The sim limits the xp you get per kill to 10 xp. You get uncapped XP in real life though using the 2nd method, i've noticed some of the further out systems have a higher spawn rate of enemy ships, systems without any cities. You can also see a 'hostile activity encounter' on the system map or you'll get a random encounter. Beyond that the UC vanguard mission board has a repeatable mission that has you kill 3 ships over and over. IMO the bounty method is so much faster.@@zerooskil7161

To all pilots: RB or Spacebar activates your ship thrusters allowing for more precise movement alongside MUCH easier turning. Combined with optimizing your turns via the white bar next to your speed you can turn very quickly allowing you to have a very easy time in ship combat. Safe travels!

9:35 Until it's patched, you can take advantage of the system lock skill to attack ships in locked mode and only ships of that faction will get mad at you but won't cause you to get a bounty. This means you can target bank ships for loads of money without consequences because only more bank ships will get involved. Just don't board the ship.

Why would you want to do this? Just enjoy the game as the slow burn it is supposed to be. This relentless cheapening of the game to min-max is to what end? Just make mistakes, go off tangent, progress fairly and timely, enjoy the game as it was made to be enjoyed. I just don't get sacrificing the roleplaying to turn this into a cheap all-you-can-eat buffet when it is obviously Michelin starred glory.

For the turning yourself in option and losing exp: Doing this with little exp at that level will put you in the negative for experience at that level. It won't delevel you but it will make you be at 0 exp until you pay your exp balance off. Paying the bounty is way easier cause you can always get more credits.

yep... as a regular "ship confiscator", basically grabbing every ship that looked good from the crimson fleet/ spacers/ va'ruun/ etc, ~money~ was absolutely zero problem for me. EXP however, was not as easy to come by. claim ship >> re-dock to original ship >> reboard and set as home >> continue. also used a mod to alow more than 10 ships to be owned; with the Razorleaf you don't -want- to sell, the Frontier that you -can't- sell, and then needing a gigantic whale for cargo space, and a combat-ready ship.... and then a couple of other slots for "this might be fun to use as a base..." i was already pretty close to 10, at launch time, let alone however many i decided to capture on the way to wherever i was going...

3:59 it’s a solid method, but our guy is forgetting to say - if you don’t have the skill points to unlock each one, it’s not THAT efficient. It’s probably more accurate to say once you’re through the challenge, play the game (which’ll offer more XP for other missions IMO) and when you have a skill point to sink into that tech tree, THEN return to the simulator to smash through the challenge. Without spare points, this is a moot point.

Indeed! That’s what was throwing me at first. Until I realized that you have to spend points to buy each level within a skill, I kept doing this method multiple times, being capped at Pilot Level 1 and wondering if the game was bugged. After you realize that this spends points, it’s a no-duh moment. So sure, this a good way to level it up quickly if you have 4 skill points sitting there unspent. Early game it’s not like you have a lot of spare unspent skill points sitting around, though.There’s many other things you want to use the points on, instead of putting those all in Pilot right away. I finally got to 3 using this, but I had already completed the mission and decided to try it anyway. I discovered that you can ALWAYS go to the simulator even after you finish it. So while it’s good core information, he got some of the details wrong here.

So you can't progress the amount needed for each challenge of a skill until you unlock that level? I was wondering that. The way he was talking I didn't know if maybe having 1 point in the skill would then let you complete the challenges for each level but that you don't see it and don't know exactly how many you need but it still progressed. I didn't think it worked like that but he kept saying you need X amount of kills. If that's the case and you're on piloting level 1 and it needs 5 kills for level 2 and you get 20, it's useless until you actually buy the level 2 skill bc the next 15 won't go towards unlocking level 3. The only way that works then is going in there with dozens of skill points. For each one that needs kills you'd have to get X amount of kills, use the points, and then get more kills and keep going. People have said you can go back even after the quest so that's good. Any time you have a skill point and want to update a piloting skill but need kills or whatever it is you can just go there and do it. The way he was talking about it is pointless though unless you go level up to 50 and keep all your skill points.

@@bryandedon7459 , exactly. I mean, if you’ve already unlocked the Pilot skill and have 3 skill points sitting there, then you could go from 1 to 4 in about 20 mins. You could simultaneously unlock better targeting, too, if you have points hanging around for that, as well….you can sim it all pretty quickly. If you have no points to spend, then this won’t help very much.

The enemy space ships aim for center mass. If you make your ship shaped like an L they will aim for space.

The piloting part is clearly fake. I get only 10XP/ship destroyed. Not 246, like it's shown here. Probably is some mode/cheat/glitch that works on PC.

For the training: you can use the computer to reset the level, if you then use the computer again you can add perks like extra dmg.

