Fun fact: three different actors played Darth Vader in the original trilogy: obviously James Earl Jones voiced him, but bodybuilder David Prowse played Vader in the suit, and a third man, Sebastien Shaw, played him when he was unmasked

Four, if you count stunt coordinator Bob Anderson who did all of Vader's fight scenes in Empire and Jedi.

@@LeChaunce possibly five if you include the Special Editions. I recall reading that James Earl Jones was NOT used for a new line added to The Empire Strikes Back, so they used a voice actor who had played Vader in some of the LucasArts video games. In the original theatrical version, after Luke winds up on the weather vane under the city, Vader simply says "Bring my shuttle." In the special edition, the line is replaced with "Alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival." If you listen closely you can tell it isn't Jones. In later DVD/BluRay releases, Jones is again used to provide new lines for the extended scene with the holographic Emperor.

Welcome back!!!! And you're back with one of my all-time favorite "Star Wars" movies! 😊 I was eight years old when this movie originally came out in 1983. And to an eight year old girl, Jabba was pretty darn scary to me. LOL! Now he's just really ugly. LOL! I know! The Ewoks are so cute! Especially Wicket, the one that befriends Leia. Luke telling Leia that they're brother and sister has always been one of my favorite scenes of this movie. Followed by Luke and Vader's lightsaber duel on the Death Star. This is the 1993 "special edition" here. And the musical number in Jabba's palace, and the Ewok celebration were redone with new music. I highly recommend watching the original versions of both of those here on KZbin. Especially the original Ewok celebration scene. The original scene shows the original actor, Sebastian Shaw, as Anakin. In this newer version he is replaced with Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin in the prequels. Up next is the start of the prequel trilogy with "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace". Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

Whaaaa? They changed the score too? Aww, they should have preserved the original soundtrack. I will look for some more of the original stuff so I can have reference to the original work. Also yes, Jabba would be terrifying to see as a kid, I'd be scared that it'd jump out the screen and try to eat me.

1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue. 2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it in Luke. Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. Willow is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share.😎 7. Awesome job editing the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. A little corn. Hans' reaction to Leia telling him Luke is her brother. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy. 10. Ford wanted Han to die in this episode. 11. This is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After this he sold it to Disney and everything changed. Sadly

This is the remastered version. The original has the same actor as you saw in Darth’s armor as Anakin’s ghost in the ending with Ben and Yoda. Check it out here in KZbin. I think his smile is better because he’s grinning confidently and looking straight at Luke. If he had been reawakened to the light side of the Force at that point, he should be in his older self, not his younger self. Also, the Jabba’s palace scene had different music and different visuals for the dancers. Very different.

14:20 It's a common mistake, people of your generation make, because you don't know any different, but there are no "graphics" in these special effects. In fact, the only computers used in these special effects, just told an automated camera dolly where to start and stop, and how fast to move. These were all done with hand built sets, props, models, and miniatures, and clever camera techniques. CGI effects didn't enter the game, for about another decade. And every kid that ever watched this scene, "wanted one".

Glad to see you back! I'd definitely recommend watching the prequels to see how the journey of the original trilogy starts. The disney sequels are.. optional and not necessary at all. The Clone wars animated series is overall a great watch but does have a decent amount of filler episodes and prob not the best for reactions. The final season is a masterpiece though.

My least favorite in the first SW trilogy, because of revolting gooey Jabba, yet another Death Star (not the last!), the kiddy bunch of Muppets (as Randall would say 😁) and the cackling emperor. Still better than anything perpetrated by Disney in the franchise (with the possible exception of Rogue One, useless but watchable).

