Oh I am so loving how you're starting to put out Starfinder content. The future looks bright.

I love that Skittermanders are in the Core Rulebook. "You have been conquered, you are now part of the Veskarium!" Vesk soldier. "Hooray, we've been conquered!" the Skittermanders. "Do you not know what conquered means?"
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
The best part about it is that the vesk view the Skittermander homeworld as a 'punishment post.' So much so that they left a Pahtra in charge because they didn't want to be bothered by it.
@KOkami03Ай бұрын
Personally, I've always viewed what happened like this: Vesk: "People of this planet, we have come to conquer you!" Skittermanders: "Okay! Here's the keys, the deed, a map of all the best places for food and resources, and a guide to all the wonderful wildlife, including what can and can not kill you. Can I get you anything else? Food? Water? Alcohol? ...Back massage? Vesk: "...My warrior ethos demands we do battle... But our code of conduct dictates that I do not battle you since you are not only not resisting me, but actively aiding me..." Skittermander: "...Back massage?" Vesk: "...Oh, what the heck? Massage away, strange creature."

My favorite thing with Starfinder is how unbound the races/ancestries have always been. Since power in the system largely is based on your gear, and the tech level is elevated from Pathfinder, you can get slightly crazier or unfamiliar ancestries without it upsetting balance too much. I hope 2E preserves some of that, even if it's just design wise, which with the Barathu it looks like we're getting something like that. I recall dragonkin being playable in SF1 even, which was wild.

As one of the people who wrote for the SF Rulebook line, I really love how you organized this video. Excellent work. ❤

Oh wow, thanks so much! It's crazy, I've seen your name in the author credits before. 🤩

A thing he didn't say about the Skittermander is that they only become sapient when reaching puberty: a Skitterling (that is, a baby skittermander) is as cute as it is vicious - a fluffy, chubby piranha able to skeletonize a cow at astounding speed. When estabilishing colonies, the Skittermanders keep their pups in cages or enclosures, lest the tiny ankle(and everything else)biters devour their neighbors.
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
Also, they have stomach mouths that they use to latch on to large, elephantine like creatures and eat from them like a parasite. The Stomach mouths . . . NORMALLY close up when they get bigger.

Regarding androids, the ones built to resemble nonhuman species are called 'xenometric' androids, and while they're not in this playtest, Paizo has given some strong hints that they might appear in the full core release of SF2 as a versatile heritage, kinda like the aivurain and dromaar in PF2 Player Core for making part-elf and part-orc characters respectively.
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
Yes and . . . I mean . . . If you say you are a vesk-modeled android, and use all the normal android stats and rules . . . I as a GM would allow it!

I know they don't have the most unique and colorful lore, but I really like the Kasatha. I remember first seeing them when I ran Iron Gods back in the P1e days and since then I've just always thought they were neat.

My first starfinder character was a Kasathan Soldier in 1e.

One interesting fact about Pathfinder/Starfinder Androids is their unusual life cycle- Androids can go through a process called Rebirth in which their soul moves onto the afterlife and a new soul is born to inhabit the body.
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
Yeah . . . I thought about talking about that but . . . it gets a little close to some touchy subjects and I tried like, three different times to write it in a respectful way with no luck. I eventually decided that this was not the forum for that discussion.

Really enjoying the Startfinder videos, Psi. I'd love to play a non-bipedal android. Something really out of the box, just to see how far I can push the system. Some deep pressure adapted form factor, or maybe a sentient forklift for the luls.
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
I mean, you can already do that? Hunter Automoton makes you quadrupedal, and so does the Quadruped Poppet ancestry feat. Anyway, thanks for the support, I'm glad you like the videos.

I am looking forward to SF2e comming out. You should talk a bit about how the ancestors have changed. Goblins changed a bit since the stowed away on ships to get off Golarian.
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
That video might have to wait until the actual starfinder books come out. I only have access to the same information you do!
@num1otori143Ай бұрын
Look forward to some of those videos when the books do come out. Could always cover some SF1e info so others will be aware of what changed when 2e is out. Love your videos and can't wait to see what you have in store.

The Idari didn't have a drift drive because it was made and launched before the signal that gave everyone said drive happened, I'm also unsure, but I believe Kasath should be gone by now considering the long and slow voyage the Idari went through, right?
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
I thought that at first too. But I looked and looked and could NOT find confirmation one way or the other. And the signal happened 3 years after the gap ended . . . and it probably would have taken longer to build a massive colony ship right? I dunno.
@DitidosАй бұрын
@@PsiPrimeProductions1 It's possible the Idari was already built and ready to launch before the signal happened 🤷

Hope Starfinder has some kind of power rangers like class where you can summon a zord/ mecha and also have a base form and a power up form. Would be a missed opportunity if they dont have that. Also, could you make another video of top 5 items we may not know about for like levels 5-10 since you have one for like level 1 this would be a cool bridge for the next chunk of levels and you could continue the series for the next 5 levels etc etc if it performs well. I learn so much watching the channel thanks for making great informative content.
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
1) I have a top magic items video from levels 2-10 you could check out. 2) That power-rangers like class sounds like a good archetype . . . maybe not the mecha part (would be overpowered) but check out the vigilante archetype from pathfinder.

Starfinder 1e has about 125 playable species (ancestries). Some of my favorite oddball species are: Astrazoan, Bantrid, Entu Colony, Selamid, Spathinae, and Stellifera. I know it'll be sometime before any of these make it to 2nd edition. I'm currently playing a Bandtrid Vanguard. I'd like to make my next character a Stellifera, but that will probably be in the context of 2nd edition, so I will just go with one from the 2e Core Rulebook. I love this channel and your content. Looking forward to more of it.

I'm a big fan of Pathfinder goblins, are they inside starfinder 2nd? Also I love hearing about lore and appreciate these videos. Me and my friends are planning on playing starfinder 2nd edition when it comes out and this has been a big help for us.

. . . I . . . yes, but not in the core book. I literally zoomed in on a picture of a space goblin in the video.
@szegediadam8793Ай бұрын
The Paizo head of sale got the important job to upgrade the life size Pathfinder goblin "miniature" into a fishbowl-helmet space goblin for Gen con. I'm pretty sure, they want to put them into the core rulebook once it will be ready :)
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
I mean, maybe not? They kinda already said these 10 are going to be the core ten ancestries, but I suppose that could change. But even if they aren't . . . you can use the Goblin stats from Pathfinder for them just as well.

I wonder if there will be more iconics
@PsiPrimeProductions1Ай бұрын
The new Iconic Solarion is Dae (Pahtra, featured), and the new Iconic Mystic is ChkChk (on the thumbnail), who is Keskodai's son. The others I believe are the same (Oboziya-Vesk Soldier, Iseph-Android Operative, Navasi-Human Envoy, Zamir-Human Witchwarper.)

You had me at Android Minotaur. But! Would you treat them as you would a “half ancestry” (I can’t recall what they’re called now, sorry) or just an android ancestry? Or would that be GM dependent?
@PsiPrimeProductions111 күн бұрын
In the playtest (which is out now, not when I made this video) there are no rules for large sized androids. However . . . Minotaur base heritage. Custom Mixed Heritage-Android. Boom, done.
