Great vid! Air Jamaica is really missed by the people of Jamaica and its many LoveBird passengers. Truly hope it comes back one day. We need some serious Jamaican investors to start up that venture.

I saw my first Caribbean Airlines aircraft with an "Air Jamaica sticker" two weeks ago. It made me sad to know that the demise of my beloved national carrier is truly drawing near. Of course, I can always come back to this great video to remind me of...."the way we were".

What wonderful memories this brings!!! My first flight ever was on an Air Jamaica DC-8 in 1970 and I flew on a JM A340 (in First) just weeks before Air Jamaica retired the type. Thanks for these great shots of my national carrier.

The main reason I love the AJ 340s is the smooth landings and takeoffs. Can't say the same for the AAs that fly into Ja.

The first landing seemed not so good but you can tell it was all pilot. no computers involved. Pilots these days are getting lazy relying on automation and when real problems occur they don't know how to fly the plane and have to be calling the company. Air Jamaica pilots will always be the best in my eyes

With regards to MBJ terminal, the expanded and modernized terminal does have a sense of place even more than KIN. While the exterior design is not that impressive, the interior for the most part does give you that tropical feel but in a modern updated way that meets the industry standard. People who use the airport, whether employees or passengers etc, dont feel as cramped as before. My main problem is that, there could have been more consistency with the design. Otherwise pretty impressive.

prefer the old montego bay lounge. it was so stylish with plantation shutters and big over head fan. was a delight to wait for the flight. served jamaican food and good cocktails too. james bond 007 or johnny shaft could have walked in. MISS YOU JA!

You know what interesting... The more MBJ terminal expanded, and modernized.... the more JM service reduced. MBJ sure does not look like this anymore. Shame JM in its glory did not have the current terminal to use. O WELL! If they can't use, its always there for another airline to utalize.

The last Air Jamaica, the ending of the video , beautiful take off ... By watching this video I will ask this question, why did the government of Jamaica stood & watch this beautiful airline fall into pieces? & Now comes with Fly Jamaica, that's rubbish, the old Air Jamaica is way better interms of also the humming bird logo, that color was just a 1 of a kind, & real Jamaican looking
@Starboard766 жыл бұрын
I just happen to be gunning for a few ancient relics (like the original big Jamaican airc. an Air Jam DC-8 Super 61) only found a faint far away takeoff shot. But to reply to your question, why else do good airlines disappear, well usually, it's human-centric, someone high up - with the airline or within Gov't - screws everything up placing their personal interest high above the necessities of the carrier. Air Jamaica had a great product, I flew with them on at least 8 occasions and none were bad, NOT one! And you're absolutely correct that color scheme was brilliant, had they been managed properly , there is no doubt in my mind...we have eventually seen a beautiful Air Jamaica 747 join the A340 fleet. Thanks for watching!
@gang400115 жыл бұрын
When was this A340 video taken? And yes, I agree with Tedjay, I hate the new terminal, people come to Jamaica for different and all you see is the modernization of American ways into there. Now, Air Jamaica is sold to Caribbean Airline and 70% of people are getting laid off. Don't you love the accent when your on the plane and hearing the announcements? It's so hard to see it change but, unless Jamaica fix up themselves, it's going to stay like that.
