It's so cool how Alien and Warhammer 40K were such an influence for this game. All implemented respectfully and with style. This is the quality you got in the 90s when true nerds were still in charge of making video games with the right amount of time, resources and appreciation. They put love and dedication in every single detail and it shows.
@CommissarChaoticАй бұрын
I sincerely appreciate your take on this, I was so so irked that everytime Starcraft ever popped its lovely head thru blind playthroughs or reactions there would be that one damned comment talking about how it's essentially a 40k ripoff, like I have a Imperial Commissar for Kriegers as my dang avatar for Emperor's sake. It's not even about separating 40k and SC, considering 40k came first and an artist had done work on both back in the day it is an influence but not enough for SC to be a ripoff. Really I'm just worried for Starcraft's image here in the future... I don't want it to ever rest in peace being known as great value 40k or ripoff 40k. I was concerned about this also since one of Bricky's videos especially the factions explaining ones were a lot of people's first view into the universe. I really mind the saying that a person is smart but people are dumb. They're gonna take that superficial Starcraft comparison with no grain of salt....

@@LookHereMars in fact Starcraft was the 2nd attempt by Blizzard to make a 40K game but just like with Warcraft it got rejected by the right holders after development has already started. What's left of the concept is the Orcs in Warcraft and the Space Marines in Starcraft.

@@LookHereMars From one of the 3d model creators/animators (Phil Gonzo) : "Unfortunately part of Blizzard playing nice with Games Workshop is the lack of Cerebrates in our games. And I don't know why we changed all the queens in HotS, I was already on another project when that happened so I can't really explain or understand the reasoning." this was also given to the reasoning behind the hydralisk change between games. The story goes that both wc and sc were supposed to be worked on with two existing ips. Both existing ips pulled out with the games already in production. wc becomes a legal issue and causes some changes. With games workshop pulling out on sc they wanted to protect their assets, AFTER the majority of sc1 had been completed. but hadn't actually seen the direction blizzard took sc after the departure. In order to keep GW happy blizzard promised to remove/change models in the game. All of this was done outside of court and is an agreement between the two companies.

I'll be real, I love the Amerigo battle scene, but from a tactical standpoint, that demolitions team set themselves up for an ambush. The minute that first guy went down, you know the Zerg are in the vents, which means they've got the ability to pop out of them whenever. Then there's the fact they set down the bomb in the middle of a four-way junction, wide enough to fit hydralisks shoulder to shoulder. Once the shooting starts, that's when you know it's already too late for those poor boys to get off the station. No movement, no target prioritization, no overall communication. I'm a huge fan of the terrans and I love seeing them win, but in a situation like this, playing it out like these boys did is just a fast route to the grave.

Similarly merging of both Khalis and Uraj(seen in broodwar). His act of sacrifice. Becoming one with 'the force' to kill the overmind for his people. Till this day, somehow whenever i see his features (not that i understand protoss features), i always feel his sadness at the long gone Golden Age of protoss's Aiur, his own People at War internally, his.
