These past few years it's like we're seeing the stage 3 evolution of top tier players. It's insane to think how the macro of Innovation and the "top 3 control" of HuK once seemed impossible to top. (Love you HuK, wherever you are). Guys like Maru, Dark and Serral would go undefeated against Code S HotS level play.

Yes, this was the semifinals, however ragnarok isn't really an absolute top tier Zerg, he's not 1 of the Zerg's 4 horsemen nor is he right on their heel. Yes he did beat Serral to get there but still... ZvZ is an incredibly volatile matchup and by far Serral's weakest, doesn't say much about ragnarok's other matchups.

Mass and fast banshees, one of my favourite tactics when zergs are being annoying (I sent you a replay once with a comeback in which I destroyed 5 hatcheries in like... 2 minutes with a death squad, the zerg was clearly winning until that moment)

the ranking is messed up on legaleq, none of the zerg have more than 3153 points against zergs but terrans and protoss easily can have more than 3.2k against their own race. The only reason why Serral is 2nd is because of his ZVZ which is still ranked 2nd best zvz according to that same system, yet if you look at TVT or PVP they all got higher scores, meaning that ZvZ match up is not correctly graded.

Serral really is weakest in ZvZ though. Last I checked his win rate in pro games versus protoss and terran was around 90%; by contrast, against other Zerg players he only clocks in around 70%. Legitimately, he's an incredible player, but ZvZ knocks him out of more tournaments than anything else and is the biggest reason most tournaments don't end up being Serral vs Maru in the finals.

@@glennriter5965 you missed the point. Look at the score of ZvZ of all top zerg, they are 300 points below those of TvT and PvP top players. It makes absolutely no sense that the top TvT would be at 3500 but top ZvZ would be 3150. You're right that Serral ZvZ is his lowest match up but he doesn't lose to Zergs below top 10

@@daemok4752 No I'm really not; there's more volatility in ZvZ matchups than in the other combinations. If even Serral only maintains a 70% win rate against other pro Zerg players, and he fairly regularly gets knocked out of tournaments by Zerg players who are legitimately and sometimes significantly less skilled than he is, why do you think it's a mistake in data that none of the Zerg are ranked as highly in ZvZ matchups as the other races are for the PvP and TvT matchups? You're misunderstanding what those numbers actually reflect. Those scores are a reflection of your performance in a particular type of matchup. It's not "Best player in the world gets a 3,600, next best gets a 3,500". It's much more complex than that, to the tune of "He wins 70% of matches of this type, and has a history of X number of matches, including X percent of them being players of Y relative skill level leading to x number of points being assigned". Ultimately, that lack of consistency among ZvZ matchups is the reason none of the high ranking Zerg players, even the truly amazing ones, have as high of a ZvZ score as you see with the other races. Because they aren't consistent enough in ZvZ to merit those higher scores. That's not a fault, that clearly indicates that the Zerg themselves are an unbalanced race. Not "OP" (although at the highest levels they appear to be, as they have absolutely dominated world tournaments for nearly a decade straight), but unbalanced. They don't even balance well against themselves.

Those calculated scores are the result of a modified Glicko rating system with a logistic underlying probability model. I know you have absolutely no idea what any of that means, but suffice it to say that the way those matches are being calculated is the same for all of the races. If you're going to keep popping off at the mouth on topics you're completely clueless about, you're just going to make even more of a spectacle of yourself. Take some advice from that Daemok fellow (yeah I know, it's sad that I feel I have to point out that this reference is deliberate) and shut up, because you clearly have no idea what YOU are talking about.

@@ObeliskM I beg to differ. Cyclone are plenty strong enough to handle mutalisks and not like they work against thors. Sure they can try to run around it but battle mech is very fast. Sure technically speaking mass muta will work but turrets and vikings handle that.
