be killed", which eventually got misunderstood by "no living man can kill me", but the elf just foresaw how Eowyn would give the finishing blow. I agree they could've made it more dramatic but that would take even more screentime than the average joe can handle.

Kingdom of Angmar was 3rd age my guy. It took down the north Kingdom of the Dunedain, called Arnor. Yet an heir of Isildur lived. Hence Aragorn. Since the line of Anarion, isildurs younger brother, died in the south the Kingdom of gondor slowly diminished. As the elder branch, and iisildur founded gondor together with his brother Anarion, Aragon had a claim.

Merry's blade in the books is a gift from Tom Bombadil. It's a blade from the old Angmar kingdom, geographically near tom bombadil's place. Is related to his old defeats. When merry stabbed himwith it he kind of broke a protective spell that make the witchking unbeatable. That's why the the nazgul was "weakened" and eowyn could finish him. Right?
@despinoza6205
@despinoza6205 2 күн бұрын
@EliasBrownBiraben no. They are Numenorean blades. Or Westernesse, as referenced. Blades buried with nobles and kings of Cardolan. Which was once part of Arnor, the North Kingdom founded by Elendil after the Fall of Numenor. Numenor, like Gondolin, made very good weapons. The Witch King was responsible for the fall of Arnor and it's successor states. Merry, being a hobbit, didn't fit the description as a Man. So while he hurt the Witch King, it did create the opening needed for Eowyn to slay him. Hehe even the baddest fighter out there falls when hamstrung from behind! With the Witch King, you needed every advantage you could get.

Your natural curiosity is perfect for Tolkien's fantasy world. You ask a lot of questions, but that is a good thing- it shows that you are getting immersed & feeling the wonder. & the crazy thing, as evidenced by the commenters, is that there is an answer or explanation for almost any question you can ask. It may not be specific or certain, but the fact that it is a story with such extensive lore means that if you come into it asking questions, you are primed to explore & discover so much. Thanks for sharing your reactions to these films, watching you slowly grow more invested in the story & characters is really the magic of this fantasy world. Dont stop asking questions- there is always more to discover, in this fictional world, as well as our own.

They spared no expense on these movies, and the people of New Zealand really help by participating en masse as extras. Ofc not all army were people but they did show in numbers; the scene where the Uruk start slamming their spear before the Battle of Helm's Deep was thanks to one extra who decided to have some fun while they waited, others then followed, Peter Jackson saw how cool it was and decided to include in the movie. The Golden Hall (Meduseld) you see atop of a rock in Rohan was built, alongside the gateway and a few houses (rest is CGI). It was in a very remote and wind area, which ripped the flag and again Jackson found it cool and included in the movie. It took them 11 months to build, but they used only for 8 days of filming. Then they had to dismantle it because it was a protected area and NZ government considers wood and stone dangerous to the enviroment... The orcs/uruks all wore masks, Theoden's recovery from possession was made with various stages of makeup, which is why this movie looks so good despite being 2 decades and a half old. Amazon's "Rings of Power" were given a budget 3x larger than all 3 movies for JUST the 1st season but the lack of passion, competence, good writing and wokeness made it completely unwatchable for me. I stopped after the 1st season.

