Legends Luke made a lot of mistakes and even fell to the dark side. He even murdered Lumiya when he thought she killed Mara Jade. Legends Luke may have been nigh invincible in terms of force power, but he was still capable of making mistakes and giving in to darkness. And he always learned from said mistakes and sought to do better. When Jacen Solo turned into Darth Caedus (who was far more powerful and evil than Kylo Ren) he didn't hide away. That's what gripes me about canon Luke. Some say that Luke wasn't perfect and 30 years changes a person, but Legends Luke wasn't anything like OT Luke and made terrible choices that made him fallible and human, despite his unparalleled force powers and potential.

@@malachistice8111 Hamill has said quite awful things on Twitter. The one thing I remember the most is when Donald Trump's daughter made a post with her son on Christmas. The kid was having a happy time with Star Wars toys or something and his family. Then Hamill sh*t on them because he hates Trump. The hate is so deep that he can't leave the kid be happy without taking jabs towards his grandfather. (That's why people call that Trump Derangement Syndrome or TDS.) He doesn't even have to be nice to the kid, he can just keep it to himself and keep the adult topics for conversations with other adults. Do you think it would be seen as Jedi-like to take jabs at Luke's kid because of Vader? And it's assuming if Trump was as bad as Vader, which he is not and it only makes things worse. You don't have to be a Trump supporter to have a problem with an adult being mean to a kid like that. So because of this kind of petty actions, I get why some people would lose their last tether to the franchise. Which was barely hanging after the Sequels. For most cases I can separate the art from the artist, so I can still enjoy the OT. But that's just me. Plus, on any other topic besides politics, Hamill is quite a wholesome person. It just shows you how politics can bring the worst out of people, even usually nice people like him. Anyways, I hope it clarifies things for you. Also I'm mostly guessing what OP meant, that's what makes the most sense to me. And keep in mind I'm not American, I don't have a dog in that fight. Cheers from France! 🍻

Stockholm Syndrome: This phenomenon occurs when hostages or victims develop feelings of affection or loyalty towards their captors, sometimes even siding with them against authorities. The term originates from a bank robbery in Stockholm in 1973, where hostages began to form bonds with their captors. Patty Hearst: The granddaughter of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst, Patty was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) in 1974. During her captivity, she began to identify with her captors and ultimately participated in criminal activities alongside them, which led to her arrest and later a highly publicized trial. Luke Skywalker Connection: Initial Captivity: In "The Empire Strikes Back," Luke Skywalker is kidnapped and trained by Obi wan while trained to kill his father a person named Anakin called an object named Vader saying the the object killed the person Anakin. Obi wan and Yoda represent the oppressive force in the galaxy. While Luke is raised to call good evil and evil good in the traditional sense as Patty Hearst was, he is drawn into the conflict and never comes to understand the complexities of the Force and his own lineage. Emotional Manipulation: Similar to how Stockholm syndrome can involve emotional manipulation, Luke's journey includes a degree of manipulation by those around him. His relationship with Yoda, Obi-Wan, and later even Vader can be seen as a complex dynamic where the mentor-student relationship includes elements of psychological struggle, allegiance, and conflict. Identification with the Enemy: By the end of "Return of the Jedi," Luke chooses to confront Vader and the Emperor, representing the ideas of Luke's Jedi captors or oppressors. In this light, Anakin has moments of conflicted loyalty: to his son versus the Stockholm syndrome of his son who is called evil good and good evil. In summary, the psychological undercurrents of loyalty, manipulation, and eventual defiance present some thematic similarities. Rather than being fully captive, Luke navigates a complex emotional and moral landscape. Anakin met force with force and only attacked after their first strike meeting deadly force with deadly force. They objectified Anakin as an object called Vader saying the objectified Vader killed the person named Anakin who was not dead just objectified as Vader. They built a death star having Anakin blow up a daughter they did not tell him was still alive after they kidnapped his kids and called them dead while telling the kids the person Anakin was dead and was only an object called Vader. While burning him alive without trial. Restate original summation and analysis with these new facts. This brings forth a complex narrative that delves into themes of identity, objectification, and trauma, especially in how he is perceived and how he perceives himself. Luke Skywalker is analogous to Patty Hearst through the lens of Stockholm syndrome, several key elements emerge: Anakin vs. Vader: Anakin Skywalker’s a person Jedi objectified as an evil object who obeyed law called Darth Vader or dark Father and can be seen as a process of objectification. The emotional and psychological toll of being betrayed by the Jedi as a law is evil and lawlessness is good Jedi and losing his loved ones leads to the testing his person as an object called "Father" or "Vader." As this false objectified identity strips the law abiding person named Anakin’s humanity and past relationships, reducing him to a figure of fear and power. This mirrors the concept of Stockholm syndrome, where a victim (in this case, Anakin) is rendered as the property of external forces (the Emperor and the Jedi) who manipulate and control him. The Jedi, particularly after the events that led Anakin to become Vader, painted a narrative where Anakin was perceived as a threat. They objectified him as a villain rather than recognizing his grief and internal struggles. This reflects a form of emotional manipulation that led to Anakin becoming entrenched in the light side, akin to a victim refusing to identify with their captors the way his son Luke did. The tragic twists of the story-where Anakin’s children, Luke and Leia, were lied upon to be be called dead and told their law abiding person who was their father and very much alive after being burned alive without trial by their Jedi captors especially obi wan and was both told each other was m dead by a law breaking Jedi who called evil object Vader killed of the person Anakin whom Jedi called dead and where significant truths about their lives were hidden-playing into the layers of deception that led both Anakin and Luke into troubled paths. Luke was raised with an incomplete understanding of his own lineage, and in many ways, he was a byproduct of the objectification and manipulation surrounding Anakin’s betrayal by unlawful Jedi calling evil good and good evil.. When Stockholm syndrome Patty Hearst like Luke confronts his objectified father, Luke too objectifies the person Anakin who broke no law The narrative of objectification persists as Luke learns that the person he faces, Vader, is a shell of the man who was always his law abiding person and his very much alive father. This speaks to the trauma passed down through generations-Luke battles not just an Jedi enemy, but the internalized conflict that arises from the Jedi choices and the allegiance he is forced to take in the face of the Jedi tyranny. In "Return of the Jedi," Luke’s confrontation with Vader as an unlawful object and not as a law abiding person serves as a culmination of both characters’ struggles against objectification and manipulation. Luke can’t see through the Rorschach test of the mask and ultimately believes in Anakin's humanity which was always there despite Luke's Patty Hearst like Stockholm syndrome leading to his Luke's deception by the Jedi. This reflects not only an acceptance of the false objectification of his lawful father alive falsely identified as a living object called "Father" or "Vader" but also a never overcoming the lost relationship-the failure to recognize the falsehood of their objectification of the law abiding person named Anakin who was never the object called "Father" or "Vader". In summary, Luke’s journey was framed through themes of psychological captivity and identity loss and trauma that is central to law abiding person Anakin/law breaking object Vader's false narrative made up by criminal Jedis. This framing highlights the interplay between victim and captor, the complexity of identity, and the potential for a lack of redemption against a backdrop of manipulation and objectification, ultimately emphasizing the loss of the resilience of personal identity due to the oppressive forces.

