got a copy of starcadia quest and the arrrmada expansion. insanely fun game
@sebastiantrost64094 жыл бұрын
I played the campaign on one day when I got it. The game is quite a lot of fun - but not as awesome as Arcadia Quest. It is a lot faster though, easier and more forgiving, as enemies do not scale and death is not followed by a penalty like a curse. Also one's heroes are significantly more mobile. Setup is very fast thanks to the randomized system. Curiously, some early upgrades are stronger than similar later ones. The new event deck is great, as it allows to impede other players without actively hunting them with your heroes and it keeps everybody on their toes. On the other hand, it is another layer of randomization and therefore equalization between the players, keeping the field together despite the best plans players might have. The items make you stronger from mission to mission, but the don't escalade like they do in Arcadia. There are two things, that I missed from the original Arcadia System: The stories to each szenario were hilarious and gave each one a distinctive charme. Secondly, the overall win is essentially given to the player who got the most points, other than the one who bested the bad guy - which can lead to runaway wins prior to the finale. All in all beautiful and fun game! And a good alternative to Arcadia for being faster and easier. Stick to Arcadia if you prefer story, depth and variety, though.

It might be that, my assumption was its a variant of Chewbacca referencing the word idiot in japanese baka which is often said by characters in anime that stutter the word, "ba-baka".

Went in $350 on the Kickstarter, There is not even close to enough acctual game content for it to be worth that. just more characters. it needed alot of work on the gear organization and balance
@muuubiee4 жыл бұрын
Went $210 in, it's a fair amount of minis, and some extra gameplay. But honestly, not worth it for me. It plays a lot better than arcadia quest, way faster to set up... The mins are very detailed and high quality, but the components are pretty low quality. The cards are bent and in cheap cardstock. However, if I find people who really like it, and we can play it often, it'd probably be worth it. I'd rather have all the expansions of Root with some extras than my "all major content" starcadia quest. Going all in wasn't that great of an idea, since there was a lot of expensive non-gameplay or mostly non-gameplay stuff to buy (I guess 140$). There's always resell value though, and once I'm bored of it, I'm hoping to recoup my money or possibly make a profit.
@aviranc4 жыл бұрын
@@muuubiee Are the cards and tokens not the same quality as AQ? Well IMHO it's super weird that you guys knew the amount of content back then and you backed it, and now saying it is not close to worth it. Nothing really changed. Furthermore, I am pretty sure you didn't advertise this game for sale yet after stating the game is not worth it, so I think you don't REALLY believe in that, and you know it has a fun game experience you would not want to skip, so for you it is ACTUALLY WORTH IT. Anyway, I do really hope the game is even more balanced and organized than AQ and the great quality still the same (Of both gameplay and components), and most importantly has tons of fun in it.

CMON games may be great if you get them from Kickstarter but the reviews of retail versions are brutal: little content, limited replayability, really cheap quality components....not good. I might consider backing a KS version of a CMON game (Have done so with only Trudvang Legends and Marvel United so far) but will NEVER buy CMON in retail.

Very disappointment. This seems closer to a rehash/reskin of Arcadia Quest than Arcadia Quest 2.0. Even a lot of the hero abilities and quests are identical. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems this box has even fewer scenarios than the original. Same amount of heroes, very, very similar rules, even the guild symbols are the same. I think Tom should have at least made one sentence about is this worth getting if you have the original. From what I saw, except the theme and a few changes here and there, it's essentially the same game, but now in space and with less scenarios.
@muuubiee4 жыл бұрын
It's very streamlined, and plays better (I found Arcadia quest to play really poorly). Arcadia quest takes like 30-60min to set up, not many set ups to choose from, the quests are hugely valuable and causes stalemates because you don't want to lose last hit. 3 heroes often end up with one more or less idle hero. Death curses punishing death, even though dying is part of the game, due to the lack of ability to heal. Heroes are poorly balanced. Monsters are pretty static and don't provide much fun. Starcadia quest is quick to set up, you don't have to flip around in a rulebook to find it. Combat rules are a bit simpler. Event cards make monsters very proactive. Death is not a big deal anymore, so you're no longer punished for playing the game. Heroes being 2 lets you do more between rests, each hero can just do more. Heroes are better balanced, they're all quite powerful. Like arcadia quest the quests are always the same, but due to random tiles each game is a bit different, the layout changes a lot on how things are played. Maps are much better balanced for 3 and 4 players. Monsters are more unique, they have their own abilities basically. It's basically Arcadia Quest 2.0. Still very expensive, I'm not sure how I feel about buying it retail (probably more value than arcadia quest retail). I'm not so supportive of minature games though (starcadia quest was my first kickstarter miniature game, probably my last), they're expensive and kind of shallow, it's good dumb fun though.
@aviranc4 жыл бұрын
They are actually really different in how they are set-upped and played. Randomized setup that is unique and fast so you can start having fun playing the scenario, Event Deck which adds a lot of meaning to what you do in your turn and other changes. SQ not only improved some aspects, but it also took the game to a different streamlined and move lively environment direction, so If there will be AQ 2.0 I am sure it will be much more similar to AQ than SQ. Regard the amount of content, I think its pretty similar to AQ core. Don't forget that each scenario here will actually have a unique map and monsters combination, which is super cool IMO!