Exactly. Amazon waited until Christopher Tolkien died early in production of the DumpsterFire (before they went against what they promised), his "demand" was Amazon could use the Appendices to make the show, but they couldn't change the lore. As soon as Christopher died, Amazon delayed the show for reshoots, fired Tom Shippey who was the lead Tolkien scholar & friend of Tolkien himself; they wanted Jackson on the team. PeterJackson asked for the scripts then they ghosted him. Then later when asked about it he basically told them good luck.. You can blame this garbage show on Simon Tolkien (who Amazon used to get around all the laws and protections set around the estate and JRR Tolkien’s legacy), its stink doesn't reach Christopher. Firstly: they merge events (from thousands of years of history & build up towards several events but puts them all into one moment as if it’s happening in the same few years without time jumps or anything.) Guyladriel the murderous one dimensional girlboss heroine version of Galadriel never met Miriel(one of Aragorn’s ancestors) because, as an elf, she would have been sacrificed to Morgoth by the King's Men. The hobbits and Gandalf never met in the 2nd Age because Gandalf was in Valinor till the 3rd Age. Miriel wasn’t even born yet. She was born 2000 years before the rings of power era. A precursor to other events to come in later ages. Also Elendil would never say “forget the past and toss it aside.” That’s the whole thing about the Faithful Númenoreans!!! Faithfulness to what’s good. To their elf friends. To the Valar, to Eru Îlluvatar(The One AllFather), The way Galadriel acts like Fëanor when he isn’t seeing straight such as how she threatened bloodshed in the highest court of Númenor! The way she isn’t tall, the way she fights rookies doesn’t make her look strong. Should have had her spar with Elendil who was greater than Miriel in many ways even as far as lineage goes too! (Canon has her as a grandson or son so…) Have her spar with those greater Numenoreans and let the rookies laugh at their masters being vested by an elf woman holding back from actually hurting them! Now that’d be cool. (Remember. Their whole mantra was to write the book Tolkien never wrote”. Also watch them fake super fans. And then watch their social media that had nothing Tolkien on it ever. Like…. It’s painfully obvious what’s going on here. Same formula towards other titles. They’re just trying to bank on the brand of which that’s the only reason they did this. Just watch Peter Jackson’s new movie coming out and the War of the Rohirim. You’ll see that Brian Cox is involved In it along with Philipa Boyens as well as Actor for Èowyn named Miranda Otto. Fran Walsh I also believe is Involved as well! Watch George The Giant Slayer’s first video regarding the war of the rohirrim. It was beautiful. And he has a wonderful soul too. When I say first video. I don’t mean very first uploaded video though lol. ) There was also no Adar. No poppy. No Nori. No fake Gandalf who literally didn’t come the way he was supposed to which introduces Círdan. And since they screwed up the themes and lore so badly they have to dig in their heels. & they are also being sued by multiple people and groups and companies actually. The 3 rings were forged after the 1 ring, not first. They were not in his sights or touch nor did he even know about them. And also guyladriel wasn’t a murderous Fëanorean either. But the note of the elven rings: They were made last and without the knowledge of Sauron. His touch never got to them, nor his malice poured into them. Made in secret so that whole story is thrown out the window as well. And making them first and having the obvious Sauron figure who wasn’t an elf to just be there when they’re making them and have his eye show up in the forge which wasn’t even the worst of it. The greatest of elven smiths still around which is Celebrimbor doesn’t even know what alloying is. Not to mention all their environmental scandals on top of bad CGI stuff. Full of copy past crowds (I wish I was joking), and plagiarism of several films up the wazoo. It’s also getting sued by several people and groups. So many 1 to 1 shots of season 1 and game of thrones and other films that it’s not even funny anymore lol. I’ll also remind you that they just ran an old sick horse til it died of cardiac arrest and then only had a ten min coffee break to loosely honour this horse. Not to mention Tolkien loved animals in a deep way. They also have been causing environmental damage one of which being King Charles ancient forest to make a set. It’s scandal after scandal. And the fire in studio that took four hours to put out with firemen for yet another example. (Note; Isildur being on this show in the timeline these hazily depicted events would mean Isildur is over 3000 years old by the time of the last alliance that began the third age when it ended. Lol. That doesn’t make sense now does it?). So many people made videos over the last two or three years alone regarding the series got them to read the books and then they got very confused first. Then upset when they found out that nothing of the show was I. The books at all. Only twisted and warped things full of inserted politics and themes that Tolkien was no fan of. PS they don’t have the rights to the Silmarillion nor anything much of the second age let alone the first. Only the trilogy books and their appendices…. Remember that they also plagiarized tonnes of films in nontasteful instead of true a homage way… “tempest in me” but when threatening Fëanorean level bloodshed in the court of Númenor was from Cate Blanchett’s Elizabeth role which was done with grace and poise of a veteran actress(which doesn’t even sound like anything those of the great chill house of Finarfin would even act like. Again it’d be best to put Elrond there due to Elros. But ooook let’s make girlboss do everything. Even if it continues to make zero sense. 😍 fact they downplayed Elendil who’d never say to “forget the past”, Gil-Galad and Finrod is beyond infuriating and not explaining Elwing, Elronds mother beyond just showing her as a swan was pure LOLism. Like. What’s worse is Grandpabimbor…. Let’s not forget good ol’ Guyladriel either. The LOTR version of Star Wars’ Rey! Guyladriel the Female Fëanor without any of his charms and subtleties and wit… just the bloody violent rages… They lost alot of viewers after their bait and switch behaviour. Hundreds reported shenanigans on their app where it’d force you to watch and episode twice in variously described circumstances. Bribed people left and right with things like that screening. Even the official critics fell asleep. Many longtime film analysts along with actors and film students/professionals give basic criticism and in depth look at the editing and so forth which causes it to fall flat on its face. Abandons plot left and right. Full of member berries. Just because we got fake Tom Bombadil doesn’t mean we’ll flip onto our backs to play with the jingling keys. Balrog wasn’t awoken until thousands of years later. They’re horridly depicted scenarios which often aren’t canon: were separated by hundreds of years. Some of them by thousands. Not cool. Amazon is known to be corrupt.

Yeah, morgoth was original super evil guy. You would have to read the Silmarillion tto get that lore. But Sauron served him because he wanted things to be efficient and was attracted to evil through that. Morgoth had balrogs and some survived in deep places and outskirts. When he was destroyed sauron took over after a long long time, and he used his shape shifting and such to trick people. He forged the one ring. The tv series covers that last part, although it is pretty terrible and not worth watching except to hate it with friends. Even the end of Return of the King they botched. I know there were time concerns, but they left off a huge part of the story. That saruman and worm tongue escaped to the shire and the hobbits had to organize a militia and beat them.

