I always questioned whether Luke fell to the Dark side for a brief bit, or if he realized that by doing nothing he was not helping anyone, especially those he cared about. It is not wrong to fight when you have no other choice, when you've exhausted all other alternatives, that is a truth even of the Jedi code. What else could he have done in that moment, pleaded with Vader about going after his own daughter? It clearly didn't bother him to go after his own son, so what alternative did Luke have? Like Leia said about, she held out hope for Ben for so long, but she had finally come to believe he was gone. Luke was in the same situation, there was nothing to be gained by dying without at least trying to make a last stand.

He wanted to kill his own father and gave into his anger. It was righteous anger though. If the Emperor hadn't interrupted Luke, then maybe Luke would have killed Vader. It was only by looking at his mechanical hand and then his father's he snapped out of it

If you could do the part from the battle of Endor part two where Luke gets force lightning and Vader throws Palpatine down the death Star shoot that would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and interpretation of John Williams‘ epic work. When you look at the original six Lucas movies it’s easily John Williams’ best work, I can say this because I’ve been listening to this since I was five all the way back in 91 and I used to get stoked every time I used to see John Williams’ name in any credit where music was involved in a movie. 😜

Same here, Overall I love John Williams work with SW franchise, but the choir part in luke vs vader is just a masterpiece. If you don´t get pump´d and cry with that beautiful piece then you´re not human. That is THE CLIMAX theme. Zimmer´s "Am I not mercyful" piece for Gladiator´s climax comes close in giving me that wonderful feeling. Greetings from France.

There's nothing "Jedi" about giving in to your negative emotions. When this moment starts Luke is angry, full of hatred, he wants to kill, destroy Vader. At this point he is as far away from the Light side as possible. So no. The moment Jedi returned, is the moment when Luke throws away his lightsaber and says that he is a Jedi like his father.

Patryk Derecki while I agree with part of your point. Luke was not far from the light. He never turned. There is nothing wrong with displaying aggressiveness on the battlefront. Luke shouts NEVER and makes it very clear he will “never” turn to the darkness and realizes that if he does not defeat his father it’s impossible to turn him back to the light.

1:18 I came here to see the duel from Qui-Gon Jinn's perspective. He watches the fight as an invisible spirit which Vader only senses, even seeing glimpses of him. Yet despite all that, Jinn believed Anakin will bring balance and his redemption is just close at hand. He would later lend Anakin his strength to throw Palpatine down the shaft. Now if you see Anakin smile after the unmasking, not only did he see his son for the first time but as he is on the verge of death, he sees the ghost of Qui-Gon kneeling next to his son, while Obi-Wan and Yoda are only watching in silence. After Luke says I won't leave you, Jinn had already taken Anakin from his body.

The names of his old friends came back to him. The emporor had killed them He found himself remembering the last words Ashoka had spoken to him. “I won’t leave you. Not this time.” Ashoka. Snips. Rex. What had he said last to them? Before Vader has taken over his mind? “Then you will die” He had sent Rex to Mandalore. With Ashoka. He called back to what he had said to obi wan. “I HATE YOU” Then obi wan has something that Anakin had drowned out with screams of agony. He had always wondered about that. Now he knew what he had said. “You were my brother Anakin. I loved you.” He turned to face the emperor, already struggling to his feet. Darth Vader dead, Anakin charged towards Palpatine
