Amount of Archons was not critical. Also shield upgrades sucks and armor is much more important for other units (shields will regenerate, HP won't; shields always take 100% damage from all attack types; EMP when fighting against Terran).

you know you can hover over the icons on the lower center bar that look like the upgrades to see their armor/movement speed, and damage of their weapons with the tooltips that pop up. I recall Kerrigan does 50 damage for instance (Thats base damage, and its more than enough to 1 shot even a 40 hp marine even if it has 3 armor.), Reavers do 100 per scarab. it will update when you get upgrades, though I don't remember exactly how.

No bugs. She's always had "Yes" and "Yes, Cerebrate" lines. In this mission she also pronounces both. you can hear "Yes, Cerebrate" the moment when she kills her new 10-seconds-left-to-live" friend.

Oh so that's why the overmind evolved those heel claws. Ice traction. Over committing and dying is part of the experience. You are doing well enough for your first playthough. Bit of a warning without spoiling much, the next mission is a long one for trial and error. But I think you will like it.

Units in SC pop out to the far left of the bottom side of the building. If it is blocked, the game checks counter-clockwise for a empty spot, so units will only pop out of the left side if that’s the only side with empty space.

Kevkos Except they don't? Quite possibly one of the strongest upgraded for the toss. Especially if you are running archon. Shields can be shield batteried back to full... shields regenerate naturally. HP does not.. it only makes sense that upgrade priority should be, attack > shields > armor. And in a lot of cases... armor can be neglected entirely.

Shields regenerate. HP not. What's more worth saving? Something that will come back or something that once lost is lost completely (unless you MC Medics to heal your Zealots and Templars. But all mechanical units still can't be repaired). And as you've written yourself - you can charge back shields (but who even does it when playing at higher level?). Second - shields always take 100% damage, no matter the attack type. Third - EMP.

Reavers are the siege tanks of the protoss: they can shoot farther than they see, so make observers and a-move the reavers. Just in case you were wondering, the observers are not made in the starport, so they were available in this mission. Though I guess the point is going to be moot, what with carriers wrecking shiz till the end of the protoss campaign.

a quick way to finish this mission: have kerrigan, shuttle and reaver on gathering on the right border of the map, make as much hallucinated shuttle you can and fly all shuttle including the one with kerrigan in the rear of the fleet. fly to the beacon, closest to the border, some turret will fire and destroy some of the fake shuttle but with little luck kerrigan shuttle while go throught. Once she dropped on the beacon mission end in victory.

I played this recently and forgot you're supposed to move kerrigan to the crystal, so i picked it up with a probe and wondered why the mission was still going. When I finally read the objectives and brought the probe to her in my base, she said her line and I'm like "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of you" :P

You can't make a terran army in this protoss campaign. Dark Archons are introduced in the 7th mission (with protoss enemy) and in the last 8th mission there are only zerg opponents. Player-controlled zerg army protecting the temple is quite wicked though.

Actually they upgrade both. By default units start with 50 energy out of 2000. With upgrade they start with 60-ish or -70-ish out of 250.

Lowko, maybe try focusing heavily on tech early and add gateways one by one (makes rally setting less tedious). BW becomes pretty macro heavy later on, so reaver drops with the army becomes powerful

Lowko, I think you might be able to set rally points via minimap, so you don't have to move the screen so much. Try it, it works in WC3. E.: I checked it just for you, it works.

Yes! it's funny because in the old days Blizzard edited that voice clip (and the "you begin to annoy me" one) such that in Brood War, she no longer says Cerebrate--but it sounded so unsatisfying and awkward that I'm glad it's no longer like that even if it is less accurate.

Have you played mass recall yet? It's a complete remake of this in sc2 and very well made. The pathing and A.I of sc2 makes the campaign really fun and challenging. It's actually pretty tough in parts on Hard and on Endgame it's borderline insane

It takes full damage from everything tho (whenever a unit has a damage bonus against a unit type, it applies to shields, even if the unit isn't something the damage bonus applies to; so if a firebat attacks a dragoon, the firebat's "light/small" damage bonus applies to the dragoon's shields, but not to the dragoon's health), and Protoss units typically have more health than shields, so armour is better. Also shields regenerate, health doesn't, unless you have a Terran ally.

Yeah, the praetor rank is really inconsistent in SC1/BW lol In SC1 praetor seems to be under executor, because Fenix seems to be subordinate to you, but in BW Artanis is the one ordering you around? I guess they were making way for the "Artanis was the SC1 executor" retcon even then.

Shield upgrades do reduce damage done to shields. the point is a) armour upgrades are cheaper b) most protoss unints have more hp then sp (shield points)(only exceptions are high templar and archon). this means that armour upgrades have more effect. example: unubgraded zealot dies to 32 zergling hits. with +1 shield but no armour it will die to 35 zergling hits. however with +1 armour and no shield upgrade it will die to 37 zergling hits, allowing it to survive longer. Also, damege to shields is non-essential, as they will sooner or later regenerate. Damage to hp is permanent. any argument about microing units before they take life damage is unrealistic even at pro level, This is obviously even more relevant in sc2, where shields regenerate faster,but the same applies in sc1

It depends on attack speeds. If you have fast attacks (like zerglings) you get more from Attack Upgrades first. But if the enemy units have generally more attacks per second, you should go for armor. (-2 damage on three attacks per second is strong)