As has been said before it is a partial re-telling of much of the old testament, along with perhaps gnostic ideas. Although I'm not sure if he had actually come in contact with that type of stuff. The descendants of Elrond have the choice of immortality as elves or mortality as humans because Elrond is called 'half-elven' even though he's biologically more than 'half'. Aragorn's song about Beren and Luthien tells the story of the first human/elf marriage. Elrond had a twin brother and they were given the choice of which kinship they wanted. The twin (Elros) chose to be human and is a long dead, several thousand years separated, ancestor of Aragorn. He was the first king of Numenor, an Island awarded to the men who fourght with the Elves against a more powerful dark lord, of whom Saruman was a lieutenant. Elros was also the uncle of Arwen, the elf who is engaged to Aragorn. BTW, Numenor is long dead as well, swallowed up by sea when the 25th and last king turned completely to evil.

And if you become a tad bit more lively you’ll have much more people tune in. Some might think your bored or uninterested. Saruman NEVER served Sauron nor bent to him at all in the books. The Gandalf locked in the Tower bit is explained ONLY in the Unfinished Tales Book: In [manuscript-C) The Black Riders arrived at the Gate of Isengard while Gandalf was still a prisoner in the tower. In this account, Saruman, in fear & despair, & perceiving the full horror of service to Mordor, resolved suddenly to yield to Gandalf, & to beg for his pardon & help. Temporizing at the Gate, he admitted that he had Gandalf within, & said that he would go & try to discover what he knew; if that were unavailing, he would deliver Gandalf up to them. Then Saruman hastened to the summit of Orthanc - & found Gandalf gone. Away south against the setting moon he saw a great Eagle flying towards Edoras. See, the thing is he was always master of studying the enemy & even being able to think like they do to always know exactly the best ways to handle ever situation and so on, but the thing is he didn't just become the enemy, he at this time in a sense for once actually grew afraid of him, probably Sauron did what Sauron did with Finrod Felagund in the duel of visions, (Galadriel’s elder brother who by the way was the most important in the Legendarium & is the main reason the third age even exists) which basically widdled Saruman with various visions of the past and future until it wore him down, but Saruman(Curumo) was the mostly already becoming weary due to what was called The Long Defeat, magic bleeding out from the lands of middle earth and subsequently certain things become less and less possible and the elves begin to go west. Even the ones who never wished to leave middle earth and many of which were born here by the thousands. So him also being a student and helper of Aulë of the Valar he was going to fight fire with fire and make a bid for the ring just so Sauron could never regain full power and if Saruman found a way to release himself from his power restrictions even by any small margin or worked with Eru in some way it might have worked out in the end if things went differently enough to where such action from him would be needed. Ontop of that he was growing ever jealous of Gandalf for he received the Varya from Círdan and prior to that was chosen by the other Valar, Nienna’s chosen champion to go to middle earth. But Gandalf(Olórin back then) refused over and over and exclaimed his fear of Sauron(Mairon), varya I feel would have kindle the heart of Saruman to stay strong as he had been fighting the evils of the world for a very long time since he had been sent to Middle Earth. And for the is reason Saruman wished to hold the ring at hostage. Keep Sauron from taking back his full strength and basically use it to stave off The Long Defeat. Saruman is very complex. The Hobbit movies actually shows how he was even 60 years ago during Bilbo’s story. He was one of the main forces thwarting Sauron for over 2000 years. The Númenoreans: the high men of the west; gifted Saruman with Orthanc which was of their making. Now known as Isengard. [[Correction given to me recently to which I’ll need to double check for myself regardless: The Númenoreans didn't give Isengard to Saruman, after Helm Hammerhand died, Saruman returned from his journeys in the far east, and sort of "occupied it by friendly force", Fréaláf (the new King of Rohan) told Saruman to contact Beren (Gondor's Steward), which gladly gave Orthanc's key to the wizard (grave mistake). ]] - Saruman is actually trying to doublecross sauron and wanted Gandalf to simply help him subdue toe rings evil so they could use it to defeat Sauron together as a single duo-unit. He wants the ring for himself for what was still a noble reason. He thinks he can control it. The little orcs around saruman are from mordor - sauron's orcs sent to help saruman but also to spy on him. The big fighting orcs - the uruk hai - are loyal only to Saruman. Orcs are like that. But it’s why Saruman’s orders are a bit vague - to avoid sauron's orcs knowing what Saruman is doing. The movies dont make this bit of the story very clear. But notice that, while Saruman knows where the fellowship is he never lets Sauron Know.

Oromë (one of the Valar.) called them Eldar, that means "People of the Stars", the Elves that chose to follow him, because when they awoke the stars were the only lights in the sky and for this reason they loved Varda and her creations. The stars were in their eyes. Much like the lady of light!

Part 1 - Legolas is 2,131-2731, still quite young but a prodigy of his time. Elves aged differently than men and dwarves. They did not suffer from old age or disease, and their lives were not limited by a fixed number of years. Instead, they aged very slowly, remaining youthful and vigorous for much longer than mortals. Though they could voluntarily leave their bodies and the ultimate thing that can kill them is grief or Sorrow that’s palpable enough for them to just not wish to live anymore.

