So, the first mission of Brood War already showed us, how much work they put into this expansion. Constant action, utter chaos (exploding structures, zergs scourges/overlords flying here and there, random Protoss troops in local battles) and the acceptance about fleeing the very homeland of Protoss - this is what hooked me in Brood War and tied my life with Starcraft universe forever. @Lowko: there's no bonus objectives in Brood War, but there is a secret mission. You need to complete the 9th zerg mission by the timer, and you will get the bonus map if you do it at least 5 minutes before the timer expires. It's actually pretty difficult to beat the secret timer, so good luck with that :)

Well I don't agree. I still think the cinematic after Brothers in Arms mission in LotV is one of the "bestest" pieces Blizzard has ever created. I liked the simplicity of if. No prophecies, no flashy fights. And the dialogue was also very touching. But overall I agree that SC2 had mostly worse dialogues, but still there were some really good pieces.

This was one of my favorite BW missions. Needless to say, I played it over and over... and I found that the reason you get all those extra zealots is that there are burrowed player-controlled zerglings that are triggered to appear beside them. If you're fast enough to spot your zerglings, you can unburrow them and see them fight alongside your warriors before they're triggered to disappear xD

The executor in episode III is Artanis, in episode IV Artanis was promoted to the rank of Praetor, the same one as Fenix and Zeratul(in zeratul case it is dark prelate). And in episode IV the executor in command is Selendis

@Lowko there is at least one mission with bonus objektives. Bonuses that carried you in the following mission. Not nessecary, but useful. Keep your eyes open to not miss them.

The story never specifies if there can be more than one Executor, but you get a clear feeling the entire Templar caste has many ranks, like human military, but the Executor is the one at the top, like the Secretary of Defense I believe in the USA, and only one. But it seems like a Praetor is like a general, and there can be many. Fenix and Artanis are both Praetors. Artanis was just promoted to praetor, as Aldaris states, presumably because there are few protoss survivors to choose from to lead. So the younger warriors are moving up.

I think the relationship between an executor and an praetor is more complicated. Actually executors can be more than one at the same time. Executors are, in protoss sense, the commander or leader of an army. They are at the top, of course, but only of the military. In the last mission of LoV, Rohana said "your executors" which refers to Vorazun, Karax, and Alarak, who lead their own armies respectively. Praetors, in my opinion, are politicians as well as a warrior. Praetors are appointed to administrate specific regions or areas, and it's stated that the title is of an honorable one. Fenix was responsible to the province Antioch, and Artanis is the leader of Akilae tribe. However, executors do not possess any political power in the protoss race. The term only refers to command or lead the army.

I want to point out a pattern i noticed in both starcraft and warcraft 3. When it comes to the campigns of both expansions the first race you start with becomes the second in the expansion, the second in the regular game becomes the last in the expansion and the last campign becomes the first in the expantion.

Lowko, Every planet, colony world and detached military force and such had a Preator leading it. They answered to Executors. Tassadar and Executor player character were Executors of Golden Armada and thus basically higest ranking military officers of Protoss with only Conclave above them in chain of command and that one was a cultural and government thing, not military. Preators are usually combat units, Executors spellcasters, Like Preator Mojo of Aiur is a scout and Fenix of Expeditionary force (or possibly Aiur with Mojo replacing him after Brood War) was a zealot, then a dragoon. Tassadar was High Templar, as were few other executors you meet during campagins and Selendis has whole Mothership as her unit.

Well medics heal bio, so stim now has no drawback along with restoration curing things like plague and irradiate and optical flare removing mobile detection for ghost support, valkyries annihilating 80% of other race's air, lurkers making zerg bases unassailable by ground, devourers obliterating enemy capitol ships, DTs giving protoss the only mobile permacloak army unit, corsairs disabling evrything in sight and DAs completely breaking the game with 200/200/200 armies that combine all the above strengths into one. So yeah, they weren't thbe most balanced.

