I think the lighsaber fighting in this one is good (especially with Malgus)and I felt the force of the lightsaber strikes and blocks with this one. I also think that a certain amount of weightlessness can make sense because they can use the force while fighting to maneuver around more freely, simmilar to how Yoda did it. I think the reason why we might not see that as much in live action is because it is harder to do than in animation, with real world physics hindering you and all that stuff.

Something I've always really liked about this cinematic is that it slips in a reference to Malgus's tunnel vision. There are tiny hints in one of the other cinematics. But it's never mentioned in any cinematic or the game. But it is expressly mentioned in some books that Malgus has tunnel vision for whoever he is fighting. If you pay close attention during his duel with Sa'har, specifically at the moment she disarms him of her master's lightsaber. The trajectory of the hilt passes behind Sa'har's head and into Malgus's restricted cone of vision. Then he looks down at his now empty hand. It's hard to tell from just the cinematic but at least one of Malgus's hands is cybernetic. Even if his right hand isn't cybernetic, we know for a fact from the same comics and novels that canonized his tunnel vision that when Satele Shan threw Malgus through a mountain he had every body in his body broken and multiple organs liquified. It is far from a stretch to imagine Malgus having nerve damage. Especially if the bones in his hands were broken. If his right hand is indeed still flesh then it likely has little to no feeling on top of being in a glove. So it's reasonable to assume that with no feeling and intense tunnel vision Malgus didn't notice he was disarmed of Sa'har's master's lightsaber until he saw the hilt fly past his cone of vision.

Somebody in the comments correct me if I'm wrong because I have not played in VERY long time, but to my awareness, Malgus is not technically Sith any longer at least by definition of the Sith Empire. If i'm remembering correctly, after you defeat Malgus, he goes rogue from the Empire. Malgus has never shared the same black and white views of his fellow Sith regarding the force. An important thing he says in this cinematic to Sahar is how the Sith and Jedi are essentially two sides of the same coin. Malgus takes the final phrase of the Sith Code, "Through victory, my chains are broken", very much to heart. That's what we wants: complete domination where he is not held to the "chains" of any one dogma or the other. This would also fall in-line with his final statement to Sahar: "When you are ready, break free." Again, I'm just spitballing my thoughts here because I've not played in a good while lol. I don't know what the current state of the SWTOR story is right now, so I'm basing this observation on what amount I played years ago.

Real life will always be limited in ways that animation is not.

I feel like in animation especially you can do more with the fight scenes because you have not the obstacle of real world physics. That's also why I kind of want to see more stuff animated in Star Wars.

this is the strangest thing to be upset over, no shit animation is easier than real life fight choreography.

I’ve always preferred the thicker sabers or thicker look of the sabers from these short films. Rebels I’m use to now but still kills me with how skinny they are lol
@KaliBoyinPDX3 жыл бұрын
This short film was better than the Disney sequels. Why can't they make movies with so much emotion and heart like this?
@raz6443 жыл бұрын
The animation was a much slower pace than previous cinematics. Movement seemed to have much more inertia giving it more weight. It definitely a huge change.

i think Malgus found some of Kreia's teachings and is looking to finish what she couldn't.
Yeah Eric apparently blur didn’t make this one but ILM hence the difference in movement

As expected, a great SW Fan reaction. I'm curious to see how much influence these video games will have on the (inevitable) Live Action movie, trilogy, or Streaming series of The Old Republic. Again, what is Tales Of The Jedi going to be about? Wonder which is going to see its release first: STAR WARS: The Old Republic or STAR WARS: Eclipse? I hope they both, in some minor, peripheral ways, acknowledge each respective era (Old and High Republics), within their storytelling. BTW: I got my Blind Wave Mando 4 shirt! It fits perfectly, and it looks SO COOL. Thank you, and congratulations on your continued expansion as a channel and multimedia entity.

I think Eclipse is going to focus more in Naboo during High Republic and Palpatine’s creation, since his family is of aristocratic origin from Naboo
@anthonyyoutubefan75673 жыл бұрын
@@danymann95 So, would the video game be a companion-piece to the (supposed) Live Action miniseries, The Acolyte, since that story takes place during the last days of The High Republic, and coincides with the birth of Sheev Palpatine? My impression was that the video game was possibly going to bounce around from the different periods of the epoch of The High Republic, from the time of The Nihil, back to the time of Phase Two's storytelling (150 years before The Great Hyperspace Disaster), and forward right to the last few hours before THR ended.

Oh yeah, I still play SWTOR. Main as an Imperial Agent. Which kinda sucks because they stopped writing the new stuff with anyone but Sith and Jedi in mind ages ago. Will be checking this new expansion out tonight.

The reason why it doesn't look and feel like any of the previous cinematics is largely due to a different animation company other than Blur worked on this one. This one was created by ILM which did the original special effects for the original trilogy.

Malgus is one my if not favorite "Sith" Lord his story is so fleshed out in a little bit of time in these short cinematic trailers I love them Bioware has such a great understanding of how Star Wars is supposed to look and feel I really wish they were responsible for all star war games on console and PC KOTOR is my all time favorite star wars game ever and they need to do a CG animated movie set in the Old republic one can dream!

I believe SWTOR outsourced the cinematic to ILM instead of blur this time round. And I have to agree ILM's style for this cinematic does feel floaty with its inertia. Of course its still a brilliant cinematic and looks great, I just personally hope they go back to BLUR in the future, Their lighting and animation is just unmatched.
