Of course the troopers were terrible shots in this scene. They had to miss 'em, because Vader suggested to Tarkin, they'ld let the Falcon leed the Empire to the real rebel base.

I've watched this like 40 times and I love it . This could easily be added to A New Hope. Would anyone like to see Return of the Jedi fight scene done abit longer and more aggressive, maybe Luke injures Vader so bad that is the reason Vader decides to tell him to pull his mask off. I feel that battle was missing somthing as well. Empire is perfect I wouldn't touch a thing.

Just once I'd like to see a fan edit where the stormtroopers turn around after the "No!!!" and double tap Luke who falls over dead as the others flee up the ramp of the ship to escape.

Stormtroopers are not terrible shots ... in this instance they are under order not to stop them so they fire without aiming. Remember what Ben said at the beginning of the movie. "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise" and also most characters they are shooting at have plot armor :D

What really irks me about so many of these "reaction videos" is all of the splooging over the CG, the fight choreography, facial replacement software, etc., while at the same time missing that the real heart and soul of the entire reimagining is the overdub of "I hate you!" and "You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!" from Episode III....
@lordmortarius5383 жыл бұрын
The last words they'd said to each other until that moment. Gave me chills. I love how the emotion is played out in the action, you can feel Vader's rage and anger, anger at Obi-Wan for not saving him from himself all those years ago. Obi-Wan fights with regret, knowing even now he cannot kill Anakin, and so fights a delaying action so the others can escape. He knows he's not walking away from this fight.
@danielallenbutler17824 жыл бұрын
"They are terrible shots...." Geez, you still don't get it after all these years? Yes, the stormtroopers never seemed to be able to hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle in that entire sequence of scenes because they were TOLD to miss! The whole idea was to LET Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and the droids escape so that the Falcon could be tracked to the rebel base on the Yavin moon. Back in 1977 I had a long discussion with four other fellow fanboys, and we were asking the same thing -- if, as Ben told Luke on Tatooine, Imperial Stormtroopers were "so precise" in their application of blaster fire (the scene where they found the destroyed Jawa sandcrawler), how the hell could those same troopers' shooting be so bad aboard the Death Star? But then we factored in the scene between Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin that takes place after the Falcon has left the Death Star and Luke and Han destroyed the four TIE fighters sent after them: Tarkin to Vader: "Are they away?" Vader: "They have just made the jump into hyperspace." Tarkin: "You're sure the homing beacon is secure aboard their ship?" In other words, all of the blaster-play aboard the Death Star was pure theater, done for the benefit of Luke, Leia, Han, et al, to make them feel as though they were in a dangerous situation, when the idea the whole time was to eventually let them get away. As far as Tarkin and Vader were concerned, a few dead stormtroopers on the Death Star was a more than fair exchange for being able to finally locate the hidden Rebel base. You'll notice that in The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi, the stormtroopers are a lot more effective -- because they're not under orders to deliberately miss....

OMG THEY AREN'T TERRIBLE SHOTS! HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE MOVIE?!? They put a tracking device on the ship and Leia literally says later "They let us go, it's the only explanation for the ease of our escape." They don't put tracking devices on ships they are about to murder the owners of. Obviously.

Pretty sure that the thousands of grunts weren't in on the "master plan", certainly not the ones shooting in defense at Han and Luke. She was referring to the fact they didn't blow them out of the stars when they left the hangar bay. Tractor beam was down, but the turbolasers were fully operational.

@@TheMovieCranks Disney has no love for Star Wars and it shows. I believe they only bought it knowing it to be a gravy train of cash for the company on royalties and residuals alone. Disney is the Edsel of Movies and Television Show making.

I think it was more a combo of both money and tech. They encountered quite a bit of resistance to the $11 million dollar price tag of the movie. The original lightsabers were made from camera parts and a whole pile of different junk they had available.
