Ahsoka: I won't fight you. Anakin: I've heard that before. A reference to RotJ, when Luke told his father this because he sensed there was good in him.

As Anakin Skywalker, the young Jedi was direct, emotional, and often spoke in a relatively informal manner befitting his age and upbringing. However, when Anakin fully embraced the Sith Lord persona of Darth Vader, he adopted a far more formal, grandiose, and imposing way of speaking. Here, you have a balance personality of the light and dark side from Anakin as a Force ghost and at his full potential.

It has been reported that Hayden, in preparing to return Anakin to live action, made a point of studying the character in the animated "Clone Wars", the show where Anakin's nature was most explored, merging aspects of the Matt Lanter performance with his own. Personally, I love the results.

It's too wonderful to see Anakin finally master both of his natures. He can finally control his strength of being the hero we loved and the villain we feared. His whole life has been a struggle of conflicting emotions and forces beyond his control, but he now hones such power to push Ahsoka forward one more time.

This is the only reason I dislike this. Anakin is a force ghost. He brought balance. Balance is the light side itself, none of the dark side. Why is he using the dark side? Unless he’s just giving Ahsoka a force vision and pretending like he’s using the dark side to help her.
@SocalCoyote
@SocalCoyote 3 ай бұрын
@@rafiki1017 Balance is not favoring one side over the other. Balance is not goodness or badness, but a nature of control. Anakin was a warrior of the light just as he was a warrior of the dark. Such a life forged his spirit to harness the power of both sides of the force. Balancing the natures of the two.
@rafiki1017
@rafiki1017 3 ай бұрын
@@SocalCoyote George specifically said in several interviews balance is the light side itself. The dark side is an abomination. It shouldn’t even exist. Light=good, dark=evil. Anakin brought balance when he converted back to the light, saved his son, and got rid of Pslpatine, the only other person who was willing the dark side. Through Luke, we see that we all have the potential and ability to go dark, but we have to choose the light. We have to choose good over evil. It’s not yin and yang, it’s actually more western than eastern. It just appears eastern. This wasn’t really an argument before Filoni started connecting everything to the mortis gods. On the one hand, I like them because they’re mysterious and resemble the Trinity in a way. On the other, it messes with the Star Wars mythos. Disney keeps doing this. They keep telling us good guys are evil and evil guys are good.

I agree, at least with Filoni. He stays on message pretty consistently with the episodes he does. And that message is the one George Lucas taught him. Leaning on fear, anger, and regret is a horrible way to make decisions in life. Ahsoka up until this episode has done exactly that given events in her past. And Anakin points this out to her. "You're more than that, because I'm more than that." You have to live with a sense of hope and optimism.

Here is what I will say: Anakin brought Ahsoka here to make Her realise that One must not let the past be the reason to define You. Yes, she grew up in an unconventional time, however a key part of being a Jedi is the fact that to counter any potential dark side tendencies is Their compassion and a willingness to use constructive dialogue and openess to new ideas and solutions.

That final sequence with the purrgil made me feel wonder again in a way Star Wars hadn't made me feel since I saw the originals as a kid for the first time. It brings tears and goosebumps every time. People who make money off of stirring hate and bigotry surrounding this franchise these days are toxic. Star Wars is very much alive. And this series has become my second-favorite entry in the entire saga. Just brilliant.

This episode broke me because I watched Episode III in the theater, and I just finished watching The Clone Wars with my daughter, who has learned to love Ahsoka (so much so that at her school party, she was dressed as Ahsoka *my pride). So... seeing Star Wars receiving the love it deserves moved me, seeing Anakin again, and seeing Hera's son say that he was hearing the duel (through the Force) really touched me. We needed this. Disney didn't understand Star Wars, but Dave Filoni did... what satisfaction! And greetings from Brazil!

