Now RTX 3050 is starting to perform better than GTX 1660 Tin newer games, they were very similar on older games. As a GTX 1660 Ti user, sometimes I used RTX 3050 results in games as base if I didn't find results for GTX 1660 Ti, but I think it'll be useless for future games.

I woke up today to see there is a Nv driver, Starfield update, and also an OTA whitelist for REBAR on Nv cards, but haven't tested yet; also, in their update notes they list DLSS as a feature that is inbound. I'm really hoping this all improves the game, especially the look of it while upscaling.

i recently got a 7700xt and I'm getting 60fps+ all the time at 1440p high settings on starfield. I was surprised considering watching the performance reviews before I bought. Using 90% render resolution aswell by the way, so pretty much native! Looks amazing, I'm having a good experience. my game looks really good. Hope other are enjoying themselves.

U can turn on NVIDIA Image Scaling, play in 900p or 831p - 1477 x 831(77%) + Sharpening to 20% DLSS 2.5 may look better, but if you don't want to mod it, it's a great solution

The texture quality cannot be reduced right? and there's also a gazillion lights being rendered in every city, combined with them also "overhauling", as Todd Howard put it, the lighting system. There's a mod to reduce texture quality via using ai instead of redoing all textures and if we can get a mod that limit the amount of lights being rendered at once or the render distance of lights, this would most likely run 10x better. I wonder what the textures are considered if there were a low medium high and ultra, equivalent to ultra perhaps? Also gotta take in the fact how many graphical settings are actually missing that should be there and is in most games. Edit: idk what the render distance of lights are set to by default or if it can be changed in ini but I was on the highest building in new atlantis and all lights were rendering in when I looked down, the mast building I think? Very tall building so the distance for it is quite high. Basically gpu processing entirety of city lights and around city most likely

I've used fsr and love it for older gpus, you can play games you couldnt before at good framerates. Bit dlss is on another level.

Well I will hold on my RTX 3050 for more 2 years then, I'm skipping 40 series anyway. 8GB VRam will sufice, a shame it's quite expensive looking at the offered performance. I've tested 3 RX 6000 cards but AMD Drivers do really sucks so, Nvidia threw their tax at my face again.

This game is something else, my son is happy with the graphics on his 3070 and I think they look terrible. For fun, I tried it with my old 1060 6gb and while it was playable, it looked like PS2 quality. That old card can still be decent for modern games except for this train wreck and a handful of others.

So nvidia cards runs noticeably slower than similar AMD cards. GPU utilization shows near 100% utilization, but real board power somehow in some cases almost 1/3 lower than it should be... seems something not entirely honest happening behind the scenes.

Probably GPU scheduling bubbles, where the GPU can be busy doing work but not all GPU threads are engaged in the processing. So you get high usage but low power consumption.

The only way you're going to get 60 FPS on a 3050 is the low preset (with DRS and FSR/DLSS on, at 50%), but even then it'd probably drop well below that in demanding areas. And since it's not a 40-series GPU, you can't even use the frame generation mod to offset that either. With something like this you're probably better off cranking up the settings as high as possible with a 30 FPS cap both for consistency and graphical quality, especially since the Xbox versions are locked at that anyway.

3050 has very similar performance than series s and that console runs 900p 30fps so its no suprise that 3050 cant run it 60fps of course game graphics become more intensive over time. 3050 is very bad value gpu you can get rx 6600 xt or arc a750 for less money atleast where i live

The devs don't want to admit, that this kind of graphics is nothing new and has been seen in various games before. For example Call of Duty series has graphics like this and they all run 100 FPS with GPUs like RTX 3050. (Call of Duty : Black Ops Cold War for example, runs RTX ON 4K ULTRA +50FPS). Starfield is outrageously badly optimized, most likely on purpose, to sell AMD GPUs.

Not at all. I'm currently playing on a i5 10400f, rtx 3060ti system and it's very playable. New Atlantis is where I see the biggest drop in frames but it's still much better than playing on a console with a 30 frame cap.

@@fardinkarimy3614 I play on a 1080p 165hz monitor so I haven't tried 1440p or 4k. However, I wouldn't even try to run a higher resolution on my system the way it is optimized now. You should be able to run at 1440p with your specs. Also I'm not running the dlss mod, I'll wait for the official game update with it. Laptop gpu performance very much depends on how much power laptop is able to provide to the gpu and how much heat its thermal system is able to dissipate and both of these parameters vary a lot from one laptop model to another. So you can get anything from very close to desktop level performance to maybe half of the desktop level.

3050 Laptop is quite weaker than its desktop counterpart. It's about 22% slower on average than its desktop counterpart when comparing with a 80+15W RTX 3050 Laptop Max-P. Also, a 35W RTX 3050 Laptop Max-Q is getting the same TimeSpy Graphics score as an overclocked GTX 1650 Mobile at 50W, I suppose that alone says everything. On all RTX 3000 Laptop series, the RTX 3060 Laptop is the closest to its desktop variant with a avg difference of around 6-8% for the Max-P version at 115+15W. All other models are more than 20% slower than their desktop variants.

@@xcorrupt2757 I haven't seen lots of benchmarks of a 75W RTX 3050 Laptop, but it would be at the very least 25-30% slower than its desktop counterpart. If Starfield is playable or not depends entirely on your definition of "playable", but you should know that most people consider anything below 30fps as unplayable or uncomfortable.