Part 2 - Here are the ages of some of the main Elves of the Third Age, as of the War of the Ring: Elrond Half-elven - over 8,586 while his daughter is around 3000 old! And is said to be the last elf to ever be born upon Arda. Yet again marking the ending of the age of the firstborn (Elves). 2. Galadriel - around 20,000(180.000 in solar human years [1 elf year is one lifetime of man] but time is counted, felt & experienced very differently before the birth of the sun and moon. ❤) 3. Celeborn - 20,000; (he may have been alive before her birth or around the same time as his lineage that he lived amongst his forefathers and kin might suggest he is older but they are both very ancient.) 4. Glorfindel (replaced scenes with Arwen in the movies but it helped prop up Aragorn’s Film character progression. I still think they could have incorporated them both in the scenes somehow and included the other important stuff that went on in that forest meeting Glorfindel and his company of elves)- he’s over 2,000 (although he had been re-embodied after dying in the First Age which means his Fëa {spirit} is far older than 2000.) 5. Thranduil - over 8000, (as he was born in the First Age and lived in Doriath with his father Oropher; Thranduil is also the father of Legolas. (As Haldir mentioned him when speaking to Legolas in Lothlòrien during the first movie’s extended scene. He shares the same kindred elven clan as to Celeborn(Galadriel’s husband). It's worth noting that Elves could choose to die voluntarily, usually when they grew weary of life or when they had fulfilled their purpose in the world. However, their spirits would then depart to the Halls of Mandos and could eventually be re-embodied in a new body I meant to add that Frodo was 51 when he left due to the whole Gandalf coming back to the shire after many years. that explains why his youthful appearance didn’t change much throughout the entire film! - One source is 2931 years old. Legolas was portrayed by Orlando Bloom. In the "official movie guide" for The Lord of the Rings, a birthdate for Legolas is set to 87 of the Third Age. This would make him 2931 years old at the time of the War of the Ring. - Unfortunately, Legolas’ age remains a mystery, which is a shame as Tolkien detailed the age of all the other Fellowship members, and even that of less famous Elves as Arwen, Elladan and Elrohir. But we can use various other methods to get the closest estimate! I provide the books used below! There is reason to believe based on what we know about the Elves' life and about his father Thranduil that Legolas may have been very old, just that old, or very young. He may have been as old as the sons of Elrond who were just a century younger than all the 3000 years old Third Age, far older, or younger. His estimated age varies very much. There are several mentions of his father Thranduil in the annals of the Second Age. Although it is said that was his grandfather Thranduil's father Oropher the leader of the Silvan Elves in the Last Alliance, Thranduil is mentioned as one of the princes of Sindar who established realms amid the Silvan Elves before Barad-dûr was founded. In the beginning of this age many of the High Elves still remained. Most of these dwelt in Lindon west of the Ered Luin; but before the building of the Barad-dûr many of the Sindar passed eastward, and some established realms in the forests far away, where their people were mostly Silvan Elves. Thranduil, king in the north of Greenwood the Great, was one of these. We're talking about some 6000 years here, and Thranduil himself was older as he was already a prince of Doriath and Father Oropher was a cousin or nephew of Elu Thingol, King of Doriath (One Of Galadriel’s Uncles). He was very likely born still in Beleriand in the First Age, which was until its destruction the home of the Sindar - Oropher we know for sure came from Doriath. However, even If Thranduil was indeed that old, Legolas was not necessarily a little less ancient. About Elvish fatherhood: But except in the first three generations the begetting of children by Elfmen did not usually follow immediately on attaining “age 24” (though “betrothal” often did, or even “marriage”). It was by degrees postponed, until soon “age 48” became regarded as the optimum age for the beginning of fatherhood, though it was often delayed until 60 (sc. 24 years of growth + 36 life-years). [4] Of course, begetting of further children could happen later than this. It could occur up to about a male age of 96 - later than this age (96) a first-begetting seldom occurred. In 24 years when they reached maturity, the rate was of growth or 12x (288 years). Thranduil may have fathered Legolas when that young (if Legolas was his only and oldest son). But it was usually at 48 which is an additional of 24 life-years of 144x (288+3456 = 3744 years) so Legolas was probably born-depending on Thranduil's and his unknown spouse age- in the end of the Second Age (maybe before) or in the beginning of the Third Age. It is possible though unlikely, however, that he was only some three hundred years younger than his father. Or If Thranduil did delay until 60 (5472 years) as often happened he was born well after the beginning of the Third Age making Legolas younger than the sons of Elrond. It is very unlikely but not impossible that he was younger than that, we know for certain that he was already mature, so at the very least he was 288 years old. To sum up in extremes, Legolas could have been so old as to be born at the end of the First Age or so young as to be only a handful of centuries-old at the end of the Third. The most reasonable estimate is of some 3000 years old, with 2000 years not being unlikely either. Reference to his old age can be seen when he says that the 500 years of Rohan were of little amount for him, and when he refers to Aragorn and Gimli as children. As for his experience, impossible to say as he is an unusual known and mysterious character. But given his age it must have been great. Sources: (1) The Lord of the Rings. The Return of the King (2) The Nature of Middle-earth - we can give a highly educated guess regarding his age. I'm not here to disagree or agree with anyone. He's not ANCIENT. Nor is he young AF. He's a bit younger or older than Arwen. The last of the Eldar to ever be born save maybe the rest of the Avari clan. Hope I made sense and it was enjoyable to read. We can deduce which elves were the last to ever be born upon Arda. Thranduil himself & Celeborn literally lived in Dortiath. Legolas was born near the beginning of the third age or near end of the second age. He's not young. He's around the same age as Elladan and Elrohir.

