Player interactions in Starfield are much simpler because procedural worlds can not be coded as easy as a relatively small Cyberpunk or RDR2 map. Also there is automatically a trade-off: Because of the huge map size or like here in Starfield the high number of over thousands of planets/game environments, the whole collision physics and all other physics simulations and interactions are to be handled differently. The development of game engines like the ones of No Mans Sky, Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen are examples, of why this is very complicated. You cannot compare procedural generated environments/worlds, with fully handcrafted and "normal sized" maps like in RDR2, Cyberpunk, COD Warzone and such.

@@griffina5192 But RDR2 map is entirely handmade. Water physics and player interaction in a game engine with maps including PROCEDURAL GENERATION are always less complex. The maps in Starfield are not entirely handmade and that's the whole point, this video and many people are ignoring. Take a look into development vlogs about that technology and what trade-offs and challenges you have by now, if you use it (e.g. Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen). That whole proc-tech in the code and its implications on collision etc is also the reason, why you can't dive down into the water here in this game.

You cannot compare procedural generated environments/worlds, with fully handcrafted and "normal sized" maps like in RDR2, Cyberpunk, COD Warzone and such.

because thats the only thing with physics. Objects, water doesnt have physics, characters have the worst ragdolls ever, and movement is just a preset animation, thats why you can stand on the edge of a cliff with one leg in the air and still be perfectly balanced. The physics in the game quite a gimmick tho, its just for moving objects around, but all the other gameplay mechanics have no use for physics. When you hit enemies its just a preset hurt animation, when you climb a cliff its just a preset animation, and not your character having balance issues or having to slow down to not trip over rocks. Check how death stranding handles movement and thats what you should expect starfield to be like, you know, if it had a competent engine.

Marketing and hype go hand in hand contributing to ratings. CP2077 was less buggy (aside from last gen consoles) than SF on launch, yet CP2077 to this day gets a lot of backlash while Starfield gets very little. In fact, CP had fewer bugged out quests than Elden Ring which by default is not proper story driven game. And I believe it has to do with expectation management. CDPR marketed CP2077 so much even through delays, expectations were through the sky. Bethesda barely marketed by comparison and they had history of shitty releases so expectations were much more within reason. In short, ratings will never be objective and you should go by your own experience
