Starfield Things to Know: Travel

This is a guide on how to travel at the fastest speed your legs can move. Travel has been labeled as the worst thing in this game and i am going to show that it is not as bad as people make it out to be. i will cover low, mid and high gravity environments.

I've done some testing (without using any chems) on sprinting towards a POI vs using the boost pack on low gravity moons. Running works out to be the fastest especially when the gravity is lower. It can make as much as several minutes difference over very long distances. Testing was performed using Logitech's G Hub software and a LUA script, so the boost pack activation is timed and repeatable Flying is much more fun though. I have my script setup so that I tap a key that starts the boost jumping sequence, move the mouse in the direction I want to go and then can go hands off while my character flies towards the POI.

The boost pack adds no speed but it will maintain the same moving speed prior to take off. It's main advantage is avoiding obstacles. Note: if you make a hard turn while in the air you will lose the sprint speed.

@@Starfield_Eclipse You're right. A bug in my script was making the boost jumping run instead of sprint. After fixing the bug it is faster boost jumping and you don't have to bother avoiding obstacles. It's a pity that using powers cancels the sprint effect until you land and start again.

@@Starfield_Eclipse It looks like you're using an Xbox controller. See what you think of this video: Starfield - The BEST Boost Pack To Use And WHY by SwoleBenji - in particular the part where he tests horizontal boosting with the alternative jump key. Also, for what it's worth you lose no speed when making hard turns with keyboard and mouse unless you press the forward or backward keys or use a power. You can strafe left/right or make a quick 180 degree turn without losing sprint speed while airborne.