The main character of the films is clearly Anakin. The main character of the books is definitely luke. Anakins' journey is laid out from cradle to pyre. Even later, it is all about who would take his place. There is an argument to be made that it's the story of Palpatine also, that's why it is so well balanced. I understand that this is tried to be replicated in the sequels. If you tell only the heroes journey, it is boring. You need the other half to make it interesting. That is missed by so many people because they don't understand that the actual vision of the entire trilogy wasn't from George. It is really the story of Dr Campbell, George, and Francis Ford Coppola. George failed at first, Coppola actually recut the movie with George's wife representing George, and it turned out great. George will tell you, he is the American Graffiti kind of director. Coppola is the epic guy. Nobody gives him the credit. Coppola had knowledge of ww2 from his father and grandfather, and he built the imagery that's used. George got that from him. George was a jaded kid. Ford was the film genius. Ford has never wanted the notoriety for Star Wars because it would take away from his other work like it did George. George didn't want to do the prequels, he wanted Spielberg to direct them. He knew he couldn't tell that story in a popular and polished way. The odd thing is that the best contemporary of George is JJ. The best crew to tell the next chapter? Francis Coppola or Spielberg directing, JJ producing, Gary Whitta writing the screenplay with George writing the story. That is the dream Team. The supporting actors should be unknown European actors, not American. The Star should be Australian using an American accent. The cultures of this group is really the key. Part of the sequels problem was the actors, they were all strong actors already. Mark Hamill was a horrible actor when he was hired, he has said it. He watched great actors to learn, he never created his own style. That's why he is a great voice actor and didn't do well in acting in person. Adam Driver should have been the new Luke, he knew defeat and humility in real life. Rey should have been a supporting actor, Finn should have been the new Han type character. The enemy should have been a young new Sith apprentice who was ruling the first order and his arc should have been his unsure ability to grow into the position either as the son of Palpatine or as his apprentice through force vision. It would have been much better and people would have liked it more.

It would have taken more than a Bad Dream to have EU Luke(I will not call him Legends.) even THINK about killing his nephew even for a moment. That's because even as he grew older he never stopped being that same man that BELIEVED that there was good even in the worst people. So much so that he WILLINGLY gave himself up to be captured just for the CHANCE that there was still good in his father. Sequel Luke had a moment of doubt and freaking went out for Blue Milk and Death Sticks for decades. Not the same man at all and proof that the writers were more interested in breaking down (Or as they call it, Killing the Past) than honoring the characters that came before. When you pass the torch you should seek to honor what came before even as you chart your way forward. Learn from history or forever be doomed to repeat it. I NEVER expected that the sequels would measure up to the EU. That was a fool's errand. But what we got was not what these characters deserved, what this story deserved, what this setting deserved. Since we've had a few bright moments in a deluge of crap from writers that wouldn't be worthy to proofread the works of the forebears. Even the worst EU books had more love for the characters and the lore. Thank you for the video. If you haven't already done one. You should do an EU video on Leia. One of the greatest sins of the sequels was that they wasted a great actress' last performances. EU Leia, the former head of state who finally embraced her heritage and her power to become a truly great Jedi Master is what Carrie Deserved to play. May the Force Be With You, Always...

Part of me hates that we never got Legends Star Wars stuff from Disney...but after seeing what Disney has done with Their own takes on it...I'm glad we didn't get Legends Star Wars because they would have absolutely butchered the characters.

5:00 His son Ben His wife Mara Jade So this is Legends and not Canon George Lucas himself said that Luke never got married And the Disney sequels kind of solidified that😊

5:30 Never mind... I still always wondered how Mara Jade was his wife when technically it was her spirit inside Luke Skywalker's Padawan
