I downloaded Fields of Mistria on a Saturday afternoon on a whim because I liked the aesthetic, the romanceable NPCs and the magic that was introduced to the farming. And by Sunday night I was OBSESSED and I've got about 13 hours of gameplay. For some reason, I couldn't get into Stardew Valley despite all the hype around it. Probably because it didn't appeal to me visually and Fields of Mistria is complete eye candy in comparison.

With stardew it takes a while to get hooked on. U need to get to know the characters and a lot of plotlines are up to u to discover. Fields of Mistria is an easier game and much prettier so it makes sense y ut hooked u (I got hooked by both in different times lol)

One thing I absolutely loved about Fields of mistria is how the village feels alive, the characters are hanging out with each others all the time, they talk about each other, we can participate in conversations with various characters, and it doesn't look like you're doing everything alone to revitilize the town, others characters are chipping in and helping you renovate buildings, fixing bridges and the entire town got together to renew the inn, in Stardew it seems you're the only one doing everything while the mayor is using tax money to get himself a gold statue instead of fixing the comminity center that he neglected.

I think Fields of Mistria will be an overall better game than Stardew after it is a completed game. Stardew is a great passion project from someone who obviously loves Harvest Moon, but it's time for a better farming sim. Most farming sims that have come out lately have seemingly just been attempts at a better Stardew without any attention given to the original source content (Harvest Moon), but FoM very obviously takes inspiration from Harvest Moon and Rune Factory as well as Stardew and other adequate farming sims. That, along with the gorgeous pixel art, is what makes FoM so fantastic even in early access.

I'm a huge SDV fan, but the way that people try to push it to a god-like game really irks me. Stardew is not the end-all be-all of farming sim games, and it's such a disservice when people say that "X is just Stardew Valley but with Y", not only to Eric and his legacy, but to the developers and creators of these other games that put so much work into making a game only to have it reduced to a copy of another. Stardew Valley brought back the love for farming sim games as an ode to Harvest Moon, and his legacy is exactly that - he brought this genre which was so loved in the 90s/00s back to mainstream, and keeping the door open for other developers and creatives to follow after him. With that being said, people also need to realize that SDV was able to prosper beyond what anyone could imagine due to how big the modding community is, and how accepting Eric is of it - he knows his game is not perfect and that there are a lot of things that could be better, but unfortunately he's a one-man show and there's only so much he can do by himself. Hence why he's moved on to Haunted Chocolatier, which I believe will be his magnum opus in terms of how good it is. Also, people need to understand that better developed/fleshed-out farming sim games than Stardew Valley will come out, and that won't take away from SDV as a game. All of these games coexist so we can all play them. And these are indie games developed by indie developers/companies, let's not pit them against one another as competition like AAA games companies do.

Fields of Mistria is the first farming sim I’ve played. I initially wanted to play Stardew Valley but the fandom and overall the whole game development was just so big that it was a bit intimidating for me. But then Fields of Mistria popped up in my search and I was immediately hooked. Absolutely love the 90s aesthetic and I’m glad to see the fandom for this slowly growing😍

Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town (now known as Story of Seasons) was my FAVORITE game, until Rune Factory came out, which is still my favorite franchise. With RF not releasing any titles for what was it, 15 years? I tried other farming games- FeyFarm, Stardew Valley, the updated version of Mineral Town on Switch, even phone emulators for MFoMT, and none of them have captured me the same way Rune Factory on the DS and MFoMT on the Gameboy did. FeyFarm was closer to what I wanted with the beautiful graphics and dungeons, but the NPCs were just. So under developed. I’m really looking forward to Fields of Mistria now. Thank you for the review!

I've played Fields of Mistria for 8 hours today and i am conflicted about this game. It's good, aesthetically pleasing and comes with some QoL that SV is missing. But there's also not much to do at this point. There's a huge gap in time between these games and it will take a while before Fields of Mistria becomes as fun as Stardew Valley. Hasty infusion is bugged, btw, it's absolutely hilarious how fast it makes you.

I think overall that FOM is gonna be that new standard that all other farming sims will follow in the future. The currently early access shows alot of promise and immediate improvements on Stardew such as the jumping and especially in the cooking. i still Think that there are a bit of improvments fields of mistria could use. One is more inventory space… please, another is i think besides gifting to the museum and to Luc, bugs are kinda useless as most of them dont sell well. It would be cool if eventually we can place bugs and fish in our houses like in AC. Also would like to see more diversity in the dungeons as the further down you go its mostly just reskins of the previous monsters. This game is really good tho even for an early access Edit: also a full view map would be nice instead of always having to click on all the arrows. Lastly since there are so many characters I wish when one says they like or love a certain item it would be perm unlocked in their sheet, its kinda annoying to remember what everyone likes.

@sorinsnow32324 ай бұрын
5:18 the phrasing there, i gotta disagree with how that sounds, FoM is certainly a farming sim that takes from SV, but its not a dupe or clone, it also takes from the old guard of the genre HM/SoS and Rune Factory, as well as even taking a lot from other cozy games like Animal Crossing, rather than an SV clone, its more appropriate to say its a new Farming sim that happens to take some of its inspiration from SV, it definitely has enough of its own identity that it shouldn't be called a clone or dupe
@sarahenson96595 ай бұрын
I really am enjoying Fields of Misteria. The mechanics are really well done- except that you have to bind a key to repeat an action. It’s pretty and lots of love clearly went into the game. Currently, I like Stardew valley better. They are both pretty. The villagers in SDV have more differentiated personalities but Misteria is early access so I’m willing to wait and see how they develop. But Misteria’s 90’s anime all the same face portraits, the volume of pink, the running around like a gopher and the fact that the village doesn’t seem to actually need you make it 2nd to SDV. To be fair, I prefer games that make you discover what to do versus lead to the story the developers want to tell.

Stardew is a masterpiece. The characters r quirky and have personality (in ur average game the npcs r bland so they r liked by all players). There are a bunch of easter eggs, cutscenes and with the help of a few mods it can also be very cute. Fields of mistria also have charming characters, and a cute farming gameplay tho overall its MUCH easier than stardew. U can enter their houses whenever u want, buy things even if noone is at the store, the fishing is easy etc All in all, they r both amazing games but very different.
