As a long-time listener who either is eating or falling asleep to these, allow me to offer why: It’s really nice to have something engaging or interesting to focus on through just audio. It replaces the other 30 random thoughts that’d be there anyway. And the style of casting you do allows for me to follow the game really well and understand what / why is happening. So I can close my eyes and try to imagine the game-state while I drift off. Hope that helps. Big thanks for years Lowko!

Hello Lowko, I'm an "new" "old" player (that depends on what you take first). I played Starcraft 1 & Broodwar back in the day (early 2000's) and then Starcraft 2, but I stopped playing it after heart of the swarm. But I still loved watching competitive SC2 play (back in the day, you had two french streamers named Pomf & Thud that were excellent casters). I lost track of the competitive SC2 scene when they stopped casting SC2 matches (I wasn't interested in their other content). I found your channel some months ago, and I'm really glad to have found this channel. Your game analysis, for a layman like me, is pure gold. It even make me want to play the game again. Keep up the good work!

Hey, I was in your boat a year ago and finally downloaded SC2. If I may make a suggestion. The sc2 player "Vibelol" has 3 youtube playlists, one for each race, called "terran/zerg/protoss Bronze to GM," and if you watch those videos and practice what he is saying you will destroy your competition easily. Until youre in diamond league, youre just mastering the basics and he teachers you everything you need one video at a time. I went from bronze 3 to Plat 2 in 1 season anf the next season, i got plat 1. So if you think you don't know where to begin, id suggest the first video in that playlist. He is very calm and keeps a level head while he is under attack and it really helped me maintain peace in my games. Bonne chance mec!

Watching this at 4am while trying to sleep I feel a little called out ;-) But your videos work for me because they are usually a bit longer and provide something to listen to that is engaging but not too emotional. Also you have a friendly way of speaking and are not as over hyped as some other casters are. Definitely a compliment. And I have never even played a single match of SC2 myself, just the WoL campaign 10 years ago. It's like listening to a friend who is talking about his hobby very passionately. Great stuff!

Learning before going to bed (or also drinking alcohol) can actually be beneficial to retention, because you are putting your mind is in a less active state, where it can focus on storing the information rather than processing new information (at least according to my psychology classes).

The only way this could get better is if you could make your cat Toby watch the game and we had a camera down at the bottom. Then, we could see his reactions to you casting the game. Also, you could have pictures of Toby surprised. For example, appear on the screen when there is a bad engagement. Like punch noise from 1970's Batman TV show. Needless to say, I got ideas for days.

Lowko, i also fall asleep sometimes to your vids. Dutch english is so clean somehow that you sound like a young modern viasat history guy :D and i also tend to skip the first few minutes where nothing happens even if already falling asleep. So my suggestion is to fill the beginning with more stats, prehistory , group standing etc. , which you do in speech, but man swap screen for once or pull chat.

Game 1 ended the way it did because showtime was able to snipe the Brood Lords except 1 before losing the Tempests. I also thought it was going to be a Protoss L until I realised Reynor only had 1 left

yeah you can find some pro's 2v2 but it's not really common and there are no tournaments

2v2 tournaments happen if someone sponsors them. There was a fun 2v2 tournament last year that Olievera and Serral won. It was there I was made aware those two are actually good friends. Unfortunately, I forgot that tournament name, though there are casted games on YT.

yes lowko, diamond players are allergic to zerg spellcasters. we are not good enough to use them well. therefore we dont use them. and we *hate* that the game is sometimes balanced around assuming those units are used efficiently by everyone.