Galadriel means the Lady of Light. Her hair holds the light of the two trees...one gold, one silver, that lit the world, day and night, before the sun and moon and stars were made. A strand of her hair that held this light made the silmarils, impossibly beautiful gemstones that were so desirable that evil was created out of the desire for them. An elf that was so powerful that he was basically GOD asked Galadriel for a single strand of her hair. She refused. She gave Gimli three strands of her hair....possibly the greatest gift ever given to any character in the history of fiction.

“I shall NOT be Dark. (All evil) will despair”, The elves (Galadriel especially is one of the few remaining that existed before the sun & moon. They pre-existed day & night.) How utterly, completely terrifying do you think it would be for your whole world to irrevocably change in a matter of an hour? For the thousands of years of (what you would come to know as twilight to be abruptly ended in a profundity of genuinely painful light and an infinity of colour? Of the joy, wonder and terror of distinguishing the difference between green and blue for the very first time in your whole life?) She is talking about the immediate, majestic sublimity of reality that one experiences in it's totality for the very first time. How on earth could that not be so terrifying as to threaten one's sanity? Galadriel with the ring would be exactly as beautiful and horrifying. I personally would not know whether to weep bitterly and perfectly, or claw my eyes out through the sheer, unutterable terror of her being in such a circumstance. But know this: she was showing Frodo what would happen if someone else got the ring. She wasn’t tempted at all. Gandalf tells. Galadriel shows. See the difference now. Two sides of the same coin. Both were needed. (But yes there was a more fluid beauty full of colour before the rise of the sun. Her uncle, Fingolfin, whilst in middle earth beheld the first rising of the sun and to see this wide field before him in even more definition than before while he was in Middle Earth. This was also the beginning of the dominion of men.) - • “Beautiful & Terrible as the dawn” Galadriel was quite correct to call the morning and night both “beautiful and terrible…”. In truth the physical and metaphysical natures of morning and night were both by turns beautiful and terrible. First the morning. Physically the morning is the result of the golden fruit of Laurëlin, transformed into a vessel by Aulë’s craftsmen, hallowed by Varda and piloted by the fiery Maiarin spirit Arien. The sun was so terrifyingly powerful that its radiance instilled fear even into Melkor’s heart and defied the assault of his minions. She literally gave up her physical form to take her original form and enveloped the sun; becoming its flames we see today. Physically the sun is a beautiful golden orb yet it is simultaneously terrifying in its intensity and cannot be observed directly for more than an instant without pain. Metaphysically the morning is beautiful because it diminishes the evil power of those creatures who haunt the night, gives strength to the righteous and because it illuminates the serene loveliness of Valinor and Middle-earth. Metaphysically the morning is terrible because it obscures the light of the stars and sheds light on the ugly reality of Arda Marred, whose very substance is corrupted by the power of Melkor. Last the night. The night is the Void surrounding the globe of Arda, which existed even before the creation of the Ainur at the beginning of time itself. Physically the beauty of the night lies in the fact . Physically the terror of the night is that it conceals the beauty of Arda and limits the senses of the elves and gives strength to the creatures of evil such as orcs, trolls and the Ringwraiths. Metaphysically the night is beautiful because it is during the hours of darkness that the stars of Varda, the most beloved creations for the elves, shine most brightly. Metaphysically the terror of the night for elves, who are irretrievably bound to the world of Arda, is that the Void represents the interstellar coldness which is the prison of Morgoth. Terrible in its more original archaic form didn’t always mean “bad” (the sun stuff was to move it into a place where Melkor couldn’t go by virtue of how the Valar and Maiar are bound to the world until it’s ending; (which isn’t the true end either. It’s deep stuff. There ends up another song of creation which all kindreds take part in and working with the powers of that long ago past of our world to rebuild everything. Even the Mountains too, healing it after Dagor Dagorath, Also known as the final battle, the worlds ending. Becoming the greater version of the original form before Melkor’s discord into the first music and so forth which dictated eventually what all ended up ensuing when they entered the world the first time which also was interesting because when they entered it after seeing the complete version it hadn’t been done yet so that was millions of years of work which lead to Middle Earth and the other lands being the remnants of it. Including Valinor being the only remnant of an even older world. At that time of building and tending to the world when the world was young.)

There are a lot of magic rings in Middle Earth. Gandalf didn't begin to suspect Bilbo had th one ring until he pulled his disappearing stunt and referred to the ring as Precious. Sam wasn't being overly dramatic about that one step being the farthest away from home he'd ever been. Most hobbits never leave the Shire. They prefer to avoid the rest of Middle Earth and the "big" people.

