Growing up there were these little known movies made by some new upstart hotshot named George Lucas. He was going against the grain and had something to prove and being in his 30s he still knew what cool was. He wasn't the guy George Lucas that we know today and so he didn't have complete creative control over his IP. He had to work with some of the best people in the industry and accept their ideas and corroborate with them. The results for three classic masterpiece movies episode 4 5 and 6 of Star wars. That same man once he turned almost 70 decided he was going to further the franchise. It was clear from the get-go he had no idea what cool was anymore in his old age. And subsequently each released Star wars movie even though it was done by the original creator was gradually proven to be worse than his original dream. 30 years is a long time, and the guy had lost touch with his own creation. Bethesda and Todd Howard fall into the same category. 30 years ago they released "passion projects" that were simply incredible. That was a long time ago. When was the last time Bethesda or Todd Howard created a good and fun game? Why do you people keep buying these games? Why are you supporting a company that has turned out nothing but dribble for the last 15 years. The creative magic has long been gone, and they have a proven track record of letting their fans down for over a decade. Stop supporting garbage companies and their garbage games just because they have a famous name.

I'm sorry, but i love the prequels as much as the original trilogy of Star Wars, and i know many folks who love them too. Now things can always get worst isn't? Startield is Disney Star Wars, it's not even close to be like the prequels. The situation here is different.

I came into this with lowered expectations, because between the ET routine MS pulled with physical copies of the base game, and Walmart itself discounting the Steelbook premium upgrade to $20 (bought mine in May, there is still one last one waiting to be purchased lol), I'm only a combined $44 in the hole for this entire Saga. I genuinely feel for hardcore Bethesda fans that spent a total of $105 on this last autumn. I figured with the pricing being $30 - $35 on Shattered Space, depending on how you purchased it, I'd be getting an "eight out ten" type of experience, but it isn't even close to that. I'm pretty much just outside of the room where the final story events will occur, and there has one major theme throughout this that keeps rearing its head: it is totally, completely, 100% detached from the main game. A few examples: 01. I only have one mission left in the Crimson Fleet quest line. In other words, I am by far the most important person in Delgado's pursuit of Kryx's Legacy. Crimson Fleet on Va'Ruun'Kai (everything in this expansion is named like someone took a trip to Honolulu, but was high the entire time) didn't get the memo. They just attack. It was so dumb contextually, that I just sped my way through the mission involving them, barely killing anyone. 02. Being married to Andreja and having her as companion the whole time should have had a major impact on how the story unfolds. Nope. Nada. Zero. Might as well have brought adoring fan along, he would at least be a more productive pack mule. 03. All of those zero gravity bubbles around the Scaled Citadel sure look like a fun way to level up your gymnastics perk, right? Better luck next time, none of the vortex phantom kills within count for crap. I've actually not upgraded anything on the skill trees the entire time. I had a few skill points going in, I'll likely be level 45 and have seven to spend coming out of this. At least upgrading my ship screw capacity for the remainder of the base game will be expedient. 04. You honor the phantom's request to not take a second story related item inside the dam, as it will doom innocent farmers on the surface. They then proceed to continue attacking you the rest the time you spend leaving, as if you had done the complete opposite of what was requested. Brilliant stuff. 05. The "missing son" mission is hilariously bad. Quest markers bugging out like crazy. Text boxes explaining the relevance of what you stumble on, rather than, you know, any worthwhile dialog from the new companion who can seemingly leave the planet with you (can you blame him?). Weird. 06. Phantoms are frequently immune to abilities gained by visiting the temples you visit in the main game, for some strange reason. 07. I've still got one Crimson Fleet mission, all of Ryujin, and everything after the introductory Bounty Hunting mission to still play in the main game, along with the last few main story chapters. None of the weaponry or gear acquired in this is particularly interesting, and I'm unlikely to put much of any of it to use. Also... you seem to earn no new ship? The Mantis side mission in the main game is better designed and provides better (relative to your level when you acquire them) rewards than this entire slog. On the plus side, anti-gravity helped me acquire all 120 "memorial" helmets, and the less than spectacular legendary helmet hidden among them. Yeah, I was that bored. It goes without saying I'm not excited for TES VI at all, and I hope Obsidian develops Fallout 5. Cool video and channel.

