Maul's monologue always gives me goosebumps with how much truth he said. The fight between Ahsoka and Maul looks so good be it is done using motion capture. Ray Park, who played Maul in The phantom Menace reprised his role to do motion capture. The only thing that kept Ahsoka from joining Maul was her emotional attachment to Anakin. That's one of the things that Jedi order couldn't take away.

The fact that Maul, who has been through so much shit (remember how Savage found him on that junk planet) would rather die, than witness what is about to come. It truly puts into perspective how horrifying Order 66 is. Just imagine how painful it would be for force-sensitive individuals to sense so much death and betrayal at once.

Maul wasn't really trying to turn her to the dark side, he was just that desparate for help as he was terrified of Palpatine and wanted him gone. Maul was no longer a Sith, just out for himself really. Ahsoka would have joined him, had he not stated his intentions of killing Anakin. Also Ray Park (the original actor) did motion capture for Maul during this fight, which is why it looks so good.

It wasn't even his (past) intention of killing Anakin that turned Ahsoka away from joining forces with Maul (they would definitely have found another way to save Anakin/kill Sidious), it was the idea that Anakin could become a sith that Ahsoka couldn't even allow herself to entertain.

The amount of tension that is in these episodes is amazing. You, well most of us, know exactly what happens but it's still so damn tense. The idea of taking Ahsoka and Maul, who have no role in the films, and emphasizing that lack of power is sooooo genius. They, just like in the larger story, have no power over what happens next. The conversation between Maul & Ahsoka is my favorite "join me" scene in all of Star Wars, not just because it features my two favorite characters in the franchise, who are very much alike, being failed apprentices who were cast out of their respective orders. What makes it great is that in this "join me", not only is the villain being 100% honest, but he isn't asking her to join the dark side, he just genuinely wants her help saving the galaxy, albeit by a very twisted means. If Maul hadn't been set on killing Anakin, Ahsoka may have helped him, and just think how different the galaxy would be.

The Phantom Apprentice Going into this episode I originally thought the title to Ahsoka or Maul. However, after watching it, I realized that the Phantom Apprentice so obviously referred to Anakin as he was always destined to be apprenticed to the figure from the shadows. Also, Maul was amazing in this episode; he is the best character to have been brought back from his supposed death in all of Star Wars. What makes Darth Maul so great is as a villain he is doing the wrong thing for all the right reasons. If you didn't know Maul is somewhat based on Sisyphus from Greek mythology. I also have to mention the performance Sam Witwer gave was OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD AMAZING! Maul’s Monologue was amazing. It was the best performance Sam Witwer has ever done for Maul. You can feel the emotions through his voice; especially the fear in his voice when he mentioned Darth Sidious. Another great thing about the episode is the mo-cap fight made for a duel which was a spectacle to see and which is the epitome of what I want all Star Wars duels to embody, the perfect balance between action, emotion, tension, and dialogue. Finally, it is great to see that this Clone Wars arc is so consequential to the overall storyline from the movies. The writers did a very good job tying it in with “Revenge of the Sith.” The moment where Ahsoka almost joined Maul also was so pivotal. Imagine how different the timeline would be if she had joined him to try and defeat Sidious. This is Star Wars at its BEST!

You also gotta remember who trained maul. And this is the prime of his strength in his life. He is stronger here than when he fought qui Gon and obi

@@Disss135 Yeah, if Anakin started tapping to the dark side, he would have lost against Dooku or Maul. There is a good reason why the sith always try to make their opponent angry when fighting jedi because they know that someone who isn't fully on one of the two sides gets weaker. Mauls strenght is overrated. He lost to Ahsoka who hasn't even finished a full jedi training. He got his legs chopped off by a padawan. But he survived the first fight against Obi-Wan. For the jedi, it was a surprise that he was alive, but do you really think Palpatine didn't know about this? The connection between a master and an apprentice is always strong and I'm sure Sidious could sense that Maul was still alive after the battle of Naboo. But he didn't try to bring him back like he did with Vader at the end of episode 3, he made Dooku join his team because he knew that this sith lord would be much stronger. Someone who beats Dooku, definitely wins against Maul. Obi-Wan was an even opponent for Maul but he never had a chance against Dooku.
