If it's animated, sure I can see the potential. But if they try doing it live action? I don't think they can pull it off the very mystical elements of it and I'd say that is the most important part to emphasize the scale and the cosmic horror.

If you linger too long it finds you and you're now engaged in a chase or an unexpected boss fight you may or may not be able to survive (encourages creative tactics and not just fighting your way through the encounter).

filoni is actually on record as wanting to bring them in 6 years ago. so Ahsoka could be a way of going in that direction. especially as they need a major villian for the crossover trilogy (mando, Ahsoka, rebels and so on) thrawns good. but hes not good enough for a trilogy in my opinion

The Mnggal-Mnggal is much worse. Abeloth can at the very least be somewhat reasoned with. She is insane but she still has a mortal mind and there are things that can be done to avoid or trap her for long enough for you to never see her in your lifetime. If the Mnggal-Mnggal makes it onto your homeworld the planet is pretty much screwed.

I wish you would make a greater distinction between cannon and non cannon material. I understand theirs a lot of story to tell between the original trilogy & post return of the jedi, & for many Star Wars fans, I’m sure legends was all you had for years, but I was born in 94. My dad made sure I watched the original trilogy and when I say original I mean HAN SHOT FIRST!. But when i was 6 I had phantom menace and so on. Books were never part of my cannon. When the Disney bought Lucus films I was happy, they wiped all non film from the slate of official cannon and I thought it would be a great way to reorganize the best of all the non cannon into a cohesive extended universe to keep me happy for years to come. Instead I got “somehow palpatine returned”. Rebels and potentially Ashoka are here for me to save my love for this time frame of the starwars universe. I got pergills, nightsisters, dark Jedi, and a live action thrawn in a limit episode run ( wtf Disney ) I can’t be adding legends space ghosts to the list of new enemies anytime soon. Ya feel me?

Unknown. Starweirds vary from incorporeal specters that act as the dark side of the force manifesting itself in "physical" form, to malevolent and incredibly powerful dark side spirits, to the result of ancient dark side rituals (which may or may not have gone wrong). They exist in vacuum in the unknown region and outer rim, are force sensitive, hate the light side of the force, can shift through solid objects, and devour life. Looking them in the eyes enrages them, they have a high pitched scream capable of causing physical harm (like a banshee), they implant visions in the heads of their victims, and they can inflict physical injury despite being immune to it themselves (no blaster or lightsaber can hit them).

Ok, these Starweirds are cool but they are way overpowered! I mean planet eaters? Come on. It would be cool if Filoni puts an encounter with one of these with Ahsoka when they leave to the unknown regions. Of course they would have to dial back its powers significantly as they are way too overpowered. A cool horror encounter in the depth of space would be super cool!

Yea legends did a lot of this. It came up with really cool concepts and storylines but there were just so many planet destroying entities and objects that it kind of became overwhelming. Like a space wraith that randomly appears on ships and is unstoppable to all but Jedi, leaving behind abandoned ships, and there's hardly any Jedi left in the galaxy is scary enough. Especially if there's a few dozen of these things running around, the amount of help Ashoka would need to deal with them would be crazy.
