How Saint Louis dominated Hawaii high school football in the 1980s and 1990s

Everyone talks about Cal Lee and deservedly so. Hes the greatest high school coach in Hawaii history. But all these great QBs and offensive weapons that have come through St. Louis, one constant factor remains and that is Ron Lee who is the OC. He definitely doesn't get enough credit. They talk about the great QBs and recievers and the QB coach. But it's actually Ron Lee who has made all these talented players great. His offensive mind and how easy he makes it for the players is pure genius. He is the sole reason why St. Louis's offense has been so dominant over all these years. He teaches these QBs and recievers how to actually read defenses. Most coaches in high school don't even know how to do this. They think they do, but actually don't or they just put a playbook together and just run plays. Ron Lee teaches these kids the necessary fundamentals of running and offense and what to expect in every scenario. That's basically why they almost always dominate opposing teams defenses is because they out coach almost everyone they face.

Because if they win this week and play Kamehameha again next week and beat them then guess who's going to states, not Kamehameha.

1. Recruit the best kids statewide from the youth leagues and out of their homeschools 2. Hold those same kids back one year so they are older then the competition 3. Use politics and strength of alumni association to change rules to favor you - 4. Use "repetition" and "longevity" as reason why you are succesful LOL, they were the bottom of the bucket when coaching at Kalani HS and Univ. Of Hawaii.

Saint Louis facilities in the 80s up till early 2000s were sub par compared some public schools in hawaii. Every school has been recruiting just as long as Saint Louis. Stop making excuses and accept the fact that the boys worked hard to earn those championships.

With how small the island of Oahu is and how much talent De La Salle has to choose from, Oahu has produced a higher percentage of better players with a smaller number of people.
