Star Wars KOTOR II Comparison | Xbox vs PC | Port vs Port

Idk if it was in a Kotor II documentary or an interview with Avallone himself, but I heard that LucasArts had originally given Obsidian more time, with the plan of making the game tie-in with the release of ROTS in 2005 instead of Christmas 2004. But because development early on was progressing so well, Obsidian’s CEO declined saying they could have it on time for the holidays (I assume that way the team would have a nice bonus or they wanted to make a good impression since I believe it was the studios’s first job). As we know, things got complicated and when asked for more time, it wasn’t possible since the marketing had already slated the game for Christmas and LucasArts’s mind was already set in having the juicy extra profit from the festive season. So yeah LucasArts was already starting to fall down the dark path, but wished Obsidian had accepted the proposal when it was offered.

from what i heard they actually had a verbal agreement for the game to be released in 2005 but lucasarts pushed the earlier release and obsidian couldn't do anything about because they never had that agreement written down

I love kotor 2. Cool video man. Also imo the best npc follower is mira. Get her to level 21 as a scout. Then turn her into a jedi. Give her only force speed. You have a monster with pistols. It's so over powered lmao

@@Kelphelp yeah her starting class as a scout. She automatically gets the targeting feats for guns. So the player can just pick things like two weapons or the blaster fury feats. Then at level twenty one do the little quest that turns her into a jedi. Then just pick force speed. She will hit with her blasters like 6 or 7 times.

The main reason why LucasArts denied the Obsidian made patch for the game is that would lead to a content discrepancy between XBOX and PC at the time there would have been no way to patch the XBOX version without Live and without charging extra for an expansion pack disc similar to Halo 2 map pack, whereas presumably the PC version would have had a website download for the patch either from LucasArts or Obsidian. LucasArts did not want to create a rift and also did not want to charge XBOX users extra for the patch in any form whether it was XBOX Live or an expansion disc.

Randomly found your channel looking for kotor differences. subbed and added a lot of your port vs port to my watch later. As someone who doesn't PC much, is it easy to get a USB Xbox controller to work with steam? Is the steam workshop mods easy like just one click and drag/drop sort of affair?

Hey man that's what I do and it's my pleasure! I hope you enjoy the vids as you go!! It absolutely is simple to get it working on steam. If you got a 360 or Xbone, a simple connection to the console is all you need, or Bluetooth as well! I can actually play this game at 120 fps now! Apparently there was a performance boost for the PC Steam version :D
