Also really struggled with Kylo. Felt like I was stacked with resources and couldn't use it enough to then lose everything within 2 turns. His fate deck is so brutal

Fantasy Flight's Star Wars games have exceptional artwork, and much of it is reused across their different games, so they get a lot of mileage out of it. Ravensburger probably didn't want to invest in a lot of new original artwork if this is the only SW games they'll produce.

I didn't realize that FFG re-uses across games, but that makes a lot of sense and sounds like a solid business model - you're probably right here!

Could not agree more with Kylo. His fate deck is too aggressive and unlike each other character, he doesn't have an efficient way of dealing with it. For me what I like to do is change Crushing Hope to act like Lady Tremaine's condition card, where you pick the two fate cards and choose which gets played and where. Also making Snoke behave like the Client so that it gives a free ambition action, and changing the maneuver card to an item it is more easily accesible. With these tweaks I feel like Kylo has a lot more power to fight back against the overwhelming fate deck built for him.

This was a good review. Kylo is very hard to win with aha. Wish he was a bit easier. You gotta use snoke a lot. Overall the game is great. The biggest fault is that off Gideon is too easy played a certain way

I love villainous, it’s one of my favorite board games but I was worried because I was not a fan of the marvel villainous. I just got the Star Wars villainous for Christmas and it’s a lot of fun!!

Interesting review. I find Kylo Ren is nerfed compared to the others - as long as you have Snoke it’s straightforward, and if you lose him you can get him back. He’s always won when I’ve played!

Glad to hear you've had better luck!! In the 5 games we had Kylo Ren in play, he never came close. Everyone was pretty good about fating him regularly enough though. If you don't watch him or fate him I could see him winning more.

There certainly have been a lot of divided opinions on them!! We've enjoyed them, but I know every figure looks different, so ours may have been manufactured in a way that we found more pleasing :)

@@TerreDiceGames to me if they had just used a glitter or some sort of process that made it look sparkly or something I would like it. But my grievous literally has white tissue or something sticking out his eye and my darth Vader looks ridiculous with these white cylinder beads at the bottom super clear and nowhere else. My other figures look fine. Just those two.

We think it’s a great adaption/continuation of the Villainous line! We’d recommend getting the one whose stories you like best. If Star Wars is your favorite, this one is for you!

The B-/C+ specifically refers to art direction, which we hold to a high bar :) still agree this is worth picking up, much the way folks ignore the photo grabs used in Ark Nova :)

That would be awesome and very current! Yet somehow to me she doesn’t feel like much of a villain. She believes she’s doing the right thing and generally doesn’t seem inherently evil. Bad guy? Yes. Villain? Not so sure!

The only reason I did not get the last Disney Villainous expansion was because Toy Story and Incredibles have different animation (and art on the cards) than the classic Disney animation... so this Star Wars edition bothers me waaayyyyyyy more lol