"I won't fight you" "I've heard that before" Pure chill-inducing lines right there, because we all know what that's referencing, Anakin remembering Luke said that to him. I think Jacen made Hera hear what he was hearing, or the force was so strong there that anyone could hear it. Man, Hayden is a master at using the lightsaber when he's casted. He even did his RotS behind the back spin too. Man, the flashbacks ruined my emotional state. I was a mess. Anakin with his short hair and clone wars armor look, the mention of the mission that went bad where Ahsoka first led a squad, Anakin flashing between himself and Vader when walking away. 😭 "I got us out here chasing ghosts", in the Ghost. They knew what they were doing with that line. 😂 Anakin turning full Vader was scary, but he had to, to try and make sure Ahsoka is pushed to her limit to teach her the lesson he wanted to teach her, and he succeeded. True control of both light and dark, using both, but not becoming evil. A true master. 🥲 From that moment on, Ahsoka accepted who she and Anakin truly is/are, true Jedi, and that's shown by Ahsoka not wearing her normal dark clothing, and also calling the ship a Jedi starship, not just "a" starship. This is without a doubt the best Disney Star Wars episode next to the Obi Wan show's ep6, if we're not counting TCW S7 which is a part of a show that wasn't originally Disney's.

Pretty great right ? :) To me this was perfectly crafted to appeal to fans without _feeling_ like fan-service and again, I _loved_ Rosario Dawson's nuanced performance, her "lightness" when she comes back from the world between worlds is palpable - she doesn't know where the Purgil are going but she trusts herself _and_ the Force again. Understanding Anakin's lesson has restored her faith. (the Kiners also absolutely smashed it IMO. Two cues from this episode, "I can Feel It" when Jacen hears the lightsabers - with that lovely counter-melody of Kanan's theme running through it - and "Hyperspace Jump" from the end, immediately went onto my top Star Wars scores list)

I love that you mentioned this because as I was editing, I realized the music from the part where Ahsoka lands in the flashback reminded me of the music playing in the final scene in Clone Wars. And I truly believe that is one of the best finales I've ever watched, in part BECAUSE OF that music. I just looked up Kiner and I didn't realize that the same person composed both shows. Absolutely brilliant. I'm even more emotional now!!

@@thatnerdtara Agreed, for me Kevin Kiner's music is a really big part of what makes Clone Wars and 'Rebels' great so he was the perfect choice for "Ahsoka" (he sometimes works with his kids but i'm not sure if this was just him or a family effort). (some of it is riffing on John Williams' stuff too of course but it's still no small thing to combine that with original themes to make something new but recognisably Star Wars)

I'm glad you took notice of her change of wardrobe. Previously, her robes were dark and gray to represent her mindset post Vader, now they are white as she has been freed from her doubts and fears. Dave Filoni has always compared Ahsoka's journey to that of Gandalf. In that regard, Ahsoka's journey in these last two episodes can be compared to that of the fall of Gandalf the Gray against the Balrog and his return as Gandalf the White.

I love seeing people new to star wars getting swept up by the whole mythos. Your reactions have been great. Star Wars brings many people many strong opinions, but I have always loved all of it, whether it was what I expected or something totally off the wall. Thanks to my Brother in Law and his kids I have gotten immersed over time in the MCU but I was never a comics kid growing up. But I agree that Star Wars in those big moments just hits different. I don't if it's because it's pure fantasy, with no earth based elements, if it's the power of the story and the characters or even possibly the Force itself but Star Wars is a mythos unlike anything else out there. It changes everyone that experiences it, for good or ill. I have always loved it and I'm happy to see that love being shared.

I believe SW has the power to reach the kid in each of us. The sound of a lightsaber igniting, some of the immortal tunes by John Williams... It really takes a few details. That said, there are good shows and bad shows, and most of us are still adults so we can make comparisons. My personal opinion is that when Dave Filoni is not in the matter, they do it the wrong way. Talking about Obiwan Kenobi show, and more recently The Acolyte. (Andor is a great show but as far as I'm concerned doesn't give me SW vibes). The Ahsoka show is far from perfect, and yet it strikes all the right buttons (except for the people who complains about "too many women"). The same happens for The Mandalorian, and for THOSE episodes of TBoBF. Of course, someone who didn't watch TCW can't have the same feelings we had watching Ani and young Ahsoka in their "memory journey", but well, TCW (and Rebels) is part of Star Wars exactly as the movies, with much more screen time, and this must be taken in account...