Wrong the mission quest line is called "The Old Neighborhood" and when people go into the simulator most people miss grabbing the skills boost magazine in the room off to the side before going into the simulator.

I don't think that's true technically. It makes enemies easier to fight therefore faster to kill and get xp. The xp amounts are the same

Note that while you won't de level as a result of prison thir is a xp deficit mechanic in the background, it will take much longer to get your next level, also you can continue to use the simulator after the initial testing quest.

You can use the simulator as much as you want after starting Supra Et Ultra, it doesn't matter if you keep going in the quest or not. Continuing on with the quest does NOT lock you out of the simulator, you can come back whenever you want. Also, while going to prison to remove a bounty does not de level you, you can go into experience debt. If you just leveled up, you need to re earn the amount of XP you lost in order to start progressing again. It won't just reset you to the amount of XP it takes to be at your level, it takes off the same amount of XP it would no matter how far you are in that level, you just won't lost the skill point and number by going into XP debt.

My question was is, is it better to purchase a class b ship and modify it out to its maximum capability. I noticed that the class c ships are just heavy and bulky like tanks and they don't have a very good turning radius... If I were to choose to purchase a class c ship with better weapons would I be able to increase the mobility of those ships for better maneuvering during combat?

You can also hack the computer that you use to reset your score while training, just do the 2 first waves, leave when the 3rd wave starts, hack it, unlock all buffs and even friendly ships AI to help you out. I wasn't able to go thru the 5th wave cuz I wasn't on easy, mom raised no bitch but if you did, good for you, we all play how we want

If you took the Wanted trait, there's a higher likelihood of getting bounty hunter ships spawning to get you just by jumping to unpopulated planets/moons.

Disappointed with the Wanted trait. I’m 45-50 hours in and hit 30 recently, haven’t seen a bounty hunter in hours and hours. Last time I got jumped, I was level 13.

@@TheSavageYeti See, I don't fast travel... so I've probably blown up just shy of 100 bounty hunter ships by now, and had to retreat from about 200 of them. They're one of the most frequent event encounters I get. Further typically coming at me in squad of 4 ships, and often way higher levels than me too. Think tier 5 and 6 challenges in the Vanguard simulator if you played that. I've nearly unlocked rank 4 piloting and target locking, now too. Only failing to do so because a lot of my kills were additional after unlocking a challenge but not having a skill point yet to get the skill and getting the next challenge. Now, I fully agree that encounters with bounty hunters on planets is far rarer, but in space they're quite common.

grav jumping in combat is kinda weird, i have yet to successfully do it, i usually just get a "you cant fast travel in combat" message. some people seem to think it can only be done with the ship scanner, vut you show it working with the map here. other people say that it just needs to be another system, while intra-system movement doesnt work, but ive also seen at least one person say that there were only certain places in the same system where it worked overall, it just feels too inconsistent to not be bugged in some way, we'll see if any patches address this

@@Just-Malik that's what I'm saying though-ive seen at least some people claim that you can jump to another planet in the same system, but the rules for which seem to be weird, and is likely a bug as for the grav jump timer resetting, that's the first I've heard of that, and if true is kind of sucky considering that you'll usually want to be grav jumping out of ship combat *because* you're getting shot too much

Going planet to planet just counts as fast travel. Grav jumps are for light year trips. Inside the solar system is too small for that. You don’t have to choose it differently the game does it for you it just decides fast travel or grav jump based on distance

You don't use a grav jump planet to planet. I just figured this out last night and was able to jump to a different system when my turret weapons wouldn't fire at an enemy ship.

So just went somewhere on a random planet, saved, discovered a random location and killed a hostile creature, then did so again on very easy and got the same XP for both items both times, maybe the creature was already loaded so xp didn't change? But was definitely easier on very easy as opposed to very hard so the changes did take place. Perhaps is this only for starship combat that xp scales, otherwise I think this may be hearsay

Another method is to grav jump between the Key in Kryx and the Serpentis system. Enemy ships contantly spawn there and attack you.

You can stand up from the chair in the ship when u first start and hack thr computer on the ship to change the simulation settings. To basicly put chest codes into the simulation. It makes it much easier too

You don't need to worry about not completing the quest, once you are in the vanguard, you can take the elevator straight to the flight sim and use as much as you want.

So you just do space combat have no other skills? One of the issues I'm having is spreading character thin so my gun damage isn't great since been focusing on surveying stuff and have little ship skills too. I'm level 30 and can't believe how hyper focused all in on ship combat you are. That's awesome just not sure how it makes the rest of the game playing like this.

Levels do not affect things as much as other games. For instance at level 10 I was killing level 20 e enemies no problem.
