Traits are a big decision in Starfield's character creation, here's the breakdown of all 17. At the end of the how-to-walk-around tutorial in Starfield you get to create your character, and the most interesting decision you'll make is which traits to pick, if any. Unlike Starfield backgrounds, which are mostly just a set of starting skills, traits are fun little modifiers to the experience that carry throughout your entire playthrough-unless you decide to get rid of them halfway.

The taskmaster trait is even better when paired with the persuasion skill+boosting gear as you can essentially negate the “downside” because persuasion checking the box crew will make their price drop to half. Or in this case regular “price” also, it’s ONLY a one time payment so even paying the double wage is well worth it in the long term.

Lol, i didn't get dream home on my first playthrough because i thought it meant i would have a 125,000 credit mortgage to pay every week. And i thought that sounded way too expensive.

I personally agree with most of what you said, but I feel like the Kid Stuff trait also gives an extra to immersion and role-playing, since it gives you an in-game family and background. It gets rid of the feeling that skyrim gave me, where your character just kind of appeared out of nowhere. Plus the cringy dialog, funny encounters, and bonus gifts also don't hurt. It may not be as overpowered in a single aspect, like bonus xp and loot with Wanted, but it gives a general all-round boost.

Alien dna is also amazing especially when combined with wanted more hp and o2 resulting in med bags and food being slightly less potent/effective basically. heals are everywhere and with the heal skil lvl 1 reduces the penalty by roughly half Making the basic med kits heal 4% a sec for x seconds

@SparkleBurst Well me too because they make great roleplay elements combination. And I chose file-not-found background. So my character is an alien-human mixed abomination created in lab who's wanted by the crazy evil science organization and was working as a miner to evade the bounty hunters.

I wouldn't recommend raised enlightened, but depending on your playstyle, the other two are fine traits.

I really like the wanted trait. Even for my good guy freestar ranger character. I like to imagine that I've disrupted enough evil syndicates that they have put a bounty on my head!

I'm running a Bounty Hunter with Wanted, Hero Worshipped, Taskmaster. It sounds cool, has bounty negotiation, a free crew member, free repairs, and occasional interactive loot and ship deliveries.

I did this as well, but I regret Hero Worshiped. The only synergy he provides is that he doesn't object to all of my theft and any murder I might commit when stealing a ship. I wish I had chosen Alien Blood or Serpent's Embrace instead

I won’t do Dream Home simply because it doesn’t allow for a trunk that is unlimited. I’m a collector of things and I can’t live without unlimited trunk space.

Dream House is extremely overrated. It's nice, but it doesn't really change the game. There are plenty of player houses, ships are fine for that as well. And the Lodge has a bed, all the workbenches, and two unlimited storage containers. If the Dream House was on a more convenient system or came fully furnished it might be different, but its a waste of a trait. Worshiped Hero is also slightly overrated unless you want to play an evil playthrough since he has no moral compass and will do anything you want, but he is a waste of space on your crew. Maybe if you don't want to bring him around but want his random gifts, but I haven't had him give me anything if he wasn't a companion unlike the Constellation companions. He makes a decent pack mule since he has more carry capacity, but if you're a goody two shoes or want to use the more in depth companions, he's a waste of a perk. He also is the opposite of synergy with Taskmaster because he doesn't have any ship skills and is taking up a spot from someone that does have one.
