After finishing all Zeratul missions it's time to head back to the Starmap and complete the left-over missions. Today I decided to go to Haven, and check on the Infested there... Although it turns out that the Protoss aren't particularly happy with us being there.

Um, I think Tosh saying "If that be true, the future cannot be fixed." is not supposed to be depressing (with "fixed" as in "salvaged" or "repaired"), but uplifting (with "fixed" as in "set in stone", "predetermined"). Aka, Tosh is saying that choices matter and we have free will. You can get the bonus rewards you have missed in a mission by replaying it in the archives. You can also get the bonus rewards from missions you haven't played at all that way (Tosh/Nova -> 50000 Credits from the mission you didn't do; Haven Protoss/Hanson -> The Research you couldn't get (in this case, 3 Zerg Research -> 30000 Credits).

I reckon it's a matter of interpretation more so than an exact meaning. While I agree with your assessment on 'fixed', it sort of injects a bit of self doubt in there. It gives Jims little saying, and then questions it by sorta hedging it against Jim's trust of Zeratul's judgement and predictions. Tosh is, in a way, saying "If what Zeratul believes to be true is worth a damn, your *Specific personal value* isn't". Course, that's a matter of perspective. Which is what writers should do when they use fate and 'seeing the future' as a plotpoint. Have always hated prophesy and fate. Anyway. I think you're right in that that was how Lowko interpreted it(The whole 'fixed vs fixed' thing), as I don't see Lowko overthinking it like that. I only did cause Lowko's negative reaction to tosh's comment made me wonder why he had one, so I sorta made up my own explanation.

Purifying the colony was the right decision. It may seem cruel but Hanson herself said that she won't be able to find a cure because the virus mutates too quickly. The option where you fight against the protoss is just unrealistic. First of all the zerg would spread freely without anybody there to hinder them and if you purge them yourself you can at least spare the ones that aren't infested. That said you did well citizen. Purge the xenos! Nice series btw I am really enjoying it

Adune R Agreed there are many things off about this. I think that Ariel was aware that her colony is infected but she didn't care in Safe Haven you repel the protoss but it seems Ariel doesn't mind zerg roaming around the planet freely and infesting even more colonists. This reminds me of when Samir Duran and Vorazun's mother being controlled by Kerrigan, because every planet that Ariel steps in gets flooded with zerg and she seems to be ok about it...

@LowKo, You really need to put in 2-3 science vessels in your mech pile. They heal for so much and would of saved some of your tanks easy. It would make your minerals be more economic!!! Cheers for reading.

I would suggest a person who likes the other cinematic better needs a counselor more. It's so cliche'd and rooted in outdated, sexist storytelling tropes. Pretty-lady-falls-for-the-hero-even-though-he's-a-detached-barely-functioning-alcoholic. She has to walk away from him because he's such a badass who can't stray from his mission. It just doesn't square with the SC2 lore at all. Add to that the fact that Hansen finding a cure pretty much breaks cannon with the rest of the story. A cure to the Zerg virus would make Kerrigan way less threatening than she's portrayed through the endgame. Also, the mission "Infested" in Heart of the Swarm, the one where you first meet Stukov, couldn't even have happened if a cure existed. As disturbing as the infested Hansen option is, it just fits in so much better with the rest of the story.

That depends, if he chooses to flood nydus canals with lava then in All In he might use them against zerg waves of brood lords. And the good thing about non-autocast hive mind is ... you choose which unit to control... if it was autocast you might have end up with dried out emulator and few zerglings. I usually set up 5 of those near artifact on high ground and take control of brood/muta waves. Don't need any other defenses there. It's absolutely useless if you "shatter the sky"

don't forget to check the console in the lab every time you get more research. You don't automatically get paid for your excess research, you have to go to the console every time.

Lowko, you made the right choice. There is no cure for the zerg virus. The game never says Dr Hanson found one, and if there were, the Protoss would know, bcause they are way ahead of Terrans. She wanted you to act on pity, but the true mercy is to end the suffering of those who can't be saved. The right choice is to limit your losses and save what can be saved. Just like Arthas did.