When this episode aired many people didn't understand why Anakin went FULL DARK SIDE on Ahsoka. But you can see after she let go of the baggage she's been holding onto since she discovered Anakin's fall, she's lighter and more....jovial(much more the Ahsoka we knew in the early seasons of CW). And bloody hell, Hayden's still got it damn near 20 years after ROTS. Just to let you know, as a HUGE LOTR fan, Dave likened Ahsoka to Gandalf. So the color change in her outfit is not incidental. So close to being caught up

The people with issues are older and stuck in their first experiences with Star Wars. Star Wars has moved on. It does not matter if we like it or not. We got older and we like what we like. I would pay little attention to these online hate dealers of any fandom. These mass entertainment properties are really meant for younger people and for people to just have fun with the stories. Also these modern stories are for a much wider audience than what we were at in the 70s or the late 90s. Good or ill Star Wars has moved on and I am ok with it.

I honestly don’t think it’s an age thing. I’m 55, and I saw Star Wars in the movie theater. Over the years that I’ve been some stuff I liked, and some stuff I did not like. But there’s nothing I outright hated him. For instance, I never got into the clone wars, but I loved rebels. And as far as the Disney stuff, I have loved all the series. Obi-Wan, the Mandalorian, Ashoka, Andor are all great. The acolyte not so much. But I never had a problem with any of the stories, with the stuff I didn’t like. I think the bigger issue than a lot of people have is it doesn’t match up to their fanfiction, and that makes them mad. People want their head cannon to match up with what they’re saying and when that doesn’t happen they lash out.

@@johnmiller7682 By education I studied statics in social patters. In this case it helps. The average KZbin channel or online community of Star Wars fans are older than the target demographic for a typical Disney audience. These companies tend to program for an 18 to 35 audience. Properties like Star Wars and Marvel are targeted more at 13 to 25. There are exceptions but that tends to be a rule of thumb in the industry. Online complaints and that section of the fandom that is very vocal about not liking Star Wars, Marvel, DC or whatever fantasy/Sci Fi tend to be 25 and up. Younger than 25 crowds don't spend the time creating the online presence for much of the negative commentary you hear about various fandoms. Age is not the cause of the online hate but age is a common factor in who we are hearing from online. That is not to say all old people hate it but people who are introduced to an IP at first tend to be upset at anything that falls out of giving them that initial experience which is honestly impossible to recreate. Then fans tend to go on a journey of creating their own ideas of where they think things should go and get upset when new things don't follow their particular head canon. This has resulted in a number of people profiting off of disliking something online at it drives their interest in being negative about these entertainment properties.

This was Anakin Skywalker, redeemed by his son Luke, meeting the student he loved deeply in the World Between Worlds as she lay near death, to impart a lesson... even when you make mistakes and do things that are terrible, don't lose hope, don't give up and keep fighting! Peak Star Wars as far as I'm concerned.

I do think that’s a factor in the new Star Wars, but it’s definitely not the whole problem with today. You can’t have failure after failure with a franchise in decline because it doesn’t feel like “original Star Wars.” There is so much more to it than that.

I want to comment further on your statement about the opinions of Star Wars content from Disney. The KZbin content creators who have self-proclaimed themselves to be Star Wars experts and distribute negative content to influence others need to be ignored. Trust in what you feel. I routinely block negative content creators and hope you do too (and that is quite satisfying by the way). No IP is perfect because people are not perfect, but this will NOT stop me from continuing to watch Disney content and enjoy what I find enjoyable. I am in control of what I like! Thank you for creating entertaining content and don't apologize for being emotional. It gives me an excuse to be emotional with you and that is special. God bless!

Are you referring to me? I love how he went back and forth between Anakin/Vader, but it still hurts to watch it happen, especially with Ahsoka.

@@JestaDid Or the people who complained that Ahsoka looked “too young” in the flashbacks - as if that wasn’t entirely the point! Completely missing the fact that a man in his early 20’s shouldn’t have had to lead a teenager into war and bear the responsibility of keeping her alive and said teenager shouldn’t have had to be there in the first place!

@@thatnerdtara Yeah exactly, she looked exactly how she should, yes, scared child but now a burden on a young adult who is already pressured to be a prophecy chosen one, Anakin training her with both light and dark in the place between places makes sense because he had too show her what he was dealing the whole time he was training her and challenging her too not make the same mistake as him

It's one of the best episodes of Star Wars ever. Oh, ignore the Fandom Menace. They chased Lucas away and trying to chase Disney away. They think only they know how the story should go and can't move on from the original series

As an older fan myself in my 40s, this was the best I've ever seen. Ahsoka has been my favorite character. I still get moved to tears, no matter how many times I watch or watch other people watch. 🥹Rebels does the same.
