There’s a lot of neat Easter eggs and references in this episode: - Yularen’s appearance here is in line with his look in A New Hope (he’s one of the officers in the room with Tarkin and Vader when they are discussing the theft of the Death Star plans) - The insignia on the stormtroopers shoulders is the symbol for the Thrawn’s fleet (the 7th fleet) - The shut down code Thrawn uses on the training droids is “Rukh” the name of Thrawn’s alien bodyguard in the various Thrawn novels - The stuffed lizards/statues of them behind his desk are called “ysalamiri” which were key to Thrawn’s plans in the non Canon stories because they could stop people from using the Force (no confirmation of whether they can do the same in the shows/movies) - The clone trooper helmet in his office is supposedly Gree’s, the commander that fought alongside Ahsoka one episode and was beheaded by Yoda during Order 66 - The painting of the boulders is a Ralph McQuarrie concept art made for the original trilogy - A cup in the office looks just like the Holy Grail used in Indiana Jones

Also, Yularen this episode is kind of a stand in for Captain Pealleon, Thrawn’s right hand/protégé in the original Thrawn books. Their dynamic was meant to invoke Sherlock Holmes (Thrawn) and Doctor Watson’s (Pealleon) dynamic of a competent but “normal” sidekick who acts a sounding board for a genius investigator

I loved this episode. cos it gave us more of a look at the high command of The Empire. and I found it cool how they brought back Admiral Yularen from the Clone Wars, who is now Colonel Yularen in the empire. And if you didnt know he was originally in A New Hope at the table on the Death Star

I guess you didn't recognize Colonel Yularen he is the Admiral who worked with Anakin in Clone Wars then in A New Hope you see Colonel Yularen during the Death Star Briefing and when Luke And Han are pretending that Chewbacca is there prisoner and they pass Yularen and Another ISB officer also The Reason that he goes from Admiral to Colonel isnt for any wrong doing but for the simple reason that the ISB highest rank is Colonel and finally he's on the Death Star when it explodes in A New Hope

Rebels is way better than TCW writing-wise, for the most part. You have specific arcs in TCW that are very good but so many of them are very bad. Rebels is way better as a whole.
