Marines are just a all around great unit. they are very cost effective pair well with many different units. There's many combos you can do like the marine muraiders and marines and medi vacs.. correct me if I'm wrong but at least in the early game, in most cases if you choose too not use marines your choosing too lose

Agreed! Even Mech builds generally start with some marines, as they offer early game safety.

And on the underwater maps, they're SUBmarines! What? I only had 18 seconds to come up with that... Besides, at the surface is where all the splashing happens, and they can't deal with splash.

Now do dark templars. Also why would anyone build battlecruisers against marines? Marines can swarm the battlecruisers within seconds.

Don't be silly. When you press "Build Marine", it sends out a morse code message to the Marine Stork. The Stork then begins its 18 second flight to the Barracks & completes the delivery. Obviously.

I used to think the SC2 announcement trailer from 2009 was like, the inside of a barracks. That would imply every barracks has a huge underground prison, and the 18 seconds is how long it takes to get them strapped into a powered suit.

Often, When people call a unit "Basic". they mean "Basic to a fault". Where their lack of intresting uses is a downside. Marines ignore this.

Marines able to hit air, is a mistake. It should be an upgrade.
