Dude, I love this wraith play. It's SO MUCH more fun to watch~. Rather than making turrets in your base, the Terran instead decides, "No... y'know what...? I'm going to MEET YOU in the sky... I'm going to HUNT you." LOVE this new wraith stuff we're seeing! I really hope we see more of it! 8:22 LOL And ah man... that ending... Ah well, gg~.

He was so heavily focused in his early game harass he did almost as much damage to his own production as he did to the Zerg. If he'd been able to keep up worker production on top of killing drones, he'd have taken an advantage, as it was, he just about kept it balanced in harvester counts, but Zerg had the exp.

It’s not so weird when you really look at it. T was doing a lot of damage to Zerg, but not quite enough, and meanwhile he was spending so much time micro’ing/trying to do damage he stayed on one base for WAY too long. 😯 Artosis’ comment was dead-on… even though T had slightly more drones, Z’s drones were more efficient since they were split among 3 bases - no ‘waiting’ to get access to a mineral patch like you see when you have 20+ workers on 1 base. And of course, WAY more gas for Z too, courtesy it being 3 bases vs 1 for a long time. TLDR: The Terran needed to expand behind all the attacking he was doing, and he either forgot to or just didn’t have the APM for it.

It was painful to watch this loss, just some poor micro and mismanagement after such an awesome early lead , but, that's Starcraft for ya!

You can't build two starports, make like 4 wraiths then stop making units to build a CC faster, it makes no sense. When you build two starports you gotta use them. If you are going to expand, you gotta keep building workers. Depots after depots. Keeping everything working like this you eventually will save 400 minerals but will take some time.

That is such a terran favorite map.. the base layout.. the narrow entrances.. the highgrounds and cliffs.. the amount of possible expansions and their location.. I'm always amazed when a terran manages to lose on it ngl.

This map is not terran favored, defending muta harass is impossible with this layout your only option is to counterattack to force them out. Highground lurkers are also available to defend 4th gas so again not terran favored.

It's a shame that in the last battle Artosis only looked at the Ultra fight.. completely missing the marine drops destroying bases on the other side of the map.

I think "one one one" strategy would be a better follow up after floating that factory over. But I understand when terran skips a lot of workers like this, they need to do a lot of damage

I always make fun of that name. 1-1-1 is the name for a strategy, where you have 0-1 barracks producing units, 0 factories and 2 starports. Clearly we have to call it 1-1-1.

Just needed second base up and mining a bit earlier (could do that/achieve that with the missing A.P.M./Speed you mentioned). But otherwise that was really good ideas and decision making I'd argue apart from that - FACT?

not really, the money, time and supply of valks would have prevented getting enough wraiths, and pros can just scourge valks easily without rine support. Even with rine support it just takes some lings to draw their fire.

I feel like the wraith play is super good but you gotta be super quick and effective with it, since mutas will win against them. The perfect play that we saw from BishOp was them targeting the overlords. Wraith do 20 base damage to overlords, meaning that you only need 5 wraiths to 2-shot them. If the zerg doesnt get speed quicky and you get cloak early, you can basically perma suplyblock them. I wish KOp would have targeted 815's overlords more in the early game, that could have changed the pace of the game and the result a ton.

I wonder if With that amount of mutas wouldn't a valkyrie be a better option than vessels, even 815 didn't really have much money to switch into lurkers at that point.

Good idea, but valks take so much time to build and cost 3 supply and basically equal 2 wraiths worth of money. It would be hard to pull off on 1 base I think.

As to why wraiths builds are becoming more popular, its your classic builds counter builds rotation we see all the time in old games, like nowadays stuff like 2 hatch lurker isnt that popular anymore, u said it yourself its not the best build and more often or not in TvZ we see some 2 hatch moota play or some other variation of early moota builds, so it just makes sense wraith builds would be poping up again (just like we saw valk builds being popular not that long ago), ppl are simply trying ways how to stop muta and i dont hate it, but KOp rly needs to work on his wraith control, like he opend nicely but then he just lost waay too many wraiths for no reason....

Not a big fan of any build that doesn't take upgrades into considerations, it's like the player is gambling that the opponent will make a mistake.

I feel like Artosis was focusing too much on the harass. Yeah it was killing drones but supplies and worker counts were pretty close due to Terran being on 1 base and rushing the factory and starports.

Question from a noob: why no valks against the masses of mutas

I'm assuming the idea is to rather spend the gas to work towards vessels instead, which enable your SK terran follow-up, while also countering mutalisks with irradiate. Also, the game had gone on for long enough that by the time the valks would be out, Zerg was almost into ultralisks (or defilers / lurkers), where you'd definitely want vessels instead. Valks are more of a mid-game push / anti-muta tool.

The vessels should have done a better job against the mutas with irradiate but terran was definitely just too behind in units (and bases) at that point. Agree that a lot of games, terran can do pretty well with a few valks in the mix.

Valks seem pretty bad without marines to protect them. If you add a valk to the wraith ball it's going to instantly die to scourge