“I shall NOT be dark, all EVIL will despair” part 2 - All creatures whose flesh are nourished by the matter of Arda have a tendency towards Melkor AKA Morgoth, for greater or lesser. Since Melkor poured his evil power into the very existence and essence of the world(Morgoth’s Ring” book explains a lot including how and when he put a portion of his remaining power into the earth itself. Sure, Galadriel was born in the Undying Lands where there was supposed to be no evil (souls of the Elves are greatly less subject to making faulty decisions), but Galadriel & the rest of her father's kin were directly targeted by the Evil Lord himself. Melkor corrupted a decent portion of the Noldor, basically telling them things along the lines of “My Valarin kin are cooping you all up in Valinor.”, which wasn’t their ancestral homeland to begin with, like Middle Earth was, Some were affected little, most were affected to greater degrees, and Galadriel was the least affected woman by the lies of Melkor, which were “sweet but poisoned honey" as she’d call his words. Her natural pious tendency towards goodness & kindness as shown by her ability to read the hearts of everyone and all living beings around her which aids her to provide what anyone truly needs. Due to the magic bleeding from the world as the ages went on; thanks to Morgoth’s Ring poisoning the earth long ago; lead to a what if scenario in her mind as she’d be the only living creature left with the skills & power to even use the ring. She didn’t need her ring at all to block him out of her realm telepathically as well as read his mind from afar without him knowing. But there is a difference between good people who are a bit morally challenged and the evil people. The evil folk act upon their impulses and unlawful desires, while the good folk overcome such flaws within themselves (and for some not always they can masterfully do this). Galadriel WOULD NEVER listen to Melkor and tread the path of toxic pride and ambition. Galadriel has a Fëa spirit that’s only grown larger as the ages passed on and on. Enough to channel into an effect that threw down fortress walls, without tiring her at all. And with that much Fëa, she is capable of holding her own against Maiar for a good long while, much like her brother Finrod did against Sauron, or her half uncle Fëanor did against Balrogs, and her full Uncle Fingolfin against Morgoth himself and nearly slayed the physical form of the fallen Vala himself! Fëanor effectively lost claim to the crown when he dragged his house to Middle Earth. Where he promptly died a heroic death after slaying several Balrogs at the Dagor-nuin-Giliath; The Elves first encountered Lord Of Balrogs named Gothmog in the Dagor-nuin-Giliath; (meaning “the battle fought under stars”) before the first rising of the Moon. In that battle, Fëanor's fury had caused him to draw forward of the main force of the Noldor, and so he came upon Gothmog with only a small guard left around him that rushed so deep into enemy territory. Fëanor slayed 2 or 3 balrogs at once & Gothmog slayed him after one bound him suddenly with its primordial flame whip when he was supposed to have an uninterrupted “one on one” duel with Gothmog but one wasn’t wanting to play fair. But he was fatally wounded and so his sons and host moved him away to a safe place where his body burned up from the fires of his own spirit. Even with a great ring like Nenya, Galadriel had enough of a boost in her Fëa(spirit) , where she could sustain an unassailable magical realm against Maiar and virtually anything on Middle-Earth. Only problem was when Sauron wore the one ring, she had to take off Nenya, and had to lose that Maia level Fëa spirit from the modernly termed “boosted power up” With the one ring, Galadriel would have such a boost in her Fëa spirit, that she’d literally become stronger than the foundations of the Earth. She never once is called queen or desires to be called such a thing, she and her husband Celeborn became the wiseman and wisewoman of that realm; after the previous elven lord Amroth died, (how he died is shown in a wonderful song by Tolkien that was brought to life by Brociliande) and his wife Nimrodel disappeared ontop of the fact Amroth’s Successor later died as well in the “Last Alliance” where Amdir died, (same battle shown in the prologue to Fellowship Of The Ring), All Evil Despairs at her presence let alone hearing her name on the wind. (They even founded Eregion together. she gracefully left after Annatar>Sauron sowed seeds of rebellion against anyone that had any level of lineage connected to the Noldor.) The Nazgûl themselves avoid her realm every chance they get to the point of choosing to go the long way around for over 100 miles just to avoid her. (So she’s definitely scary to foul entities that have turned away from Eru Îlluvatar the one AllFather.) She’s a totally good character. Aragorn even says to the Fellowship as they enter Lothlórien, “There is in her and this land no evil, unless a man bring it hither himself. Then let him beware!” If you’re going by her portrayal in the movies, you might think she has an evil element to her character, but that came from Peter Jackson’s portrayal of the addictive, coercive power of the Ring. When Frodo offered her the Ring, it presented her with visions of herself as the all-powerful benevolent Goddess of Middle-Earth. Luckily, she was smart & intuitive enough to realize that the Ring was totally evil, and despite the best of intentions, it would have turned her evil in the end-but she still would have appeared to be beautiful and good. I don’t agree with Jackson’s “drowned Galadriel” portrayal of her being tempted by the Ring-I think she’d have appeared as a supernatural being of divine beauty, and her regular appearance was close to that already, but how do you show that in a movie? Apparently, in her youth in Valinor, she was somewhat of a rebel, but that’s not necessarily evil. She certainly could have fallen into the same trap as her uncle Fëanor did, of thinking that everyone was entitled to her opinion-but she kept her ego in check. (If you’re not sure what I’m referring to there; please read The Silmarillion and “Unfinished Tales”.) No matter how noble her reason was to use the ring as a last resort, especially if said fellowship fell off the “edge of the knife” as she called it. she had a change of heart which happened in the middle of talking to Frodo. Galadriel left Valinor(The Undying Lands) for a reason - and it was different from most of the other elves. She wasn’t with her uncle Fëanor, who wished to make war against Morgoth and retrieve the Silmarils - she was not wishing to go to war, and had no interest in the Silmarils in which Melkor stole from Fëanor which was the surviving light of the two trees of Valinor within them that the only Fëanor; the master of all elven smiths could have accomplished but it could not be done a second time as is any pure creation of one’s heart, especially in regards to the elves and Valar alike. Though she traveled with her other uncle, Fingolfin, her goals were not aligned completely with his either despite her full support of her noble and regal uncle Fingolfin in general. - They both wished to keep an eye on Fëanor and make sure the Noldor were in good hands - Galadriel wasn’t interested in Fëanor and wanted her own realm. After spending some time in Doriath, Galadriel and her husband Celeborn passed to the east out of Beleriand and passed eastward through Eriador and over the Misty Mountains; to where she founded her own realm in what became renamed as Lothlórien. Her motivation and goal was to preserve her realm, possibly at any means necessary. With Sauron’s return in the Third Age, Galadriel was forced to ask herself how far she would go to preserve her realm. If Frodo failed, she must forsake her own ring & her realm. If he succeeds, her ring will lose power and her realm will fade. Would she seize the ring, taking Sauron’s power for her own, to save her realm? She decided she would not. She had decided to “test” the Fellowship, to find some flaw that would allow her to justify seizing the ring, and she did find a flaw - in herself. She stated to Frodo, that by telling her that he would offer her the ring if she asked, that she had come to test his heart, but found that he was testing hers. She had a change of heart, she would pass into the West, and remain Galadriel. Which one is better? Being born completely good and living your whole life without any (chance) evil could sprout within her (impossible), or having a character growth ?

