I have the Imperial Troop Transport. Didn't know there was a grey battery cover variation. This is the best early Expanded Universe toy done. It was featured in the Marvel Comics SW comics, along with the Sandcrawler and Dewback, probably as a way to sell toys.

Very cool. I am curious what is used for the sound. Understanding more now, I would have to disassemble. The sounds still sound too slow. I had this as a kid and it went from SW to GI Joe vehicle. The prison compartment was also engineering when I played. I loved this thing. Already preordered the new one!

This is the first Star Wars vehicle that was just off screen 📺 it’s a clever toy with a primitive record player with a resonator type speaker 🔈 Million dollar 💵 question what does the switch do in side the compartment ??? Mine makes the record play slower In the Colonies they made two versions of this one that was nonfunctional and the one shown above I took working electronics out of a junker and in staled them in the non functioning one for a one off custom Hope to see some new videos soon

I actually think its plastic trips, these pieces of plastics have etchings on them and when pulled and released create noise similarly like that of a record therefore producing the whirring sound of the plastic being pulled through the machine which makes the noise or sound clip possible. Also why are you always in these corners of youtube.

Got this boxed and complete and instruction sheet. Had a go at repairing it and it works like it's brand new. Nice vehicle. First one to be made that wasn't in the films. But of course back then when much stuff wasn't wasn't available AND it talked well it was a no brainer. Also I see you have the grey cover for the BC which is very rare. You don't see those much at all as opposed to the more common red covers.

Fun note, this vehicle was actually featured in the early Marvel Star Wars series (Star Wars Weekly in the UK). I'd love to see it pop up in some modern Expanded Universe stuff.

A troop transport is supposed to be released sometime soon from the Rebels line. I doubt it will have any sound like this one had. A remake of a nostalgic piece like this is a plus in my book. Great review by the way!

Not the films, but it does turn up in some of Marvel's early Star Wars comics - I think there's one particular story between Episode IV and V, where Luke has returned to Tattooine for some reason, and he sees the Imperial Troop Transport showing past. (The real reason for its inclusion, is most likely that because they only had so man reference photos to work from, the artists drawing the Star Wars strips just went out and bought the Kenner vehicles, so they could have them as reference material from all sorts of angles. For the same reason, a lot of illustrations of the TIE Fighters show it with the Kenner toy TIE Fighter's battery box behind the central sphere of the fuselage.

This vehicle was actually in Return of the Jedi, in a longer version of the hanger scene before Han hands Lando the Millenium Falcon. You can probably find it on KZbin somewhere.

When I was younger,when the figures came out, my only issue with them were that they did not have elbow or knee joints like G.I.Joe.Of course the same applies for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe line.I like your videos

It can sound more accurate if you play the SFX when it’s flat. I found it slows down the SFX when it’s tilted. I shot videos of how to un-sieze the motor in which case it shows the plastic record inside. I also did my original Millennium Falcon, TIE Fighter, and working on the X-wing. They’re all the same 3-volt motor spinning a plastic gear against a plastic strip. The ITT of course is spinning the plastic record. The acoustics inside the shape of the vehicles basically differ the sound. I have the Dark Tower game which has a motor. It takes the mystery out of it though! lol The ITT can play at random if you don’t let each SFX play ‘til it stops or after you first fix it. Funny and frustrating at the same time. Once it settles in I can’t help but press it once a day : When I put up a dedicated Star Wars channel I’ll let everyone know.

actionjackman Since I finally got my Collectible channel up (I'm also amusement420 and yardhaunt2000 and a couple other channels over the years lol) I'm going to upload a video of that soon. I think I included the box and Instructions and an insert that was a sort of story booklet. If I recall I had to use a Canon PowerShot so the quality isn't fantastic but I have proper lights set up. I uploaded the Falcon and TIE fighter. I had my ITT working for a quite a while. I would press the buttons every day. Then it started to slow down. I haven't bothered to take it apart again. But it was fun hearing the audio after all these years. I would also have to glue the labels that identify the sounds back on. They dry out.
