Regarding supply depot build time, I think the subtle asymmetries between the races in StarCraft is part of the whole appeal. Each race has these little legs up and disadvantages compared to the others.

@25:00 Don't forget Terran always has a Battle Cruiser/s in high orbit which allows for the drop where the orbital command would act as a guidance system, Protoss simply don't need that technology since they warp everything in, instead of dropping it from the skies. What are Zerg supposed to do? Drop overlords from high orbit killing them before reaching their intended zone?

@@aname.whatdidyouexpect1877 For their ground units, I wouldn't imagine a gas filled Overlord travelling at hyper speeds burning up would be a good thing. So they'd quickly make a Hatchery while Kerrigan manually controls the brood until Overlords can be spawned to allow her control to be localized to the Queen in charge of said invasion/fight.

@@LetterB2 depends on game overlords vs lore overlords. Lore overlords are re-entry and hyperspace proof, and are also absolutely massive. The leviathan, while bigger, doesn't dwarf overlords. Like how battlecruisers are larger than science vessels, but throughout the games there are scenes, maps, and missions that happen inside of these ships.

About the supply drop ability Terran have, another thing to keep in mind is that supply depots can be delayed in construction by killing the SCV, which you cannot do to a Protoss pylon or Zerg overlord. As soon as the construction starts for a pylon, the probe can run away and harassing units have to kill the structure itself to delay it. For Zerg, you can technically kill the egg an overlord hatches from, but you don't know what is in an egg before it hatches, and eggs have a significant amount of armor making them very hard to kill early in the game. Additionally, because supply depots can be raised/lowered, the Terran is incentivized to build the early ones as part of a wall-off, which makes them more vulnerable to harassment early on. Overall this leaves the Terran more vulnerable to hitting a supply block from being harassed, so they were given the supply drop ability to compensate. Using the supply drop ability still comes at the cost of a mule or scan, and it requires an existent supply depot that doesn't have the 'hat' already, so the ability overall has enough drawbacks that players don't want to use it unless they *have* to.

Great series! I like those Protoss ground armies, they look incredibly hard to control. Disruptors, high templar, prism, blink stalkers, zealots and everything, I wonder how many control groups Trap uses.

About the supply depot, I think it is because building it ties up a worker while under construction. Protoss workers warp in pylons and overlords come from larvae

Yeah as Toss you're basically on the back foot as soon as the match begins and you have to survive. If you can get to the mid/late game you have a shot.

Obviously if you get an obscene amount of late game cap ships you can take them assuming you have time to yet the boys deployed, but how often do you get to that stage

On the one hand with the Supply Depot - Terran loses their SCV for the duration of its construction, while Zerg loses a larvae and Protoss only loses a Probe for the time needed to start the Pylon. So in a way, Supply Depots cost a little bit more than Overlords or Pylons insofar as lost mining time. On the other hand, in the single-player campaign Terrans can drop entire Supply Depots instantly, Protoss can warp in Pylons in a couple of seconds, and Overlords can mutate faster and provide more control. So, balance.

Game 1 was a real fight that could go both way ! But game 2 was a clear show of changes to Protoss that are NEEDED ! Like bowling should be kept as a real sport and not be I SC2 reavers should replace them and Psy Storms should NEVER hit AIR!!! Also Terran NEED Banshees with AoE ability to clean this and protect medivacs.

its crazy. i was watching some StarCraft 2 videos from 8-9 years ago and man StarCraft 2 was way more interesting to watch back then. the units and upgrades that was there back then compared to what it is now....

In my opinion it was super boring, 6 worker start was awful and slow paced. The skill level of pros was laughable in comparison to pros today.
