I’m also playing on extreme and figured out it was easier to take a ship over that lands on a moon than try to win a battle with the Fronteir. I took over a Va’ruun Hymn, which I think is better than a Ghost, but I burned through a lot of ammo and brought Vasco along to help.

If you plan to dev ships first thing you do is get the Vanguard Grunt work quest done. Requires minimal flying and unlocks the Vanguard parts. Toss 6 of those Oblitorator auto cannons on the frontier as it is with half power.

I don't know how plausible this is on your playthrough but I got a Phantom bounty on Syria (lvl 55 planet) and easily took it out with the Frontier and targeting at around lvl 7 on very hard. It was a phantom III with a 26 reactor, and starship design 3 engines, grav drive and shield. Edit: just to clarify, I picked up the bounty on Syrma .

Just one quick question why did you not sell your contraband at wolf Den? You can build a mission board on your ship

Slack. There are easier ways to lose contra Jump in claim ship undock. Redock right way change back to your attacking ship. Land and change ships. If you are not farming it’s easy to disappear the goods

"Redock right way change back to your attacking ship." That's been patched out (as I predicted). Also, I don't see how that's easier than simply placing contraband in the captured ship's cargo hold and jettisoning it after claiming the ship.

I know I'm late to the party with this comment, but extreme difficulty space combat is too hard in my opinion. At least until later in the game when you can build a fully upgraded ship. Im glad they separated space and ground combat difficulties. Slack, what about dialling back the ship combat difficulty in the early going and ramping it up gradually as you level?

Slack, I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned doing the first Vanguard mission (Grunt Work) to unlock the Obliterator ship weapons. Cheap, low reactor cost, and powerful. It would certainly help with space combat early on. Is there a reason you are avoiding it?

Because it makes no sense to put $85,000 worth of weapons on the Frontier when the plan is to swap it out for a Crimson Fleet Phantom at the earliest opportunity. You can't take them with you. I'm surprised you overlooked that.

I've gotten used to blowing everybody away so I find the extreme challenge refreshing. In space you can't win them all. Where do you stand on using the UC flight simulator?

No issues with the UC Flight Simulator but Piloting rank 4 is not a priority right now.

The glitch I always got, which I could reproduce quite reliably, was going to the Den, selling contraband then going to New Atlantis, register ship, switch to the Frontier, sell off the Crimson Fleet ship and then all of a sudden I'd have all kinds of clipping problems with my ship, e.g., I could walk right through the ship while on the tarmac as if the ship didn't exist and/or couldn't access hatch to get in and attempting to fast travel to the ship would crash the game, etc. It was such a royal PITA that I stopped going to the Den altogether. Now admittedly, I haven't tested that in quite a while. As you said, they may have patched that up.

@@MajorSlackAttack Wow, never had that happen. I did have a stolen ship that I customized fly off once but that had nothing to do with the Den. And there's always the Red Mike to sell off contraband as well.

Given that we can get any piece of components regardless of ranks, by simply selecting something that’s available, then cycling to the grayed out item and placing it. I cant be bothered with ranking up anymore.

the very first mission i pulled while playing along with your videos was a kill the ghost mission, Had 2 Phantoms and Ghost, I was able to successfully acquire the phantom on the first mission.

So when I registered my phantom it still had the enemies body’s clipped trough the stairs on the entrance to the cockpit, I though this would be been fixed by now 😢

Idk if they fixed it with the update but I hated how if you made your primary ship one that you stole then the perk for upgrading your crew count wouldn't progress.

Major Slack, RE your gameplay settings. You have a huge increase in carry capacity. Wouldn’t it be worthwhile turning ammo weight on considering the minute effect on weight it will have compared to the capacity?

Yeah, you're right about that. The carry capacity goes up by an insane amount. I initially wasn't sure about changing either these settings, but even just increased already adds more than enough to cover ammo weight.

@mrfrankel2449, Ammo weight is turned off because of my personal preferences. There is no right or wrong about that. So in answer to your question, no. 😎
