If there is one thing I can reliably say about Mengsk it's that he is a master of propaganda. That speech is actually pretty inspiring.
@RoyalFusilier7 жыл бұрын
I love Mengsk's speech because, in fact, it works as a speech. It's very believable that people would rally to his new banner. While not knowing that basically every thing he says is a giant hypocritical lie. He comes in hating people, screwing over his own allies, committing wide-scale atrocities. Suddenly now that he's in, he's the Great Uniter, he just wants all humans to get along against the common foe. Or, to quote Jimmy, "This is bullshit." But it's spectacular.
@danhair2 жыл бұрын
I agree with that. I also love the fact that while his speech is going on, you can see him destroying his human enemies and securing his supremacy over his rule when his speech calls for Unity for the human race. It is a show of hypocrisy to his real colors and his real agenda: complete autocratic and dictatorial control over the core worlds. In essence he took down several families of dictators and replaced then with one single emperor.

In terms of music, I think there was a missed opportunity to include a specific track from Wings of Liberty as one of the music themes for this mission, to signify the rise of Raynor's Raiders. Much like how "The Firstborn" from Legacy of the Void was added to "Countdown". It was the remix of the Protoss briefing theme and one of the old Protoss map themes.

You know, after watching back a few of the last videos and seeing all the cool retro models I actually think Jay has a point when he mentions some of the smaller "convenience" things from SC2 being made available would be good. Like if we can turn on the Brood War tech at will, why not just pick like, one convenience mechanic from SC2 per race. For Terran it'd of course be lowerable depots and maybe for Protoss shield genis working on buildings and I've drawn a blank for Zerg because honestly none of the mechanics for SC2 really were all that much more helpful than SC 1 other than maybe queen injects, maybe add that to the flying queen's bag of tricks? I dunno. But just put one SC2 mechanic on each race and make it a toggle like Brood War tech. Wish list item for 6.whatever the next version of fixes is at. Great campaign, great series, stoked for Overmind. Great stuff Jay...keep doin what you do.

The effort nessecarry to code that compared to the acceptance of the audience is not worth it. Most would despice that and turn it of, so you would need an option to turn that on and of as well. If you have the time to do it though I guess you are welcome.

in broodwar, there were 2 versions of "the hammer falls", which depends on mission 9, if you killed the science facillitys, you get nukes, if you killed the nuke silos, you get bc's and you started with a massive base, so id suggest killing science fac's , so that you can lift off most buildings, move the forces you get imeddiatly, and start with 24 scvs, a massive army, and tech buildings to start, with a factory, barracks, acadamy, and starport

I think the old sounds have more, impact? oomph, presence? I don't know but I like many much more than the new ones. Its neat how they put different filters on the ending dialogue.
@KaiserMattTygore9278 жыл бұрын
Yes. the new sounds are boring and you half the time you can't even tell what's dying or shooting it all sounds muddled and samey SC1 sounds were unique and powerful sounding.

the old seige tank attack sounds awesome. the new one is weaksauce. Same goes for the voice. The old Goliath was such a badass..
@ThisIsntAYoutuber7 жыл бұрын
Some do, some don't. The Wraith/Battlecruiser lasers sound better in SC2 on the Battlecruiser, but Siege Tank fire could've been louder. Missile Turret missiles sound great in SC2 while Wraith missiles aren't as impactful as Viking missiles, but Goliath missiles could've sounded harsher in SC2.
@KaiserMattTygore9277 жыл бұрын
Wraith and BC lasers are okay in SC2 if not a bit generic. Siege Tank is bland, Missile Turret is good though. Viking missiles are okay Wraith and BC lasers in SC1 are fantastic, Siege Tank blasts in SC1 are iconic and the Missile Turret "tracking sound" is just plain neat.
@ThisIsntAYoutuber7 жыл бұрын
Wasn't really a fan of the "tracking" noise to be honest. Didn't sound like missiles and feel impactful in my ears, but that's my opinion and you have different preferences. I also forgot that Banshee missiles sound great, too, which Wraith missiles in SC2 share. MUCH better than Wraith Missiles(On the other hand, their laser sounds have impact, but they're pathetic in game). The fact that Battlecruisers fire like machine guns instead of firing in bursts(which makes sense. BCs have so many weapons in its arsenal and it should make use of them) in SC2 makes the SC2 fit better in that context. Wraith lasers in SC2 though... meh. Can't argue with that.

What I always find odd is how the heck would the dominion be able fill in the confederate's shoes, they would be far too big for him! Sons of Korhal totally wrecked Tarsonis, which was the most populous terran planet in the sector while Korhal IV never had such a big population AND was nuked to oblivion by the confederates. So it's really weird the terran power situation remained status quo and none of the other factions challenged Mengsk (Umuja and Kel-Morian Combine). Realistically Mengsk wouldn't have been able to stay on top.
@phillipmele85338 жыл бұрын
The Umojans and the Kel-Morians were likely cowed into submission by how his forces took down Tarsonis and the rest of the Confederacy. They were also weaker than the Confederacy, the Kel-Morain Combine were a shattered and broken group, and the Umojan Protectorate was secretly supporting the Sons of Korhal. The two *allied* with the Dominion once the Sons of Korhal won, which gave the Dominion time to solidify their power and rebuild.
@hazzmati8 жыл бұрын
Michael Leem I guess but that still doesn't explain how Korhal suddenly became an ecumenopolis during the time between starcraft bw and starcraft 2.
@phillipmele85338 жыл бұрын
hazzmati Between SC:BW and SC2? You should be asking how they managed to establish Augustgrad in the aftermath of the Confederacy's destruction (that's Augustgrad in the ending cutscene). Apparently, the humans of the Koprulu sector have some really damned good construction methods.
@hazzmati8 жыл бұрын
Michael Leem I assume Augustgrad already existed at that point and didn't need to be ''established''. The Sons of Korhal were already fighting the Confederates for a few years prior to SC1. And yeah they could have some really good methods a few years from now on.
