Just a random comment, but even though it sometimes doesn't show up well on the minimap, I have to say I really like the purple vs yellow colors as an alternative to the standard red vs blue.

Showtime quickly expanding to the bottom right is actually so clever! If/when the game goes long, those bases usually end up going to the bottom left player, and in this case, Maru took those bases after they were already deeply mined.

ShoWTimE just emptied Maru's bases from the beginning, that lower right corner base he took dried a lot of Maru's income for the later stages of the game, as the game progressed he just fell back and mined those bases he could defend easier while the bases that were left for Maru to take had already some mining I love this Zerg'y way of playing Protoss makes it an interesting race to watch unlike a couple years ago

Random question, why do terrans no longer use a depot, barracks, and then a tech lab or whatever to compete the wall off? Instead moving it back so that the tech lab and two depots make the wall off later?

I think it’s because when you spawn on a certain side the depot will block your add on placement so they preemptively build the barracks to the side so they don’t have to stop and lift off later.

That game was just Showtime beating Maru to death with his wallet. He really should have used that income to transition to higher tech while keeping Maru contained instead of taking that bad engagement in the mid-game. A few Immortals, and perhaps even a Tempest or two to deal with the Siege Tanks would have been very useful. He DEFINITELY needed to get Storm earlier in the game as well. Still, it was a masterclass in "more stuff beats less stuff".

That is easier said than done... Against an opponent like Maru, you can't give them the slightest bit of a pause unless you very much ahead and even then it is dangerous. So upgrading is compromising your ability to pressure. I think it's no insult for Showtime to acknowledge that mechanically, Maru is just better and Showtime knows it. So he has to kind of overwhelm him from a position where he has the better income. If he had gone for the upgrades as you suggested, I suppose you would have been surprised at how fast Maru can come back to hit you. And if you invest into transition and therefore have less army or only even to him, that is enough for him to destroy you 9 times out of 10.

Mary the undying my first game I saw of maru was on submarine against a zerg, he defended the early cheese and onslaught for 15 minutes or so and out macro'd his opponent and won the game even though he was "behind" for 20 minutes against a wall he is my favourite terran!

I've never understood something; in almost all of the casts I've seen, I don't see the pros remaking the Oracle(s) if they lose them, even if they have the resources to do so. If they have so much utility in the mid-late game, why not rebuild them?? Great cast btw! You're the only Starcraft 2 caster I watch. Everybody else just speaks too differently

@@karenwang313 Orbitals are more valuable the earlier you make them so as the game goes on it becomes less worth it. Especially when you are constantly trying to remax. If you watch their resources they rarely have enough to comfortably be able to make another one and still replace troops. This is my opinion at least I am obviously not a pro player

Oracles main use is early game harassment and decent scouting. Mid game the harassment is impossible due to AA defenses. And their cost just isnt worth imo compared to observers, their stasis has some uses but is situational. This of course is just my two cents on the matter, i am no pro by any means but was a protoss player back when i played

They are VERY expensive, relatively speaking, and really only useful if you need them for detection. They have a critical design flaw in that they use their energy when attacking, making them pretty useless once a lot of units are on the field.