The rank of Praetor is not unique (its something close to Lieutenant if we were to compare it to modern military), and thus there can be multiple Praetors at any given time.

There's 1 bonus objective for a single mission in Brood War. It's not exactly a "bonus", but more like a hidden mission. Without spoiling anything, there's a timed mission fairly late in the Zerg campaign. If you complete it within 15 minutes, you succeed the bonus mission.

Hey lowko in case u didn't know if you press the hotkey for the shield batteries recharges shields in the middle of a group of low shielded units they'll head immediately over to its range and recharge

Creep recede at the same rate in sc1 and bw. It appears slow at times because only 2 tiles of creep can disappear on the entire map per second, regardless of how many creep colonies and hatches you took out.

This mission had the most memorable dialogue in the whole series for me. "EN TARO ADUN! There is no time to waste! We must join our brethren in battle! " Absolutely the best warcry of all time. Here's this race of people whose planet and lifestyle is completely destroyed, and these guys show up and willingly charge headlong to their deaths, like falling in battle is what they've been waiting their entire lives for. Absolute badass.

You asked if their are two Praetors and the answer is yes. The Khalai have their Praetor and the Dark Templar have the Prelate. The rankings are equivalent in the respective societies. Sometimes DT prelates are called the Dark Prelate.

Fenix stoped being praetor when he died and became a dragoon. I think. Or maybe he didn’t lose his title but Artanis was promoted so Fenix could teach him passing on the praetor knowledge.

Fun fact - there were no new buildings added in Brood War, only units, two per faction (3 for the Protoss if you count Dark Templars that were in the original game but you couldn't make them).

Also there ARE 2 bonus objectives in the entire Brood War campaign, though the game does not tell you one of them. On Mission 3, Episode 6, infest 4 command centers to have them for then next mission. On Mission 9, Episode 6, finish the objective in 25 minutes or less.

I'm sure a bunch of other commenters may have covered this, but with respect to bonus objectives - there is ONE in Brood War, a hidden one in the second to last mission (Zerg 7 I think?). It's a timed mission that you have 45 minutes to complete, and if you complete it with 15 minutes to spare you will unlock an additional bonus mission that covers some of what will become the Starcraft II story. Don't miss it! Edit: Oh and actually I'm wrong come to think of it, there are a couple of other bonus objectives in some missions, like infesting some Command Centers in the Zerg campaign that will carry over to the mission afterwards :)

@lowkoTV IMPORTANT INFORMATION: On the last Protoss campaign you played (not the BW one, the one on the original game) you were called the "Executor" and were part of the story, even tho you had no lines or anything. This "Executor" was later retconned to be ARTANIS. You were playing as ARTANIS that whole campaign, that's why BW starts with saying Artanis just got promoted to Preator, because he was the Executor when you were playing it and now he's the Preator, while NOW you are a new Executor but a DIFFERENT ONE than the one you played on the first campaign.

Hey Lowko an early tip for you for the final mission. Build up a good force and DONT rush the middle, rushing will most likely make you restart the mission or maybe its another Lowko Hard Mode :)

Only one tile of creep on the entire map dissapears at a time. If you destroy a lot of colonies and hatcheries, they're going to dissappear slower in any single area.

No new structures were added to Brood War (except special structures, but they don't count.) Also you have to manually command your Shield Batteries to restore shields. I also don't think they work on structures.

I dont think it is ever better to put the nexus closer to the vespene than mineral line, right? Because if the base is close to the minerals, you may have to invest 2-3 extra probes to the vespene. But if the base is closer to the vespene, EACH mineral tile you're now further from, needs 2 extra probes. And the harvest "rate" is still the same as if you were close to the vespene, probes still arrive at the same rate, you just have 2-3 "permanent" extra probes there. But surely that is much better than having 7-8 extra probes on the mineral line? (again, not increasing mining speed, just to keep up the same normal rate as if your nexus was closer).
