I've played TCGs since 1999 and must say this is one of the best deck tech videos I have watched not just for SWU, but for any TCG I have ever played. The way you discuss both game play and deck design choices is fantastic.

This was great! I think the video skipped over how Chirrut plays into all of this. Why is he the best leader for this strategy?
@Electabuzzgl9 ай бұрын
Healing and giving +0/+X to Chirrut keeps him alive even after he's taken all of his hp. I'm not 100% sure how his action comes in exactly. Hopefully they reply to you.
@SWU_KTOD9 ай бұрын
He comes out early (the five resource turn is really important in the game) and benefits greatly from the upgrades in the deck.

One request for future breakdowns - could you add video chapters for each topic? It helps to be able to come back and reference something. I guess 2 requests. If things are more segmented a dedicated section talking about matchups rather than it being mixed in as part of the individual cards would be helpful.
@SWU_KTOD9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! We will definitely take those requests into consideration.

@@JustinDesai-ze1kj This deck is slapping. Any tips for heavy control. Obviously I need to get more games in but Iden (was playing against Red) was a pain.
@JustinDesai-ze1kj9 ай бұрын
@@DreWooo Iden is unfortunately the knightmare matchup. You can try and spam a few more guys (2 drop and r2 on turn 3 is solid) multiple govenors can lock them out. But it's deff uphill. You get a little better post board, but it's still quite rough.
@leviponce77309 ай бұрын
I feel like you want protector esp if you go double blue since it can basiclly lock out the ground arena with your leader and waylay and no good to me dead doesnt stop your value from it.

Right now, just buffing a single unit as a plan A is way too easy to deal with early in the current meta. Power of the dark side mainly is a nightmare for that kind of strategy. You have force choke too (red is less meta but played). And Boba can tempo for 2 turns with no good to me dead. You have takedown too but it's slower. It seems really hard to play that kind of decks in the current Boba/Iden meta.
@SWU_KTOD9 ай бұрын
You definitely have to play around certain things depending on the matchup. The low drops in this deck are chosen to sort of either replace themselves in the form of droids so the blowout isn't that bad, or use regional governor to block counters. You certainly shouldn't walk into blowouts.

Great deck! I am going to play it locally! Quick questions: how could you improve the deck if budget wasn’t the issue and how would Luke do vs Churrit

does buffing the low cost units give you a feeling of over investing when you encounter traitorous intent or waylay for example?
@SWU_KTOD9 ай бұрын
You definitely want to avoid playing around what your opponent can be doing. This deck is built with certain fail-safes
@SawseTV9 ай бұрын
I am not sure I agree with Double Blue, especially given your post board plans. You can't side out your upgrades against Sabine or Boba, whether they have hate or not. If you do, your left with sub par units that just do not compete with theirs. If you side out against Control, say Iden Green, your complete lack of pressure will almost certainly make your a underdog regardless of your sideboard options. You just aren't going to outvalue them in the time you are presenting as pressure. So, you have a board that does virtually nothing to Sabine, and very little to Boba, with a suspect plan against control matchups that probably still do not favor you. Slotting in virtually any other color then blue gives you far more flexibility in terms of the matchups you are likely to face.

Thanks for the thorough feedback, we'll give that some consideration as we continue to test the matchups

I think protector is missing from this list honestly and it has a big vulnerability to space. I would trade Pathfinder for the Arc in this case. And any way to get protector would make those big booty droids very annoying to deal with, protector can also go on a space unit and a 3/4 sentinel in space deals with a lot of early space aggression. The cards you have to watch out for with your early game are waylay, power of the dark side and traitorous.
@SWU_KTOD10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your insight. Definitely worth a try!
@JustinDesai-ze1kj10 ай бұрын
Protector was a tough cut. I wanted to balance the upgrades that really push power. Try out your version and let me know how they go!
@TheSpaceNinjaPirate9 ай бұрын
Great decktech Justin. Really interesting to see your thought process. Given Chirrut's ability to buff defence for your fat bottom weenies, how often would you use it to discourage attacks? Or are you just aiming to take initiative instead?
@SWU_KTOD9 ай бұрын
It doesn't get used a lot. Since the buff goes away at the end of the turn units die anyway, but I can be good to bait an attack and then drop an upgrade to keep them alive
@Marcus-mb5sc9 ай бұрын
This deck, and the tech, assumes the opponent is playing mid range or aggro against you. Sabine has been top for awhile (TTS) but the emergence of bobba, Iden, and control Vader mean this deck is dead in the water.
