@@michaelandreipalon359 Like in fairness - EU, Legends AND New Canon aren't allowed to change anything about the Movies themselves. It's one of the few stipulations George Lucas had both when he owned Star Wars and after he sold it to Disney. Those movies can't be touched. They can be expanded on (Like the "From a Certain Point of View" Novels), but they can't be adapted and things that happened on screen aren't allowed to be changed. Novelisations and Radiodramas, as adaptations, can make small tweaks (and in the case of the Radiodramas, they actually came from first drafts of the screenplays with slight adaptations to allow a listening audience to follow along), but where their content differs from the movies they're considered non-canon. I just fucking LOVE that one line, but I know they'd never actually add it to the movie.

It’s both bizarre and moving, that Lando is the only character to offer condolences after Anakin’s death. Lando has mentioned in EU material that his father and him aren’t close, implying he’s still alive. It shows the despite Vader jeopardizing Lando, his city, and his friends, Lando understands that people with horrible dads likely have at least one good memory that they hold on to, and idealize them as. Lando, being the eldest of the four leads, also understanding he himself made some awful choices and hurt many people, and regardless of how much he’s changed, there will be people who refuse to look past his old life, so he somewhat empathizes with Anakin Skywalker.

This one actually has the opportunity to tie in EU content, and it does with its breif cameo of mara jade. It would have been made at the same time as Shadows, so there could have simply been a small disconnect between this and Shadows, but like you said it coild be seen as a flashback, especially since he mentions his books thag were also mentioned in Shadows and later expanded upon in The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Having listened to Empire radio drama I wonder why Hamill didn't voice act in this one also. Thank you for posting all of these. I have listened them back to back and will probably listen to them multiple times. It is like watching the movies in my head.

Simo Portti this was released in 1997 I believe. Nearly 15 years after the last radio drama.

There's a fair amount of speculation about why Mark Hamill didn't return for ROTJ. Some think it was due to the contract disputes that delayed ROTJ for so long, like what Premium Vibes mentioned. This aired in '96 after all, over a decade since Empire's radio drama. Others think that he just had too many conflicts and chose to resign from this project. Right around this time he was in both Wing Commander and Batman the Animated Series, both highly popular works. But unless Hamill himself says something, which he probably won't since this is 2 decades old now, we may never know.

I almost couldn't tell.

Sadly, I think these were made long after the New Hope and Empire Strike's Back radio dramas, so Mark Hamill and Billy D Williams were either not willing or not able to reprise their roles.

@@Tiresias55 It's interesting that one of the most iconic posters for the Radio Drama was C3PO in front of a mic, cuz Anthony Daniels was the only actor from the original films who was also in all three of the radio dramas.

This was the only radio drama I hadn't heard. I enjoyed it. I will always love the middle trilogy out of all the movies. I really wish Lucas hadn't sold the franchise to Disney, but that is just me. I might mention that I've been a fan of Disney since I was a little girl, but Star Wars? I wish Lucas had never let them buy it.

@nigethejedimaster4 жыл бұрын
I can understand why you say that. In the early days I very much felt the same way. Frank Oz's performance was as important as Mark Hamill's in making Yoda such a convincing character. John Lithgo's performance is jarring by comparison. Time has softened this for me. I have learned to separate the two and in doing so, have developed an appreciation (all be it to a lesser degree) for what this performance brings to this adaptation of the saga.

In the Empire broadcast, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams actually participated in reading their parts. Why did only Anthony remain for the Jedi broadcast? Was pretty disappointed by that, it was jarring to hear different actors from one episode to the next. Still good, and listened to the whole thing though.
