I so wish Guillermo Del Toro would do the 'The Ocean...' film. He is so great with child protagonists and creepy but beautiful magical stuff, it would would be perfect

My daughter gave me this as a birthday present last year as an introduction to Neil Gaiman, of whom she is a big fan. I am now hooked on his work!

An interviewer I respect a writer I love who does indeed puts more into his endeavours than he knows ... many tx.

One of my favourite novels - Neil Gaiman is such a master of words! I've written a short composition inspired by this wonderful novel, which is on my channel!

This is one of the better interviews that Neil Gaiman gave around this time. In Mariella Frostrup he has a TV interviewer who he gets on well with (it probably helps that they're doing the second of two back-to-back interviews here, so they've had some practice). Compare this with the horrendously horrible interview session recorded for Google Talks, where Neil practically has to order the incompetent presenter to go away and let him get on with the Q+A session. This is also one of the few interviews supposedly about Ocean At The End Of The Lane that mostly sticks to a discussion of the book and its influences and doesn't get too sidetracked by Neil's many other books. I'm still waiting for him to explain about the cats, though. And no-one's asked him if Lettie Hempstock ever comes back (and so of course he doesn't say).

I disagree about The Ocean at The End of The lane is not appropriate reading for children. The cost for defeating the dragons is high. But in the helplessness help is found... And that's a good thing.