In book; Isildur NEVER succumbs to The One Ring, instead spends time being a fair ruler, gave power away to the people INSTEAD of being power hungry. He comes to realize that he is not powerful enough to truly bend the ring to his will. That it will eventually overcome him. Isildur resolves to give the ring to Elrond but is killed on the way to Rivendel. It's a tragic story of a man that tries to right his wrong but ultimately fails. In the books isildur literally repented and was about to bring the ring to Rivendell and apologize as he recognized it was beyond him even for a great numenorean connected to the faithful line of the mighty Elendil I preface the prologue & war, other depictions I LOVE, captured the themes WELL, the vibe of the whole trilogy! The significance of the duel between Elendil & Sauron was Nerffed; (He wasn’t some random old bloke in armour getting smacked around) This man was MIGHTY and gleaming with power which you’ll find out in the great videos you’ll soon react to with joy! * He and Gil-Galad; last true Elven King battled Sauron and slayed Sauron’s physical body and both died in the process. GilGalad was held high by the face for all free peoples to see as he then incinerated his bodily form to a crisp of ash! Isildur was part of the fight too but not as prominently and he just comes up to the body to cut the ring finger off and…. So one example is how easily Sauron is killed in the intro. * • He's set up as this super powered badass, but all you have to do is cut off his finger? That's not how it went down in the book, where the greatest man-king and the greatest elven-king had to double-team Sauron to strike down his body, but were killed in the effort (Isildur then cuts the ring from the corpse). Especially for elves the title of king has many meanings & by the Third Age there isn’t a population large enough to even attempt to such a thing as creating a unified kingdom, which would put a target on their backs, let alone many of them are beyond all of that anyway as it’s seen as doing more harm than anything good. * They also seen what happened when the elves fell upon the swords of their own hubris and passion no matter if it was for the right reasons some of the time. That it always ended up in some sort of tragedy which sometimes even damaged the earth itself. They had long known about what’s called the Long Defeat as ever since Morgoth’s marring of the land itself; pouring his remnants into it that caused the “magic” to slowly drain away from the land itself, which is sad because for ages several clans of elves were born there. even the greatest ancestors were “born” in middle earth awakening to the stars ! Many of who are left have accepted the next phase of their life which is to become councillors, healers and loremasters to those with the heart to listen and the desire to learn. But above all the guardians and custodians of several things and the world itself for as long as they can remain!❤ The elves “exist” as long as the world does. And Tolkien made it obvious in many ways that it’s our world as he restored Anglo Saxon culture/Mythologies and folklore, and their languages too alongside Irish, Welsh and Finnish mythologies too. Especially Norwegian(of which I am) This is what Amazon (the show that shall not be named) didn’t deliver either [[AKA the actual story which inspired everything we love into existence with games and movies and books and so forth. Skyrim, elder scrolls, oblivion, Diablo, and world of Warcraft and D&D. And Game Of Thrones was hugely inspired by Tolkien… yet as the godfather of everything and the heart of what caused many peoples lives to be saved cannot get the justice it deserves for adaptations? People literally conquered cancer because of the books and the trilogy, the books were read to their children for years. All 25 of them. The man was a hugely respected scholar and professor in the world. Translated ancient artifacts and hieroglyphs and petroglyphs and so forth for the government etc. (JRR Tolkien even rejected being recruited into the CIA several times & he wrote everyone by letter and referenced the dudes who came to him as “little boys who knew not what they got themselves into” which showed his fearlessness.). The readers of the trilogy that came out are who he writes back to despite always replying to everyone back and forth. Many people have shared the stories regarding these conversations which were past down throughout the family lines of the people who had a personal relationship with Tolkien which was hundreds of people when he was alive. Thousands. (Some are in video format too or happened to be shared later on in the video or comes up during a video about him and his work. Especially nowadays when many of us came out of the woodwork to defend professor Tolkiens legacy from amazons money grubbing hands and so forth. Giving many channels a new lease on life where some make Tolkien related content now amongst other things they create content wise.

