In case any carrier-lovers didn't notice; the _game_ time the carrier started attacking the ultra at was 5:40 (first shot fired, not including launch time)... The time when the ultra dies was 6:50. It took more than a minute for a carrier to kill *_1_* ultralisk. You're throwing bees at a bear at that point.

It does feel a bit dissapointing that the big bois arent that impressive; like for example the mothership should NOT be able to be yanked by vipers imho. I guess lore/logic gets in the way of balance, vice versa rather.

Vipers can yank BCs and other capital ships in lore. It doesnt make sense, but its canon.

@@ChannelMiner I just figure that the Mothership is on a different level entirely. Like a flying city, not just a capital ship. It just seems soooo anticlimactic to see the biggest and most expensive unit in the whole game vanish in a second after it gets ragdolled by a Viper ;P

Note for anyone coming by in 2024, it now takes ghosts 4 rounds of steady targeting to kill an ultralisk at dmg=130 each, as opposed to 3 rounds. Queens, Infestors, and Vipers are the only zerg units that still receive 170 dmg from steady targeting due to their psionic tags!

The thing I hate about Starcraft is their reluctance to make high armored units. I strongly believe an Ultralisk would be a great unit if it had extreme armor. Ultralisks are supposed to counter Marines, but Marines can deal 2 damage to them when everyone has full upgrades. Like wtf? Marines need to only be dealing 1 damage to them Ultralisks to be considered an effective counter. There are so many counter units to an Ultralisk that even units they are supposed to counter actually turn the tables on them. Like Ultralisks need at least 15 armor to actually be useful. That's not even OP cause Immortals, Siege Tanks, and Lurkers still obliterate them. That's not even mentioning some of the active abilities like stuff from Ghosts, Corruptors, Battlecruisers, etc. Starcraft is all burst damage and no chill. I get that it accelerates gameplay, but the big chungus units like Thors and Ultralisks should feel like the dummy thicc units they are. Instead they get instagibbed by fucking stimpack marines.

I think one of their purposes is to counter Archon's. which is also needed to be said in the Archon video as counter for zerg

So almost every unit that fight back counter ultralisk. It maybe no news for anyone, but I think it will still be balance if they give it a bonus to structure.

I would have included infestors as a Zerg counter to ultras. With neural parasite, your opponent’s ultras are your best assets.

Ultralisks are immune to Neural Parasite (see their passive trait "Frenzied"), thus making Infestors not a viable counter. Being able to mind control them would be pretty sick though.

In Wings of Liberty, Thor with its assault cannon can lock Ultralisk to death with its 500 damage payload 😂

What Ultralisk skin are you using in 5:03? The Leviathan Skin or the collectors edition skin?

Although they are similar, I think it's the Leviathan skin. I see a frill on the side of it's head that I don't remember seeing on the Collector's Edition skin.

I hate ultralisks. All those giants do was destroy Thors, roaches and colossus so easily while losing to marauders, brood lords, lurkers and immortals. I had to rely on battlecruisers, brood lords and void rays to beat those giants due to ultralisks destroy Thors, siege tanks and Vikings so easily.
