@@tytp001 I truly think in my admittedly uneducated opinion Maru possesses more skills than any of these other guys, but just chokes or is a head case or whatever when he is competing offline. He's doing more innovative stuff than all these other players and showcasing stuff that requires more skill than these other players. Zerg mid-game against Terran is basically broken and that's where Maru struggles the most, along with surprise builds. The only time Terran can comfortably dominate mid-game is if they either kill a ton of workers early or create some very successful early pressure and capitalize on it. Otherwise, if the Zerg is able to establish bases it can just keep spamming Lings and Bane run-bys until they get their T3 units out. The funny part is it used to be late-game TvZ that was impossible to win for the Terran. Either way, Zerg is still OP. The Aligulac rankings say it all.

I am not a pro player or any where near it. But why can't Maru just build some defends like bunkers to prevent consistent lings or banglings run by killing so many SUV? seems like a couple bunkers would have saved some many SUV and mining time. And why pro player just don't like to build stationary defends units?

Generally, they don't have the money for it. Every mineral you spend on static defenses, is money you're not putting in your army on the front line. For Terran, the race that normally has to be aggressive in the match up, that means you're less likely to put damage on them if you don't have your full army there. What you're getting at is why Terrans will start building Planetary Fortresses at expansions after a while. They're harder to kill and can defend against small run byes. But bunkers require 275 minerals and 4 supply, which starts to add up and make your army noticeably worse.

I do feel that Terran needs more diverse that work in the highlevel game like improve hellbates and maybe somehow Thor, make battlecruser better somehow but still keep it fair, Bec it seems like Zerg have more option hydra, roach ravenger, viper, mutas, lurkers, infestor. But Terran is always like marine Maura mauradeur medivac & tanks, and late game is ghosts. So we can have games w more diverse units that Terran can use to keep high level Zerg players guessing idk just my observation

Yeah, go look up the top 10. One to two week ago 6 were Zergs and 4 out of 5 in the top 5 were Zergs. Currently it's still 5 Zergs, 4 Terrans and 1 Protoss in the top 10 and 3 Zergs, 2 Terran and 1 Protoss in the top 5. The last 4 winners of Katowice have all been Zergs too.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like Queens give Zerg an unfair advantage against pushes because of how ridiculously tanky they can be which only gets better the more there are in proximity to each other. You’re pretty much going to end up with easy defense that can bog down attackers that need a rather ridiculous numerical advantage to overcome the healing by which point you can call in reinforcements to swamp them. I dunno, I just feel like an early unit like that shouldn’t be remotely that tough to kill.

I forget who it was but someone in the group stage of this tournament basically said his first playoff opponent was going to be a zerg, implying that Terran and Protoss aren't strong enough to top their groups atm. Sure he wasn't completely correct but it gives some insight into how the pros see the current power balance of races. I want to say it was Dark that said that, as he was runner up of Group B behind Serral.

Unfortunate game 1 and game 2, would have been interesting to see the whole best of 5 series played out with longer games. As great as Maru's late game mech is it feels like he's basically forced to play that style in every game, it's all about just surviving the early and mid game to make it into that style. Seems really difficult for Terran to pull off any big surprises against Zerg atm.

Picking Pride, or not vetoing it, was a VERY questionable on Maru part. Also that double Reapers build on game 2 was also a bad choice. And the last game, Maru simply needed to make more mines. He was looking foward to build the end game composition, but Serral was simply rolling in ling and banes non-stop. Had Maru switched back to double Mines production over Tanks, he would have hard countered Serral build, and force him to switch into higher tech where Maru had an advantage.

@@tigera6 I'm very well aware what went wrong, hindsight being hindsight. Maru loses a lot of maps due purely to having to try to play different to prevent being predictable, but outside of midgame mines and late game mech/ghost little has worked against these top zergs. There just aren't enough effective options in T v Z and Maru's played so, so, so much of it in playoff matches over the last year that everyone knows how he's going to play it.

@@warmonster12345 ... and he's a zerg. I'm well aware how standard Serral plays, Maru tried the same thing for a while and suffered heavily for being too predictable. Because Terran simply cannot get away with that. In T v Z you simply cannot sit back and play standard while letting the Z build up, you'll lose every single time.