3:20 See, you're making a factual error here. Phantom Liberty didn't had the "fixes" as a part of DLC. Those were *made for free regardless if you have expansion or not*. Bethesda would never even think about something along these lines - it's the responsibility of modders to fix the game. Which they do, because people clearly have no self-respect for their effort and time.

Best expansion for a singleplayer that is worth every cent even at full price is Blood and Wine and Heart of Stone in Witcher 3. I also think this is why I felt that FO4s expansion are kinda meh back then. So Im not suprised to see this in Starfield.

Addendum: Did any of the other 0.35% (lol) of people finished this on Xbox Series get immediately bludgeoned by roughly forty random auto saves being created, along with the ensuing (grammatically incomplete 😅) message ls about running out of space to save games? We will ignore the part where I have 167.2GB of internal storage available. The YIKES, they never end. What Gadzooks await me in the Ryujin and Bounty Hunter quest chains. 🎉

I wish these videos had more specificity. Even a slipshod review like this could have you making some kind of specific complaint. You mention that there's no new stuff, or almost no new stuff, but you had NOTHING to say about any particular thing? You say that you were looking forward to an exploratory game, but in what way did it fail at doing that? You mention that there was a pretty section but your complaint is that it was pretty but, essentially, "not good." Oh, it was NOT GOOD? WELL, I GUESS I SHOULDN'T PLAY THIS GIVEN THAT THOROUGH CRITIQUE! And I'm not picking on you, the fact is that I've watched hour-long critiques of this game that manage to say about as much as you did in your seven minutes, which at least means that you have brevity. On the one hand, I cannot imagine making a review of something, or a critique, and being so non-specific; on the other hand, I know how difficult it is to write an essay and make it work. Here's my only recommendation, assuming your future videos contain this pitfall into which so many other essayists have fallen: Examples. EVERY TIME you complain about any thing, _anything,_ give an example. The enemies are bullet-sponges. Here's an example of why it bugged me during my play-through, or even just one single instance where it was a big problem, or the culmination of this issue. There was no exploration: I TRIED to explore, but quickly realized that it was just endless barren wastes with copy-pasta points-of-interest, so I turned around before making it two-dozen feet and just mirthlessly did the main quest. There were no new ship parts: I looked for ship parts, I scrounged around, I checked sellers, and I was baffled at the lack of anything new here. I checked the release log to see if they mentioned anything about it but nothing. Hardly any new armor: I tried the new bits but they weren't that good and there were hardly any options, so I just stuck with what I was wearing for my previous playthrough. Look, I'm _making up_ examples and I feel like I'm halfway entertaining. As a corollary to "examples," I would add that "insight" is the ultimate trick to engaging essays. Even if you don't have a specific example, forget that, it's not the example _per se_ that you're trying to give, it's INSIGHT. What's insight? There's a dictionary definition, but I have a more, heh hem, insightful definition: It's whenever you make someone go, "Oh, yeah, I get it," or, "Oh, that's a good way of looking at it," or even, "Wow, that's crazy," but unironically. From novels to technical explanations, to tutorials and teaching and newspaper articles, insight is the master manipulator of emotion. The analogy is basically an insight-device. You compare a thing that people don't know that well to something people do know that well. "Ooh, that makes sense. It's like that, is it?" And frankly, my explanation here is probably the "Baby's First Disquisition" explanation, and I'm missing a bunch of more intelligent and meaningful elements of this whole thing, but after writing a few dozen essays for my website, writing a couple novels and critiquing a lot of writing, this is what I've got hitherto. Hope it helps or at least I wasn't obnoxious.
@theratshepherd3 ай бұрын
oh thanks for the critique! I think I largely disagree with it lol but that's the beauty of art critique, the stakes are quite low. Though I do get what you mean, in my Armored Core 6 and Shadow of the Erdtree reviews, most points I made I had "receipts" because I really loved those games and thus, good or bad, wanted to support my arguments with most of the points I wanted to make with relevant footage or whatever. But this expansion felt so low effort I felt like putting in too much effort (especially as a small channel I'm doing just for fun) was a waste of effort. Like, the lack of new ship parts is a statement of fact, giving examples on that wouldn't add anything to this essay, I don't think. For what it's worth, my other video on Starfield goes into more in depth on why I felt exploration sucked but I don't expect people to like, go watch my other videos to understand this one lol. You weren't obnoxious, having discourse on art is what makes life worth living :)
