Serral was 1 skipped larva injection to lose the game.Thats how the majority of zergs lose in those types of scenarios. I would have been toasted in like the third push.

I always asked myself why terrans don't make ravens to kill creep tumors more often...

Because that opens you up to a ravager all in, or a baneling bust. A bc can save you from those. And whats more important. Hellions + bc will force zerg to build units instead of drones because you are more aggressive. If you go passive with raven, zerg will be able to fully saturate 3 bases with little to harass them. And as any race, you dont want that.

@@Alientcp But you do save a lot of energy (and thus money) on scans, get a good harassment tool (turrets) and if the raven survives long enough, even good mid-lategame value (disable and AA missile). I dont think that i have seen many games, when an early raven didnt get his money back, though you are certainly right, it makes the terran player more vulnerable vs. early game pushes.

@@Daniel-rd6st It doesnt matter how much money you save. The only real way to avoid zerg going rogue is by crippling their eco early game. They cant build drones if they are building units. Thats the weakness they have. Their strenght is when they dont need drones anymore, they WILL swarm you because they have the means to outproduce you, and they will have the eco to do so. Not entirely sure if you play, or your rank, but if you let a zerg get their eco sorted out quick, that supply skyrockets faster than you imagine. It really does. Zerg can just go with 5-6 queens to stop any hellion harass and a handful of lings, if any at all. If you go BC they will need to get those queens to fight the BC and a lot of lings to deal with hellions. Adding a turret and score a couple of lings killed is nothing, they are cheap and come in pairs. Even if you score a couple of drones. Its laughable. Ill 100% take a raven over a BC hovering my base any time of the week. And when some one prefers to take 100% something over the other, it means its weak AF. If you dont believe me, try it yourself, any decent zerg player will have 3 bases saturated, a macro hatch or a 4th and an army to match your push by then. Tell me how it goes after that, though my prediction is that you will be contained in 2 bases, and steamrolled after.

@@Alientcp they don't have to make the raven first, opening with a BC or something more fighty and making a raven second or third can save you allot of scans and solid late-game spells.

@@arnigeir1597 I highly doubt they will reach late game. And im not against ravens, you should have a couple mxed in,, Though now you are delaying medivacs, which are also vital. I personally would delay them a bit more but i suppose you can play more passively and dedicate more on sniping tumors than harassing. It may work. I might be paranoid, but as a zerg player myself, i really know how you can snowball extremely fast when you get the eco rolling. Thats why i play zerg, its just matter of surviving the early without major damage.

"In this scenario". He was playing against bio mine on his side of the map. No tanks, no libs, no massive marauder numbers, no buildings blocking the path. So yeah, in that particular situation, ultras would not have been a big throw.

Ultras are good against Terran bio if you can keep Terran on Marine/Marauder and prevent them from transitioning into Liberators. They suck outside of that one specific circumstance.

Great Match, super Casting Lowko for the win! BUT a wonderfull showcase of the necessity to give Terran static defense like flaming betty and the raven ability to put turret that shoot in line! (which should be replaced on Raven by the healing drone ability of Nova) And there should be a way to burn the creep for Terran and Protoss IMO.

Man, what a game. I feel like if Big Gabe made more planetaries instead of orbitals he's be able to resist more ling run-bys and hold bigger economy. Wouldn't save him from the bane drop or the mutas of course but every little bit of lost economy weakened him in the further engagements (duh).

Most people won't realize this because of the scrappiness of the battles, but this was actually a highly technical game. Heromarine tried to harass Serral in the early game like most Terran players do vs. Zerg, but Serral is the master of counterattacks and hurt Heromarine's economy enough going into the midgame. Then Heromarine started the typical TvZ push and kept Serral on the ropes for most of the midgame. Serral was only able to survive that because he had 90+ Drones vs. 64 SCVs. After what seemed like forever, Heromarine finally ran out of gas. Then it was only a matter of time before Serral could finish the job. This is top-level macro Terran vs. macro Zerg, and it is a game worth studying in detail.
