That quote seemed so strange and business-schooly, (we are business people serving coffee, the implication being that it's about profit and a good business model) that I felt like it couldn't be Howard's. It wasn't lol.. he said: 'We've never been in the coffee business serving people, we've always been in the people business serving coffee.' Perfectly normal that a YT commenter makes a mistake but a bit weird that this channel liked it. Maybe pay more attention to what your speakers are saying.. or perhaps some social media person runs the channel.

@@RJYounglingTricking Exactly, and thumbs up from Kenya, RJ Youngling! I always admired how Howard Schultz spoke as a leader (hopefully I'm not fooled by the cover of the book) and he always emphasized that Starbucks is about people i.e the hospitality. I definitely felt that difference when I lived near two coffee shops in the US. In one (unnamed) shop, the servers were slightly rude. In Starbucks, they remembered your name and made you feel at home! Starbucks coffee was a bit more expensive, and the shop slightly further down the road, but I went there because that hospitality started my day off right.

Also prices are relatively high for just a coffee. In italy coffee late costs 1 euro. Uk - 2.55 pounds.......
@felipeconstancio74458 жыл бұрын
Here in Brazil, as a "coffee country", we drink 8, 9 or even 10 cups of coffee per day, we like the "old school coffee", that one you do at home, so to make some profit in Brazil, they had to keep the prices down, so here in Brazil, Starbucks is acutally cheap! I've drank some cups of coffee in a Starbucks in Manchester, I actually liked the coffee, a little expensive, but it was relatively good but I also drank a cup of coffee in London, and I didn't like at all!
@EvaGreenFanPennyDreadful8 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter what the prices are. If people are willing to pay for it, then you have a market. Anyway, you're not just "buying a coffee". You're buying the Starbucks experience, which for certain people, means "warmth" and 'community" and "routine". If I take the exact contents ina Starbucks coffee and dump it into a plastic cup, and sell it to a Starbucks customer, they won't buy it.
