It's crazy how with Stellar Blade (Shift Ups first console game), I was easily able to switch between v1.00 and any subsequent patch and continue with the same safe file, even during NG+ and hell, it was entirely playable without any issues with no Day 1 patch. I don't even know what they were doing to let this happen. All a savefile does is: save the map you are on, the coordinates you are on, and tons of either bitmask/integer/boolean flags indicating progress, weapons unlocked/upgraded, configuration, etc etc. Even the fact alone, they broke the savegame (or rather how it's interpreted) indicates a change in the game's main script or they even renamed/added variables (why?), which were set to defaults - allowing game breaking bugs and softlocks.

Make sure that everybody knows that it is a non-canon adventure and let your devs go wild. This game could've printed money and F-up the economy for at least a year. (Capital leaving countries to line pockets of Ubisoft people in France.)