All 17 rings were meant to go to elves (300-500years of infiltration & deception down the drain.) but Mairon of the Maiar(primordial angelic beings in simple terms as they are beyond angels) disguised as a high elf named Annatar when he came to the elves pretending to be an emissary from Valinor on behalf of the Valar so it makes sense how alluring the ring is and how strong it’s pull on people is. (A bit too instant in the movies though) - Galadriel soon saw right through him and especially when after speaking with him regarding not remembering him when in Valinor long ago where she learned from all the Valar thanks to being dominantly Vanyar/Teleri side over her Noldorin side where she gleaned from that encounter that she did not study under Aulë the Vala with any elf named Annatar ! But later named Sauron by the elves as a cursed name meaning “the abhorred” and deceiver! Similar to his former name as Gorthaur. (Correction - The Sindar Elves in Beleriand gave Mairon the name Gorthaur, meaning "dread abomination," while others called him Sauron, meaning "the abhorred" or "the abominable," a play on his original name. Gorthaur was when he ruled in the first age as lord of all werewolves in isle of werewolves called Taur Ín Gaurhoth) After all of this, The three elven rings were made in secret without Saurons touch upon them thanks to Celebrimbor! Remember Gandalf before he became Gandalf was the same species of entity Sauron used to be!! Wow hey? The Rings in this case, would have lost their powers eventually due to the lack of the One Ring and possibly because they were designed to defeat evil, & evil in the form of Sauron had been defeated twice already in the past. The Three Elven Rings served their purpose for a long time. Two out of three of them had several different bearers Unlike the other Rings, the main purpose of the Three is to "heal and preserve", as when Galadriel used Nenya to preserve her realm of Lothlórien over long periods. The Elves made the Three Rings to try to halt the passage of time, or as Tolkien had Elrond say, "to preserve all things unstained". There is problem here with the Rings, the Three were supposed to be never touched by Sauron and that's why they were not corrupting…Sauron had not taken part in their making which made the Three more 'pure' unsullied by his dark power, unlike the Nine and Seven Rings! But Sauron in the show touched the very material they were made of!!! So technically he could have tainted them and corrupted! Even appendices of Lot tell us the order of making the rings, so they didn't even need the righs to more detailed writings in UT or Silmarillion: 1200 Sauron endeavours to seduce the Eldar. Gil-galad refuses to treat with him; but the smiths of Eregion are won over. The Númenoreans begin to make permanent havens. c. 1500 The Elven-smiths instructed by Sauron reach the height of their skill. They begin the forging of the Rings of Power. c. 1590 The Three Rings are completed in Eregion. c. 1600 Sauron forges the One Ring in Orodruin. He completes the Barad-dûr. Celebrimbor perceives the designs of Sauron. 1693 War of the Elves & Sauron begins. The Three Rings are hidden." 'Did you not hear me, Gloin?' said Elrond. 'The Three were not made by Sauron, nor did he ever touch them. But of them it is not permitted to speak. So much only in this hour of doubt I may now say. They are not idle. But they were not made as weapons of war or conquest: that is not their power. Those who made them did not desire strength or domination or hoarded wealth, but understanding, making, and healing, to preserve all things unstained. These things the Elves of Middle-earth have in some measure gained, though with sorrow. But all that has been wrought by those who wield the Three will turn to their undoing, and their minds and hearts will become revealed to Sauron, if he regains the One." - The 3 Elven Rings are not susceptible to “The One Ring” in any direct way.. They’re only tied by fate to lose their power if Sauron is defeated completely & absolutely. As they were made by the elves and as always they make things for a purpose and pour their literal spirit into things they create. So if Sauron is defeated then the three rings power will fade and basically become almost useless or diminished versions of their original design since by this era magic has bled from the world by a huge degree thanks to Morgoth’s poisoning the world itself with his very essence that he poured into it. Called The Long Defeat By The Elves and The Men Of The West.

Gandalf, Sauron, and the Balrog are all of the same order, servants of the demi-gods, who took on shapes befitting their temperament to some extent. Frodo, beginning when he sensed that he had to get off the road, has enhanced senses because of the ring, though he doesn't realize it. Gollum is body-capture, the role being played by Andy Serkis. The smaller bad guys are Orcs of Mordor, the larger Uruk-Hai of Isengard (Saruman). Saruman thinks he can, at some point in the future, wrest rule from Sauron. He believes, like all elites, that only the rich and 'wise' can rule lesser men and perfect the world.

As also a fan of Star Wars, yes, George Lucas was influenced by it and SW kinda feels like LoTR in space; the themes of selfish sacrifice, power corruption, divine providence, loyalty & friendship are all there, along the epic battles and stunning visuals too.
