In a way, it was kinda sad. Since Palpatine controlled both situations, both clones and droids had to fight one another because of the government's orders. Both of their leaders betrayed both of the groups.
@jeffreymeehan31163 жыл бұрын
What I find fascinating about this episode is that we finally see how everyone outside of "main characters" really thinks about The Clone Wars. Even someone as far up and as informed as Rex doesn't know the whole story. He didn't tell the very shrewd Super Tactical Droid who figured out something funny was going on but didn't figure out everything. If he had he would have realized that there was no need to fight people who were technically on the same side. Palpatine does know the whole story of The Clone Wars. Vader might as well. Kenobi, Yoda, and maybe Ahsoka and Maul know the whole story but beyond that it seems like no one gets what the Clone Wars were really all about. But regular people like Zeb and Ezra? They just know that one day the war between the CIS and Republic...just stopped. In as strange and as vague a fashion as it started.

I feel so bad for Battle Droids. They're actually such nice droids (like the one that apologized to Zeb) they were just programmed to fight an unjust cause.
@kettch7777 ай бұрын
Actually, part of the point of the story is that they were programmed to fight a JUST cause. The Republic was corrupt to the core, which is why Palpatine was able to manipulate it and overthrow it. The problem was he had planned ahead and the CIS leadership was largely infiltrated by his pawns, including Dooku as one of the primary leaders. He deliberately sabotaged the war effort of the CIS and ensured the Republic would wipe them out, getting rid of any potential troublemakers (as well as a large source of opposition to the eventual Empire) in advance of taking over. Then he used the clones to wipe out the Jedi and created the Empire using that "crisis" as an excuse and retired the clones since he didn't need them any more and their loyalty had been to the Republic.

I know I'm late but he's also talking about how the clones were forced to kill their Jedi companions and since they fulfilled their true purpose, they were deemed obselete and were replaced by Stormtroopers. So the clones didn't win either.
@casuallavaring5 жыл бұрын
Ezra was referring to Rex, who was committed to the Republic and removed his inhibitor chip so as to not be effected by Order 66. The Republic was institutionally weakened by the Clone Wars, so he's not wrong... from a certain point of view.
@blunderabluez5 жыл бұрын
Bigglesworthicus yes, but the clones eventually did get weaker over the course of their service to the republic/ empire due to their accelerated aging. THAT led to naturally-born stormtroopers taking over (the empire in this case, since most clones are considered Republic soldiers)

Something I just realized, is that most Seperatist droid's prime directive was, word for word "liberate planets from the tyranny of the Republic", and all it would take to make them question their programming, thus stalling them, would be to have them define the technical term of tyranny and have them compare it to the current situation (take Christophsis or Ryloth for example), where more often than not, the Seperatists were utilizing tyrannical tactics.
@chaotixthefox2 жыл бұрын
Most of the separatist worlds had very legitimate grievances with the Republic, the mere action of going to war to reclaim secessionist worlds is tyrannical for a republic, and the droids would thus easily reconcile the means with the ends.

In a way Ezra is not wrong. Both the clones and droids were weak enough because almost all the clones were too weak to fight off the inhibitor chips and they were lost to the empire after executing almost all Jedi. Almost all the droids except for Kalani’s army were too weak to resist the shutdown order after Order 66 was executed. Both of them were no use for the Empire and the clones were replaced by human Stormtroopers and the battle droids were replaced by imperial droids! None of them won the clone wars because RIGHT when Grievous died, Anakin betrayed the Jedi Order (causing the deaths of Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin, and Mace Windu) and Sidious executed the order.
