You have to turn Ray Tracing, on then off then on again to get it to work. You're getting the same fps as a 4090 does, the game is broken.

In the cfg folder it renders 1280x720 then upscales to the Monitors resolution. FSR Degrades the performance. In the cfg folder I run 66% Resolution scale set the resolution back to Native 1440P Then use FSR.

Same, I will be waiting the usual 3-6 months and follow the patching, DLSS3 FG implementation etc. Unless a game can run at 4K120 on my 5800X3D, I won't be buying it. I want a stable experience, done with the fluctuations due to bad optimization. Jedi Survivor will get there within the next 12 months for sure.

Have you undervolted the 5800x3d? If not you may squeeze a bit more from it via PBO2Tuner. Mine managed -30 all cores and pegs itself at 4450Hz under load

If the cpu is "pegged" at it's fastest Hz it usually means that it can't keep up with the game, it should fluctuate a tiny bit in games like these were the gpu should take most of the hit!

I have a 5800X3d cpu and an RTX 4080 gpu, 16GB ram 3,600mhz, I game at 1440p, 144mhz monitor...and I know now, from the onslaught of information as of late, that this game NEEDS patch updates/optimization for PC. I won't watch much more of this video because I want to wait until this is sorted out, and I want to be surprised WHEN/IF the optimization for PC issues are fixed. Until then, all my pre-2023 games run impeccably. Cheers!

Funny how the performance hardly changes no matter the resolution is. I don't know how to put it but there's gotta be something wrong about game optimization these days. These outrageous system requirements on top of poor performance are giving me bad vibes about the future of PC gaming in general and as much as I'd like to keep gaming on my PC rig, it just feels illogical given how next gen consoles offer almost the same level of graphical fidelity at a fraction of the price of most expensive PC rig and performs miles better. I don't recall PC optimization being this bad in the last couple years. You'd probably come across specific cases of a few titles not performing well on PC in the past but these decade felt the worst. Almost every game coming out have such terrible performance issues at launch and don't seem to get better despite numerous patch updates and only people with expensive 40 and 7000 cards are the only ones who are able overcome such issues leaving out the low and mid tier segment which comprises the majority of the PC market and that's quite worrying in my opinion.

It's because what fsr does is lower the internal resolution and upscale. When you are already CPU bound in a game, upscaling won't help to increase performance

RayTracing performance trade off even for a 4090 is not even worth it, so while a 4080 is better in RT, it's also pretty pointless for like 98% of gamers. 7900XTX is superior when it counts and that is in raster gaming performance, more FPS, more powerful GPU, more VRAM by 8GB! (24GB vs 16GB). If someone is into gaming, the choice is clear. 7900XTX is KING over the 4080, both for price and value.

There's known to be an issue with the RT toggling in this game such that it doesn't actually then on even though the setting says its on. The fact that there is no difference in frame rate here between RT on and off is suspicious. You may want to turn it off and then on again, or else restart the game when you toggle it to be sure.

I think the CPU is streaming shaders and its causing a CPU bottleneck for the GPU. The sub 60% GPU utilization in most of this video is due to poor optimization for PC lack of SSD compression hardware found on consoles. Trying to force that workload on the CPU in the latest new games is clearly a failure. EDIt: I wonder, how would this game perform off a RAM drive partition once the core scheduling issue is patched?

It's not even that, look how low is the CPU usage without RT. 23% utilization overall, with only one thread touching 70% and most of the others barely busy. And yet the framerate struggles to stay around 60 fps. The load on the CPU is rather low in fact (without RT), the optimization is just terrible.

@@kathleendelcourt8136 Most of the work the CPU is doing is shaders and its not a big workload as much as it is slow. SSD to RAM to CPU decompression (latency high) to waiting GPU, that's PC. SSD to decompression chip (little latency penalty) to unified RAM to unified APU, thats console. Not sure how PC competes vs a more efficient hardware flow. Raw power won't work. Answer might be buy a PS5 for games and a PC with cheap GPU for work.

@@rahulpandey9472 I think Forspoken uses it, not going to do enough. Console hardware is more direct metal on metal, its going to be a challenge for PC to compete. a RAM drive or buffer might help but it would need a ton of system RAM.

​@@bodasactra You don't need to continuously compile shaders. Shaders compilation is a one time operation (but needs to be redone with each drivers updates). And if it was a constant data streaming and decompression (and unoptimized) thing like we see in The Last of Us PC port the CPU would be heavily utilized on all cores. The CPU behaviour here is vastly different from TLOU, in TLOU 8 cores CPUs are at 70% overall with some cores seeing 90% utilization, here it's not even 23% overall and just one thread at 70%. It's a completely different thing. And brute force works, again look at the TLOU PC port. Playing with an overkill CPU fixes all performance issues (unless you are running out of VRAM of course).

The game is a PS5 port for the PC. RT is junk CPU bound code, same for tessellation, HDR is broken and CPU thread optimization is garbage. EA is lazy, needs to be sued again.... Because they pushed it to quick for the investors. I would hate to work for them as a developer employee.

The game is CPU bound and yet the CPU utilization is extremely low, barely 23% without Ray Tracing. If your game is bottlenecked by the CPU while there's only one thread hovering around 70% with the others barely utilized there is something very wrong with its optimization.

​​@@club4ghzThat's not the issue with this game. Even at 4K the VRAM usage wasn't higher than 10.5GB. Also, in most modern games the 12 GB 4070 Ti can handle 4K with DLSS 2, especially without RT. It can even exceed 60 FPS in Atomic Heart without DLSS with less than 8GB VRAM usage. The poorly optimised Hogwarts Legacy doesn't even usually exceed 10GB VRAM at 4K without RT (though DLSS 2 is needed to exceed 60 FPS). It's definitely viable overall at 4K with DLSS, at least without RT, but not future proof at all, which is why it should be mainly considered a 1440p card. Nonetheless, the Tom's Hardware rankings show the 4070 Ti performing equally well at 4K as the 3090 which was the fastest 4K card on the market 13 months ago.