"...someone made a little bit of an oopsie in the design..." kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5jGg6p9ebCootk "...who wants to construct all that..." Anyone who wants to build a planet-destroying station? "...where do they find these willing people..." This is an entire galaxy. There's a planet in the SW universe with a population of about three _trillion_ people, and that's _one_ planet. It might be the most _populated_ planet, but... well, figure there's probably several hundred to several _thousand_ systems with billion plus populations... it's not hard to find people who are desperate and willing to do a job. _Also_ consider that this is a lot like having a crazy leader of an army (actually, it is _literally_ that). Your chances of ever _meeting_ the crazy train and getting killed are _tiny,_ but the army offers job security, authority, travel... for a _lot_ of people it's a good deal. Plus, when under an authoritarian regime, people will _convince themselves_ that the horrible people in charge are 'good' in order to protect themselves. Current best example of this on Earth: North Korea. "...tell her, I don't see any better other opportunities..." 'Hey! I'm your brother and Darth Vader is our father. Oh, hey the rest of the Rebellion top command listening in, hope none of this is a problem.' ... Um. I would call this _very_ much _not the right time!_ Just the reveal that Darth Vader is your father is... bad. Really, _really_ bad given the number of people that man's killed and driven _to_ the Rebellion. It's _not_ exactly something you want to reveal. Remember how badly _he_ took it when he found out last movie. It's basically the equivalent of being a resistance fighter in Nazi Germany and finding out that your father is Hitler. This is _not_ a thing you want spreading around! _Someone_ from your own side _will_ take a shot at you. Heck, it's probably not even safe to reveal it _after_ the bad guy is dead, because _someone_ will decide that killing you is an acceptable way to 'get back at' said bad guy. "...how do you know how to fly that thing..." No idea. But perhaps it's something like a motorcycle on Earth. I've _never_ driven one or ridden on one, but I've _seen_ it done on TV _so much_ that I think at least the _basics_ I could get pretty easily. Turn the key, pull the brake, rev with the handle, try not to spin out the back tire... and go! ... Would _I_ fail? Sure. But I'm not someone who has spent years running and gunning against the Empire and others. Plus why didn't we ask how they knew how to fly the shuttle? If anything, different _aircraft_ controls are _much_ more different than most 'ground' type vehicles. And take into account that, a moment later, Luke had to tell her which switch was the jamming one, possibly because _he_ could read it while _she_ was chasing them. Still, you're right. Characters who can just _do stuff_ that requires skill and practice with _no_ explanation of _how_ they know how to _do_ that is a huge, huge problem. Fortunately, in _this_ movie, it's really just this once. "...not that I want the villain to win, but ya know..." Yes, plot armor is a thing. Then again, people _even in real wars_ make stupid mistakes... all the time... and sometimes it gets them killed. _Other_ times it fits in with one of the Rules of Combat They Never Taught You (#7: If it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid.) "...God, it's so cute..." Well, Lucas owned the merchandising rights to Star Wars... he _had_ to put in things to get _all_ the kiddies to buy stuff! "...I need more of these..." Wish... _granted._ "...I'm crying, it's so adorable..." Watch the fourth generation of My Little Pony (Friendship is Magic, you'll know you've got the right one if one of the first characters you meet in the first episode is called Twilight Sparkle). Cute. Overload. And, honestly, half decent stories and voice acting. They even have a movie (which occurs between seasons 7 & 8). "...didn't they have a little... thingy thing..." A bit, yeah. It's traditional, a 'Greek tragedy'. Apparently you find it a lot in Spanish/Mexican/Colombian soap operas (telenovela), remember from Encanto? "...somebody didn't do their homework..." "It was I who allowed the Alliance to know the location of the shield generator" - Emperor Palpatine. He set the whole thing up as a trap. He leaked misinformation to make it _look like_ the thing wasn't operational _deliberately_ to draw them in. "...that's a lotta work to be destroyed..." It's actually an argument for _not_ destroying the Death Star, too. Those things would be _hideously_ expensive, and blowing them up could crimple economies, doing more damage _that_ way than the Death Star would in itself. ... Then again... maybe not. "...what are they gonna do..." Continue to fight the many hundreds of millions of Imperial troops? I don't think an entire army, with those numbers, is just going to _stop_ being in control because two old dudes died, _especially_ if they were the seat of power. _Someone_ will come along and just _take_ power after that, and they'll _probably_ be in the military since they'd have the greatest opportunity, a military they _probably_ agree with which is how they ended up in an upper rank to _begin_ with. So. Yeah. But!-... Well, remember that Leia _was_ in politics before this started, Han was a smuggler, and Luke now has to restart the entire Jedi order. ... Pretty sure they'll be busy. "...then there are some after..." Yes. There are some after. And that is the nicest thing I'll say about the sequels. More _accurately,_ they are hot garbage. _Very well filmed_ hot garbage, with _awesome_ special effects, good acting, good directing. The _story,_ however, is utter trash. I advise either not watching them, or going in _expecting_ awfulness (that way, if you _do_ like them somehow, you can only be pleasantly surprised). I watched all three in a row in one day, and kept watching because I love Star Wars and kept _hoping_ that they'd get better, somehow, and so I would never 'wonder' what was there. I couldn't even understand, watching it, _why_ I hated it so much. I understand _now,_ but there would be spoilers in revealing that... so if you get around to that first sequel movie I'll wait and reveal it there since 'The Force Awakens' contains _almost everything_ wrong with the sequels, which just keeps going. There's a couple _really bad_ bits in the _third_ sequel, but it was already a dumpster fire by that point even _without_ insulting our intelligence or removing the possibility of consequences. Even George Lucas and some of those _making_ the movie thought it was pretty bad, in some cases for reasons I agree with, in others not. Anyway, now that you've seen these, I recommend watching The Wizard of Oz, Planet of the Apes (1968), and Alien, as well as looking at a Raiders of the Lost Ark poster, and being very slightly aware of Star Trek (the original series). Why all that? Because _then_ you'll be ready to appreciate _Spaceballs!_ :)
