The art style in that show initially bothered me along with the amount of frames per second, but it grows on you. If I recall correctly, I think this show was originally targeted at a young elementary-school-aged audience and that's why the slow framerate. 😅

That show's feamerate increased significantly in later seasons when it got more of a budget so hopefully Resistance will too, even though tbh I'm not the biggest fan of the show as a whole

I read somewhere that the design of he Fireball was actually inspired by the F4U Corsair fighter from WW2. It certainly does seem to have the bent wing design and the big honking engine up front.

Excellent video. I know you don't think much of the sequel era, so I'm glad that you treat it with the same professional tone as you do the rest of your ship videos. Not everyone does that anymore. Too many KZbinrs I once respected have gone down the path of putting clickbaiting sequel hate in all of their unrelated videos, so it's very refreshing to see when someone can put aside their personal opinions to maintain the quality and integrity of their content.

@@excessmaterial yeah. Honestly, if the entire sequel trilogy had been written and directed by people like Dave Filoni and John Favreau, we could have gotten something worthwhile. As it was, though, Resistance could only do so much to help the sequel trilogy, since the movies themselves just... didn't give the show a lot to work with. The prequel trilogy had A LOT of stuff to work with, between a large and active Jedi Order, a galaxy-wide conflict made up of numerous smaller conflicts, a clone army that was born and bred to serve a Republic which basically enslaved them, the politics of a Senate mired in corruption and slowly turning to fascism, and numerous characters to work with. Thus, The Clone Wars had PLENTY of awesome stuff. And the era between Episodes 3 and 4 was fleshed out quite well by Star Wars Rebels, which was a worthy sequel to The Clone Wars - even if the tone was much more child-friendly than its predecessor's was. But Resistance... it really just didn't have much to work with, considering the fact that the sequel trilogy consisted of 2 nostalgia-baited cash grabs, and one giant middle finger to the fans and the flow of the trilogy thrown smack dab in the middle.

It gets tiring. I love Star Wars, but I get really tired of talking about it because practically any discussion of the sequels and/or TCW almost inevitably devolves into “Ahsoka good, Rey bad” or some tired shit like that. I just feel like that discussion has been had, and it’s time to let it go.

@@themetalstickman I mean people shit on the prequels for like an entire decade before the sequels came out and the sequels are so demonstrably worse then the prequels that I don't see anyone stopping making fun of them anytime soon, although I will agree with you that I am incredibly bored with the Ahsoka versus Rey argument especially since I don't think either of them are good although I do agree that ahsoka is better than Rey but that's not very impressive since Rey seems closer to a plot device than an actual character

SW Resistance might have had its ups and downs for a series, but I think many people can agree that the ships were really cool and added a lot of flavor to the Star Wars Universe. Shame that Rise of Skywalker didn't give these ships the appearances that they deserved (even though they were supposedly somewhere in that Citizen fleet).

In the first episode of The Mandalorian to feature any kind of space battle, the Razor Crest is attacked by a bounty hunter piloting a fighter that bares more than a striking resemblance to the Fireball. I always wondered what its make and model was. Great video.

The visual profile reminds me a lot of the Republic's Liberator class starfighter from Star Wars: The Old Republic. Which makes sense as a lot of the design aesthetic in that game is backward designed to inspire later tech.

That last line about the First Order having a short time as the dominant faction got me thinking about how time works in Star Wars. If the Star Wars galaxy doesn't allow for Einstein's theory of relativity, then the most accessable way to 'skip past' the unpleasant periods of the galaxy would be to freeze yourself in carbonite and just wait out these regimes to eventually fall. The Empire, The First Order, and the New Republic are all pretty good examples of how unpopular large galactic factions are and how they become targets for the next regime. It wouldn't be easy but with enough resources someone could live in the peace times and sleep through all the big wars. Unless it's the Yuuzhan Vong, then you're just fucked.

Simply because of the size of a galaxy, someone with the resources could basically ignore the rest of the galaxy by leaving the hyperlanes and flying off to an uncharted system (which if you follow the hyperlanes logic is about 99% of the galaxy). Just because there is a war doesn't mean it has to be were you are.

Basically have them so you could pull a module out to race, throw it in for whatever mission, rather than a complicated and lengthy install or remove...

@@kombatace7971 "acts more like a fighter" simply means "it flies around and shoots stuff". How realistic it behaves depends on the specific series, it gets very newtonian on Gundam Thunderbolt but it's usually a bit more fantasy-like in older series.

I've seen the deck layout for the yt-1300 freighter. It was cool seeing the deck layout. Another of my favorite ships is decimator. I really would like to see the deck layout of the decimator. I've seen the deck layout of fete's slave 1 it was interesting but still not one of the top twenty star wars ships.

As someone who was a die hard LAAT and Pelican fan and never thought anything would ever top those two as the beat dropships, I was surprised to almost immediately put the Valkyrie as my number 1.

It focuses more on the different kinds of pilots in Star Wars and a breath of fresh air for this series. The main character isn't force sensitive. You get to see how pilots are trained for battle in season 2 and season one you get to see some great stylized races. Its a short western anime so its only about 40 episodes you can fly though it no pun intended.

I've watched the show and unless there's more background in comic's I haven't see.. Jarek had his own racer so do we really know where he got the fire ball from? going by the show for all we know it was there abandoned in the hanger when he moved in and patched it up for something to do between jobs.

It was his pet project, and he had originally thought to give it to Tam, but between his own fears of her just running off with it colliding with her perfectionism in mechanical work, they ended up just working on it until Kaz showed up and needed a racer.

I feel like it was a huge thematic mistake to give this fighter a hyperdrive. It was designed for racing, and that should've been a factor in its use by the Rebellion (or Alliance or whatever the ST calls 'the good guys'). It would've been far more interesting if this craft that was faster and more manoeuvrable than just about any other Republic ship relied on a secondary vessel to transport it between systems - and thematically in keeping with its role as a racing vehicle (F1/NASCAR drivers don't drive across country to get to the race). They could've even used this to add tension/delays to its use in the war, with access to a Gozanti-class or Quasar Fire-class imperative to the Fireball making it into battle. With a hyperdrive? It's just a god-tier ship that can do anything you want it to. It has zero actual flaws in battle and you may as well mass-produce it to replace an X-wing.