Since you took the Hive mind emulator, make sure you take the air version of All In. It's so much easier to just kind control the broodlords and mutas rather than kill them. Also because the nydus work mission is super cool.

Lowko actually made the better choice, this is the only choice making where one is actually better. If you decide to save the colony, there won't be an assured cure, while if you purify it, the problem is actually solved.

After trying out both sides, I'd say siding with the protoss was the right choice. Selendis is polite enough to let Jim handle this in his own way, and if you're quick, you can save all settlements apart from the first one (already infested). Not to mention Tosh had already told Jim that Ariel is a "honey trap".

Rob Laquiere Kerrigan' infestation was specially created by the overmind (presumably the only one, considering the overmind is now dead). The infestation Hanson faces is just from being around the Zerg virus too long.

Kerrigan was more like modified. As you see in the other expansions she is actually most her. The virus basically kills the person and acts like a parasite that takes over the body.

It's easy if you know how Raynor thinks, he always have to at least try to save the little guy. So Saving haven is the correct choice, helping the protoss is out of character for Jim.

Yeah ... the Protoss were firing up their main guns to literally burn off the entire planet. Raynor offered to soften the purification for the terrans by going planetside and fighting the zerg and infested himself. Which is perfectly within his character.

@@Rikard_Nilsson I know it's kinda late, but Raynor himself said that the only cure to infestation is to burn them off in Meinhoff, right in front of Ariel. While he is a nice guy at his core, he is not above letting personal emotion interfere with his decision. He's faced off against Kerrigan multiple time in WoL, had some mental breakdown with it but never once did it affect his decision. He has sworn to kill Kerrigan out of vengence in BW, after seeing Fenix die, yet spare her life this time around because as he said to Horner, "This is bigger than both you and I". He's pushed his men to Char, the gate of hell so that "If we can pull this off, we can save billion". The guy uses logic in his decision making, and will take the risk and casualties should it be saving more people. Thus choosing to burn the infested colonist is not out of his character, just a dark and tragic side of it

I loved the alternative cut to the Infested Hanson scene that Blizzard should at Blizzcon one year. After that final bullet, Hanson hand twitches and Raynor just unloads into her infested body. Everyone in the convention hall burst into laughter. They also showed the scene where the Hyperion is running away from the Mutalisk swarm. All the guns are firing into the air but there were no mutalisks any where in sight. When the camera cuts to the bridge, there were a few mutalisks on the bridge. They weren't flapping their wings or anything. They were just sliding around the bridge.

You can play the missions you didn't pick on your first playthrough and still get the rewards for completing them. This means that if you go to the console on the bridge, you can play the mission you would have gotten if you'd picked Dr. Hanson, and get the credits, as well as the Zerg research, that choosing her would have provided.

Lowko, setting aside that you chose the mission that I would disagree with for story reasons, if you do this mission, you should not ignore the warnings about a new settlement being infected and must try to stop it in order to prevent the infestation from spreading and having to deal with more enemies. Besides, there's an achievement available for being able to save all the settlements.

Saving Dr. Hanson is Canon to proff that you can save infested (for example kerrigab) but some said sided with protoss make more sense(i dont understand this mindset). Either way its all our choice in this game. Lowko did want to save Dr. Hanson but wanted to get that sweet2 protoss research(ass)

I know technically the first option is the canon one but this one makes more sense from a story perspective imo. Lowko, you can go to the mission archives and do the other one now too, which you should do, along with Nova, already!

These optional choice missions are actually more like a choose your own storyline type of deal... If you side with Hanson, the colonists are barely infested and the Protoss are just wiping out people because they detected a smidge of zerg shit. If you side with the Protoss, the infestation is like massive, the story retcons itself so that you automatically do the right thing.

If you do the mission right you can save every small terran town without letting them fall to the Zerg, so by clearing the infestation (Protoss option) you're doing the right thing
