In the fourth and final installment of "Choose Your Side," writers and developers discuss the ins and outs of the Smuggler and Sith Warrior classes, highlighting some of the skills and abilities that separate these classes from the rest. This time around, Senior Writer Hall Hood and Senior Game Designer William Wallace stand behind the Smuggler, while Writer Ian Ryan and PvP Designer Ben Pielstick speak for the Sith Warrior.

I love Smugglers. Some of the game's best dialogue, my favorite companion character, and they really capture the feeling of being Han Solo. But if we're going by lore here and throw game balance out the window, Warrior flicks their wrist, breaks the Smuggler's neck. Fight's over.

+AchtungFreud I don't know. Sith were considerably weaker back then then they are in modern Star Wars times. And many of these gunman were heavily armed with technology specifically meant to counter the force.

+KingLink95 Considerable? Perhaps the average was a bit weaker but sith warrior and sith inquisitor are not average. Exar Kun, Naga Sadow, Marka Ragnos, Karness Muur, Revan, and Vitiate etc are all major powerhouses and these characters will beat most characters from the movie era. The average can still choke the life out of non force sensitives. So if we go by lore then the smuggler will be dead before he knows what happened.

Mr33500 I am talking about the average Sith soldier. They are disposable. They are not trained as well. Exar Kun, Mark Ragnos, Vitiate, etc. were all highly trained and were able to climb to the top of the ladder. And yes, many non-force sensitives-especially back then were heavily equipped to specifically counter the force. Imperial officers that fight Jedi admit that they have armor like that and Mandalorians are able to fight Jedi even up to the modern SW times-why wouldn't smugglers that routinely fight force users (in the game) not carry such enhancements.

***** He was not talking about average soldiers though. He was talking about the emperor's wrath. Some were able to take down jedi but the jedi take a more non violent path in combat and in life. They may have armour to compensate but the force is above that. Most Mandalorians lose against jedi and those that don't often have the jedi outgunned. Non force users don't stand much chance against force users but with dirty tactics their chances increase. Which is actually one of the ways mandalorians defeated jedi. The sith in contrast to the jedi go in for the kill, so it would be harder to fight them than a jedi. Also smugglers, troopers, hunters and agents makes sense in the early/mid game(except against jedi/sith but i wager that's becuase of gameplay mechanics, it would not be fun to set a c4 or something and explode it from afar) but in the end game they do not. How can they stand against the dread masters?

The game really nailed the feel of each class, even the mirror classes feel worth playing because the stories are amazing for the most part. Game made a lot of mistakes early on i can see that, but it's fun af now, just wish they would have chose a better engine.

Sith Warrior is the perfect example of how to give a Warrior class the abilities of other 'magic-like' classes. God, I love this game.

Now that Enraged Defense was buffed for Juggernauts, I'd say the Juggernaut has a better chance of winning. It's true that a Scrapper Scoundrel can open with some tremendous burst and put out very high damage afterwards for a while but the fact that Juggers can use Enraged Defense while stunned will not only negate the opening burst, but also heal him back to full HP. In a Jugger vs Scoundrel duel at roughly equal skill and gear, I'd say the Juggernaut's better defensive capabalities will allow him to outlast the Smuggler. However, before the buff to Enraged Defense, the Smuggler would have won the duel, hands down.

KSSXerxes Gaming Then how come in Attack of The Clones Jango Fett was able to kill a jedi in the arena with just a pair of blasters. Just stun a force user for a sec and shoot them in the face, easy. No one is blaster proof. Even with a lightsaber.

I would say it depends on the terrain. I know the warrior has charge, but if tyhe smugger is at the top of say, the huttball map and used the ability that pushes people away from his defensive screen (as a gunslinger that is), theperson can land pretty far away and then you just blast the bejebus out of them, but if the terrain is flat, the warrior wins every time.

@MrHogslice Yeah, group pvp, the team with a smuggler/imperial agent would have the upper hand, flashbang kinda ensures that, stuns everyone in its radius, then he just has to do the bomb drop and that's pretty much an aoe stun with a high damage aoe hit right after, that can really affect the turn out of a fight.

Hmmm the would be close but if smuggler can keep on his toes and keep the warrior stunned then he can get the warrior. However, the warrior can easily over power the smuggler and make the player panic. However the shotgun, dirty kick, vital shot, along with his sucker punch and flash bang. And smuggler also can heal however warrior has no way to heal. It will be close...

@POCKETGUN It's actually a really awesome game, but it's not for everyone since the gameplay is made of mostly story. If you really want to see if it's crap, wait until the trial for the game is released then play that, but you don't really have to if you don't want to of course.

@xavierpaquin Yes, Vader died, but not by Han. This video talks about a direct confrontation between a smuggler and a warrior. Which is simplified to Vader Vs Han Solo. When the two met, Han easily lost the battle, badly. In these type of games, they try to balance classes out. But in reality, if the greatest force-user fought the greatest smuggler, the smuggler would have no chance. Han tried his best to kill Vader, but failed. And Vader didn't even pretend to try and kill Han.

When will there be a TRIAL to try this out? Not everyone played beta or have a frien to borrow account for one day, and lots player dont buy a game blindly. what a demo is for a singleplayer is a 7 day limited trial for MMORPGs. I hope the no Trial yet is because they wait for the starting rush/serverload to decrease, and not that they not confident in the game yet and want ppl to buy it and then they dont care if they play or not. After a while, pls make a Trial so others interested can try it.

I know to all that one class will best the other but if I have to choose one I would think that the Sith Warrior would win, because the Sith Warrior are made to be the war tank role in combat meaning using brutal tactics and can take any hit from anyone and anything. True the smuggler can hide and use whats left of what he has and try to win, but didn't you see how that ship came and shot down the warrior? The warrior survived that and thus can take any hits whatsoever and will win the fight.
