If the CEO of starts was paid only 10X a regular employee and the salary was split amongst baristas, each barista would make only 30 cents more per hours in the US. So the CEOs 35 million$ salary means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

With Luckin coffee entering the US soon, I wonder if these two factors will push starbucks over the edge and pursue "craft" automated cafes. Especially considering that's Luckin's format and they have been INSANELY successful at beating out starbucks. Starbucks already has some locations that are automated and/or self-service in Asia, so they have been toying with the idea...

It is unreasonable for largely unskilled labor to expect to coast at a low skill low wage job forever expecting that their market value magically increases. The way to raise your wage is by pursuing new roles. If turnover is too high, THEN an employer might consider wage increases.
@blackjackoc4858Күн бұрын
@@wafflewafflegod you say this as if its easy. the nature of low skill work is that turnover is high and advancement is had to come by. for adults working minimum wage or near minimum wage jobs you simply dont have the luxury to consistently move up the corporate chain. the higher ups at mcdonalds didnt all start as fry cooks from poor families they are all out of the corporate class
@kylebichler2258Күн бұрын

I think it's faulty logic to think that the CEO is paik 10k times more because they work that much more. I believe the company pays your worth. In the case of a CEO, they are worth as much as 10,000 regular baristas to the company.
@dan114222 сағат бұрын
???? No one is arguing this. These people simply want better work conditions/better pay. They recognize a CEO gets better pay but at same time a company can help their employees. It’s not complicated
@MegaLeoben20 сағат бұрын
@@dan1142 Well, they are being paid the market rate/conditions. If a competitor offers a better wage, the employees are free to leave, since there is no contract etc. But since they aren't leaving, then it means they are already being paid the best.
