There are also references embedded in the names of characters themselves: - Tom Kazansky (Wraith hero) is a character in the movie Top Gun - Gui Montag (Firebat hero) is a reference to Guy Montag, the protagonist of Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451 - The protoss units and titles are not really "pop culture" references but rather historical references. "Archon" means "Ruler" in Greek, and was the title of a public official in Athens. "Praetor" was the title of a public Roman official. "Templar" is a rather obvious reference to the Knights Templar. I remember reading across many forums and how they wanted to have Zerg buildings attached to creep, and have what they do in sc2. Zerg move and attack faster on creep, slower without. But due to time constraints and being unable to find suitable ways to balance creep buildings, producing lots of creep. But finding it near impossible. Due to testers focusing on creep colony's, effectively crippling and making zerg the weakest in the game. So they scrapped that project until later. Valkyrie afterburner sound effect is actually used in the Brood War campaign, in the mission where she debuts.

0:54 Oh there was a reference of this sound! I have really been wondering what sound this is for 20 years

I always thought that the siege tanks "ready to roll out" was a reference to transformers "transform and roll out" given that they deploy and transform into turrets.

This was awesome! A huge blast from the past! I really appreciate the work you put into this video, including having the character’s faces on the screen. That was awesome

The battlecruiser is also a big reference to the captain from the macross series. They look and sound the same

The Marine does need more love. I guess it's not a reference, but if you click repeatedly he says: 'Make up your mind' and 'Oh my God, he's whacked!'.

Ah back in 2000 when I was playing SC1 my English wasn't even that good, still, I collected all the quotes from the game, albeit I didn't understand more than half of them. Now that I see them again, it brings back all the fun! Thanks, Abelhawk!

Aww man, you shouldve gone more into Raynor's lines, those were my third favorite (after science vessel and battlecruiser) "Hey, Quit it!" "What's your problem man?" "Look commander, do you mind?" "I KNEW I should've stayed in bed this mornin'."

When the battle cruiser says "set a the course, make it happen" is based on Patrick Stewart saying "make it so".
